Prof. Dr. Hanife Öztürk Akkartal (Rector)
She was born in Biga Çanakkale in 1964. After graduating from Biga Commercial High School, she completed her undergraduate degree at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law (1985) and her master's degree in Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences Private Law M.S. (1987). After completing her PhD in Ankara University Institute of Social Sciences, Private Law M.S. (1994), she was appointed as an assistant professor to Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law, Commercial Law M.S.
She carried out scientific studies as DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) Scholarship Holder at Münster University and Max-Planck Institut für Geistiges Eigentum, Wettbewerbs-und Steuerrecht (formerly Max-Planck-Institut für Immaterialgüter-und Wettbewerbsrecht) between the years of 1989-1991 and in 1999; and at Trier University as an Alexander von Humboldt Scholarship Holder in 2005-2006.
She retired in 2007 from Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Law, the Department of Commercial Law M.S. where she received the title of Associate Professor. As of 2007, she started to work in Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Law, Commercial Law M.S. Between the years 2007-2011, she took office as vice dean, Faculty Board of Directors and Faculty Board Member at the Faculty of Law and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
She gave courses in undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels at Dokuz Eylül University, Bahçeşehir University, Eastern Mediterranean University, and Bochum University. Many articles of her have also been published in addition to her books. She worked as a legal counsel in law firms operating in the fields of corporate law, especially mergers, divisions, share transfer, and resolution of disputes between partners, including bank transfers, and as an arbitrator in national and international arbitration proceedings. She took office as the Rector of Istanbul Kultur University in June 2021.
