“Winterfest” New Year event was organized by Kültür Point on Thursday, 29 December 2022, in the front yard of Ataköy Campus. At the event held with the contributions of IKUVENT Club, Career Club, Dance Club, Rock'n Culture Club and Orchestra IKU, our students experienced the enthusiasm of the new year to the fullest with concerts and DJ performances. At the event, which ended with the New Year's concert of the Orchestra IKÜ, the people of Kültür spent an unforgettable evening.

Academic and Administrative Staff Meeting

Istanbul Kültür University academic-administrative staff met on Thursday, December 29, between 16.00-18.00 in Design Factory Office in our Ataköy Campus. The people of Kültür celebrated the new year together at the event, where our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver also attended and conveyed her new year wishes and cut the new year cake iced 2023.

The program of the Scientific and Artistic Activities Support (BİLSAP) Awards, granted by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) to academics who contribute to science, education, society and art with their work, were granted to their recipients at the ceremony.

Istanbul Kültür University held an award ceremony for academics who have had great contributions in various projects both in Türkiye and internationally. In the program held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in our Ataköy campus on Friday, December 23, 2022, awards were granted to our faculty members who worked in the domains of publication, citation, patent, project and exhibition in 2022 by our Vice Rectors Assist. Prof. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız and Assist. Prof. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe.

A promotional concert by IKU Turkish Classical Music Chorus was staged at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on Wednesday, 28 December 2022 at 19.00, under the direction of Presidential Turkish Music Voice Artist Chief Recep Alper Çevirel and accompanied by saz artists.  In the concert attended by about three hundred music lovers songs such as "I Don't Complain to Anyone", "Songs Sing About You", "Remember My Love" were performed with choirs and solos.

An IEEE IKU Club TEKNOFEST team, IKU Red Wings successfully passed the Preliminary Design Report in the Combat UAV Competition, where it was one of the finalists for 2021 and 2022.

IKU Red Wings, an UAV team established in 2021, aims to produce technologies that not merely keep up with the technological advancements of today but also ushers in the future. The UAV, which they named "HÜMA", was developed to perform the two main missions of the competition, "Combating UAV" and "Kamikaze UAV". In the "Combating UAV" mission, the UAV will detect the rival UAV targets in case of dog fight and successfully hit the targets in the virtual environment, while at the same time trying to avoid possible deadlock situations by the rival UAVs. In the "Kamikaze UAV" mission, the UAV will autonomously detect ground targets positioned on the competition track from different viewing angles. It will successfully complete the detection by performing the necessary maneuvers according to the distance between the target and the UAV. We congratulate our team, whose flight trials have proved to be a success thanks to their multidisciplinary approach.

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences 2022-2023 Fall Semester Academic Board was held on Wednesday, December 28 at our Basın Ekspres Campus. After the assembly, where the faculty members, administrative stuff and studens were present, the New Year was celebrated.

The Youth Office, which continues its endeavours within the body of Istanbul Kültür University, paid a visit to Zümrütevler Primary School on Tuesday, 27 December as part of its social responsibility project.

The Youth Office, which was established by Lecturer Hülya Aydın in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Istanbul Provincial Directorate, delivered the clothes collected as a part of the project, sponsored by Tommy Life, by the volunteers to the children in need studying at Zümrütevler Primary School.

Asimov-X Rocket Team, which is part of the Istanbul Kültür University Asimov Technology Club, is a team that aims to uniquely design and manufacture rockets, which are the building blocks of the today and the future of the defense industry. Our team, which participated in the "TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition Middle Altitude" category this year, as in the previous two years, received 752.5 points out of 790 in the "Preliminary Evaluation Report" and with it were granted the right to move on to the next stage of the competition with a success rate of 95.2%. Our team continues its work without slowing down in order to exalt the name of Istanbul Kültür University and make our supporters proud.

