We are in a period where we understand the value of being able to enjoy life with excitement and without calculations like children. Despite all the restrictions of the pandemic, we celebrated April 23 with the message "Embracing the Future with Hope is in Our Kültür". Each of our National Holidays is very valuable, but April 23 is different. I sincerely congratulate all of my colleagues and our children who show effort and patience with us adults on April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. I also share the article "Waiting for Tomorrow" by journalist Zeynep Oral and would like to remind once again the importance of today, which has been given to the future of our country, the tomorrows, children, and us educators. We will leave these times behind and we will have many holidays that we will meet with our children and young people at our schools as soon as possible and celebrate with enthusiasm as before. The pandemic has affected many industries economically. Its ending, or at least all the predictions regarding keeping it under control, were shaken by the fact of mutation. It is a fact that it took longer than we expected. The corona virus has come to our closest. With the crisis and its accompanying side effects, our future concerns are rightly increasing. There is another thing that is at least as difficult as managing the crisis in such times, which is the confusion of information and interpretation. I observe that unreal information and comments about events and situations have recently affected our working climate.

Every individual in academic and administrative staff and working, independent of his/her degree, is a member of our Kültür Family and is very valuable. Our university that you are a member of; despite the many crises in Turkey and the world, has come to this day with the values of Kültür College, which has been surviving for 61 years without compromising the principle of "Labor is sacred" and standing with its solid equities.

Sure, what we experience is a unique time. All businesses both in our country and in the world experience the effects of the pandemic directly or indirectly. This period will have different consequences as well as its own difficulties. As in every sector, we take various steps to ensure sustainability. However, no matter how difficult the conditions are, in the history of Kültür, the rights of education workers are always prioritized and carefully observed. There is no change in our processes, especially in the payment of salaries. The rights of our colleagues at all levels are very valuable to us. I can assure you in this regard.

In this period when all of us pass various tests, it is important to reach real knowledge. For this, we need to be louder and clearer in communication. I would like you to contact our Human Resources Department regarding the way we work and your social and economic rights. Transparency in communication is one of our fundamental responsibilities towards each other in order to get out of the crisis environment healthy and to manage the future correctly. The solution to the confusion of knowledge and interpretation lies in the internalization of the values ​​in the Kültür Constitution.

Lately, I often think of the note that our Honorary President Master of Civil Engineer Fahamettin Akıngüç wrote to a newspaper section years ago: "Quo vadis?" a question that we come across in many places. 'Where are we going?'

It is recommended not to make long-term plans in times of crisis. But our job is the future. Therefore, the question of "Where Are We Going?" is important to all of us. We are trying to eliminate learning losses at a certain level with complementary training solutions. A very important part of our business processes have been moved to digital. How will our work life be after the pandemic? On-campus and remote working go hand in hand with a certain balance and efficiency. At this point, the question of where are we going now is much more important. It is nearly halfway through the spring semester. During this period, our students experience losses that are sometimes difficult or even impossible to compensate. How will these losses be reflected in the future? New young people will join us. Young people prepared for the exam with restrictions. What will we offer them, what should we offer? The 2021-2022 fall semester should already be on our agenda. How prepared are we for the 2021-2022 academic year? What should we do for the structural and content-related changes we call "New Way", new designs that put the student at the center in the post pandemic period, and the development of the curriculum?

As the senior management of Istanbul Kültür University, our aim is to plan the post-pandemic well and to overcome this process without shaking, with an identity based on the values in the Constitution of Kültür, which inspires all our employees in the future, encourages cooperation and teamwork, makes education and training service a meaningful business. Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Banking and Insurance organized an e-seminar titled “Employee Experience in the Banking Sector During Pandemic Period”. Cenk Akıncılar, Deputy General Manager of Human Resources at QNB Finansbank, was the guest of the event, where Head of the Program of Banking and Insurance Evening Education Lecturer Berrak Köten was the moderator.

Cenk Akıncılar, who stated that the world is in a process of great transformation with the pandemic, pointed out that the priorities of companies and employees, the way they experience and their areas are changing. Akıncılar stated that the expectations for the period after the pandemic differ at the level of managers and employees. He stated that working remotely and a mixed model will affect employer preferences of employees, and working remotely with new talents will affect employer preference.

Cenk Akıncılar explained that while business priorities, organization, human / leadership / organization priorities, workforce and working model plan are the areas that can be changed in the short and medium term; purpose, vision, values and culture are the ones that can be changed with long-term approach and planning. Akıncılar who addressed working models in general under 4 headings, explained the human, structure, process and technology & infrastructure elements in the business world with examples. He gave information about the headings of the working models regarding human and human-related issues, the differences that may arise in the current and future working style and the organizational structure, the changes and transformations that may occur in the working order in general, the technology that emerges and is likely to emerge in the future, including security, and related work-investments.

Akıncılar who answered the questions of Program of Banking and Insurance students and academicians participating in the e-seminar, gave advice to students who want to work in banks.

