20th Round of Heybeliada Talks dedicated to memory of Michael Moran

GPoT Center organised the 20th round of the Heybeliada Talks: Series of Second Track Diplomacy Meetings on Cyprus, on 20 February 2016 in Nicosia’s Buffer Zone, Cyprus. 
The event took place with the participation of approximately 20 civil society activists, opinion makers, academics, journalists, and experts from Turkey, Greece, and both sides of Cyprus.
The event aimed to contribute to the expedited search for a comprehensive solution of the Cyprus problem. During the meeting, the participants discussed the main parameters of the property issue and presented the expectations of both Turkish and Greek Cypriot communities in Cyprus. Another topic of discussion was the financial cost of the settlement of the Cyprus Question and the possibilities of financing it.

Since 2008, the Heybeliada Talks have served as a multi-party dialogue platform for sincere exchange of ideas between main stakeholders on issues pertaining to the solution of the Cyprus question. The meetings originally started on the island of Heybeliada in the Sea of Marmara, and later relocated to Nicosia’s Buffer Zone.

The 20th round of the Heybeliada Talks was dedicated to the memory of Michael Moran who passed away on February 4, 2016. Michael Moran was a philosopher, academician, and author of numerous books on Cyprus and has contributed to plentiful GPoT Center publications and events.

Heybeliada Görüşmelerinin 20. Toplantısı Michael Moran anısına adanmıştır

Küresel Siyasal Eğilimler Merkezi (GPoT Center) Heybeliada Görüşmeleri: İkinci Yol Diplomasi Toplantıları Serisi'nin yirmincisini 20 Şubat 2016 tarihinde Kıbrıs'taki ara bölgede düzenledi.
Toplantı Türkiye, Yunanistan ve Kıbrıs'ın iki tarafından yaklaşık 20 sivil toplum aktivisti, kanaat önderi, akademisyen, gazeteci ve uzmanın katılımıyla gerçekleşti.
Etkinlik Kıbrıs sorununa kapsamlı çözüm arayışının hızlanmasına katkı sağlamayı amaçladı. Toplantı esnasında katılımcılar mülkiyet meselesinin temel parametrelerini tartışarak Kıbrıslı Türklerin ve Rumların beklentilerini sundular. Tartışılan diğer bir konu ise çözümün finansal boyutuydu.

Heybeliada Görüşmeleri 2008 yılından bu yana Kıbrıs sorununun çözümüyle ilgilenen tarafların fikir alışverişlerinde bulunmaları için çok yönlü bir diyalog platformu olarak hizmet vermektedir. Toplantı serisinin ilki İstanbul'daki Heybeliada'da gerçekleşmiş, ileri zamanlarda diğer toplantılar Kıbrıs'ta Lefkoşa'da bulunan ara bölgede düzenlenmeye başlanmıştır.

Heybeliada Görüşmeleri'nin yirmincisi 4 Şubat 2016 tarihinde vefat eden Michael Moran'ın anısına adanmıştır. Michael Moran, geçmişte GPoT Center'ın birçok yayın ve etkinliğine katkıda bulunmuş ve emek sarfetmiş bir filozof, akademisyen ve yazardır.