The Department of Entrepreneurship students made an investment presentation simulation within the scope of the 2022-2023 Fall Semester "Entrepreneurship Workshop I" lecture. In the presentations in which Assist. Prof. Mahmut Paksoy from the Department of Business Administration, Res. Assist. Şerif Yüksel from the Department of International Trade and Finance and Res. Assist. Mustafa Bekmezci from the Department of Entrepreneurship acted as jury members, the students presented their business ideas in detail. Within the scope of the event held at the Basın Ekspres Campus Conference Hall our students, who presented their business models that they currently are carrying out and that they plan to carry out in the future, gained significant insights especially to be put in practice in competitions in the field of entrepreneurship. We wish success to our students who will participate in the competitions with their projects and business models and who will bring their business ideas to life.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (MYO) Program of E-Commerce and Marketing organized a trip to The Department of Corporate Communications in our Ataköy campus on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.  The students were informed on the practical applications of such subjects as advertising, data analysis, design, organization etc. The students also paid a visit to the Design Factory, which was created by our university with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA) of course. The event was concluded with the questions posed by the students being answered by Yıldırım Özkan, Advertising and Promotion Manager of the Department of Corporate Communications.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (MYO) Program of Public Relations and Publicity held a panel talk titled “Creating a Personal Brand in the Digital World” on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.  Oğuzhan Saruhan, Street 1227 Digital Agency Founder, Trainer & Writer, who attended the event as the speaker conveyed his insights on the positive and negative effects of digital platforms on our careers, and how an effective presence in digital platforms contributes to the business world.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, an interview titled "Brands from Stories" was held on Thursday, December 22, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. At the event, where Brand Designer Özgür Ahmet Köse was the speaker, brand and logo samples, which have a story, were transferred to our students.

The 4th edition of the "Science-We" journal, created by the members of the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club, has been published.

Istanbul Kültür University Women's Volleyball Team, which had scored 3-2 against ITU in its first official match, defeated Medeniyet University 3-0 on 20 December and defeated Medipol University 3-1 on 22 December.  We congratulate our team who continued on their road of triumph without any defeat in their league in the Istanbul Regional 1st League competitions of the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF).

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School (MYO) held a seminar titled “A Collection Story” on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Attending the event as a speaker, Designer & Instructor Gökhan Yavaş explained all the details of the 2022 Spring-Summer ‘Imbat’ collection presented by the “Fashion Week Istanbul” to our Fashion Design Program students.

Who is Gökhan Yavaş?

Young and talented designer Gökhan Yavaş, who has plodded through fashion world after completing his undergraduate education at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Textile and Fashion Design, founded the brand “Gökhan Yavaş”, which appeals to modern, college, young and sports-dressed men by winning the Koza Young Designers competition in 2016 with his collection ‘#instaplastic’, which emphasizes exaggeration and plastic lives. Yavaş, who has received a degree by participating in many design competitions, works as an instructor at IHKIB Academy.

Ethic Leader Academy, organized in cooperation with Ethical Values Center and Kültür Point, produced its graduates in December 2022. A total of 7 courses were held at the academy, where senior managers from different companies met with students online. 31 students who attended the classes became graduates of the academy this semester.

Lecturer Dr. Meri Taksi Deveciyan from the Department of International Trade and Finance presented her verbal notice titled “Digital Courtesy Management in Organizational Dimension” at the Yıldız International Social Sciences Congress organized by Yıldız Technical University on December 26-27, 2022.

Yasin Şahin, University-Industry Cooperation Specialist at IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO), took part in the jury team of the "7th International Hackathon Ankara" event held at Hilton Garden Inn Ankara on December 15, 2022. The event held within the scope of the "WIHU’22 Congress" was broadcast online to an audience of over 1 billion people in 49 countries via NTR TV.

Starting with Yavuz Selim Sılay's opening speech made on the behalf of Fonkolay, Natural TV (Africa), Acvison, Istanbul Consulting Group (ICG) INC. and the organizing committee, Hackathon Ankara continued with the Find Your Co-Founder & Investor Event held by Nizamettin Sami Harputlu representing STARTupCentrum.

Then, a Start-Up Fight, directed by TUMMIAD President Dreamer Bülent Kavaklı, and a Fireside Chat with the participation of Ayman Ghoneam was held. With the addition of enterprise ideas and Start-Ups from 28 different countries, the Pitching Event was completed, and the awards were presented to the winners.

IKU 1907 UNIFEB Community organized a "Foot Tennis Tournament" in the sports facility built inside the parking lot area in our Ataköy campus. We congratulate our students for their efforts and labors.

Our international students, who come together regularly in the balloon gym hall built inside the parking lot of ​​our Ataköy campus, added a new one to their lists of sportive activities.  Our students, who had a great fun time in the Paintball field in Çatalca on Saturday, December 24th, had a chance to clear their heads before the approach of the final exams.

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club and the Effective Communication Club, a panel titled "The Journey of Entrepreneurship" was held on Thursday, December 29 at 13.00 in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall of our Ataköy campus. The CEO of DİİCİ Ecem Çuhacı Küçük, who attended the event as the speaker, informed our students about the start and process of creative, sustainable and unique entrepreneurship initiatives.