The guest of the "Spring Semester Seminar Series" organized by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design in April was Graeme Brooker, the head of the Royal Collage of Art Department Interior Design, which is one of the internationally important schools and located in London. The seminar titled “50 Words for Reuse” was held on Tuesday, April 20, on Microsoft Teams. Brooker; He explained the concepts related to the subject of Reuse through various application examples and included examples from the projects realized in the Royal Collage of Art Intetior Design department. Graeme Brooker sincerely answered the questions of the students and lecturers at the end of the seminar.

An e-panel titled "What Awaits Family Businesses After Pandemic?" was held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in cooperation with the Family Business and Entrepreneurship Application and Research Center (AGMER) and the Management Consultants Association. Management Consultant & Academician Engin Sağdıç, Mutlu Metal Board Member Gülesin Atalay and Management Consultant & Academician Fatih Anıl attended the event as speakers the general problems of family businesses, the problems they face during the pandemic process, solution suggestions for these problems and the future of family businesses were discussed.

Within the scope of "Sponsorship" lectures of Gözde Kuzu, Head of Program of Public Relations and Publicity of IKU Vocational School, an e-seminar was held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, in which Ilgaz Güler, Country Manager of Spectrum Brands Inc Turkey, was a speaker. Drawing attention to the advertising, marketing and public relations purposes of sponsorship, Güler explained the sponsorship projects they carried out, the sponsorship communication process and the effects of using sports team sponsorship as a marketing tool on brand image with examples. Güler, who advised our students, who are planning a career in communication and conveyed their experiences, gave gifts to the students who were successful in the competition at the end of the seminar.

Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN) organized an e-seminar titled “Searching New Biomarkers Using Proteomics Tools: A Case Study on Breast Cancer” on Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine Faculty Member Murat Kasap spoke at the event; MOBIGEN faculty members, students and graduates, as well as academicians from various universities in Turkey, working in the field, also attended. Alp Ayan was the moderator of the seminar, which was conducted over CATS. Within the scope of the presentation, the advantages of using biomarker technologies, which are extremely important in cancer diagnosis, together with current proteomic techniques were evaluated. Transcriptomic data do not provide accurate information about protein profiles, so the importance of proteomic studies was explained by showing examples from studies in the literature. Finally, ideas about the latest situations and futures of proteomic techniques in the world were also discussed.

The opinions and suggestions of Assist. Prof. Sevda Türen, one of our academicians in the Department of Nursing, were included in the article titled “Prejudices are an Obstacle in Combating Contagious Diseases” published in DHA.

Stating that infectious diseases are caused by very small creatures called microorganisms, but not all of them cause diseases in humans, our lecturer said, “Incomplete or incorrect information about infectious diseases can cause people with the disease to feel more intense, such as fear of infecting others, fear of death, feeling helpless. At the same time, it can cause prejudice and stigmatization (labeling) of healthy individuals in the society against those who have the disease. For this reason, informing the public about infectious diseases is important both in terms of protecting themselves and being more sensitive to people who have had the disease”.

Department of Communication Arts held an event titled “Alumni Talks” on the Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application on Monday, April 26th. Participating in the event as a speaker, Titrifikir Advertising Agency Copywriter Yasir Kalın, a graduate of the Department of Communication Arts in 2015, gave various advice to the students by sharing their school life and industry experiences. Stating that the competitions he participated in with the encouragement of his lecturers during his education, the awards he received and his internship experiences contributed to him in the sector, Kalın shared important information with the students in order to improve themselves while entering the advertising sector.

With the collaboration of the IKU Department of Architecture and Çuhadaroğlu Inc, an e-seminar titled “Transition to Practise from Theory” is organized on April 28, 2021, Wednesday at 15.00. Starting with the history of the company, by Master Civil Engineer, Ali Tuna Şenatlı, Çuhadaroğlu Inc. Marketing Manager, the seminar continued with the subject of architecture in facade design and application by the presentation of Senior Sales Representative Master Architect Dilara Dağlı. In her presentation, Dağlı shared information about products, architectural systems, facade design, how products can be used in projects and the position of architects in the aluminium industry.

Hello, I am Furkan Şanlı. I chose architecture in 2012. But over the years I have become passionately attached to the architectural culture and research methods.

There were several breaking points in my student life. One of them was meeting with Prof. Dr. Ayhan Usta. The second was that my participation in student competitions with the encouragement of Prof. Dr. Ayhan Usta. After I became an architect, the competition culture turned into a progressive passion for me... In my professional journey, I chose competitions that I thought were the best way to learn by doing rather than sticking to an office or a construction site.

I think the most important mission of the profession is to examine, study and support in various ways the concepts and projects that have been found, discovered or researched before in my profession.For this purpose, I try to develop behaviors to discover the variations of the same infrastructure in the competitions I enter and / or the papers I write. 

As I lost in my work, I started to find ways to win, and I am still discovering. I founded Rakun Architecture on this road. I continue to develop and learn projects here.

İKÜ CEHAMER academician Münevver Mertoğlu was the last guest of the “Life Now and in the Future Kültür Academy - Mental and Physical Health Workshop” organized by the Kültür Point. The webinar titled “The Effect of Children and Parents on Uncontrollable Anger and Violence during Pandemic” on Thursday, April 29, 2021, was held on Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application.

In the presentation that started with the explanation of violence, Mertoğlu explained what should be done to reduce uncontrollable anger and violent behaviors during the stay at home. She stated that people try to adapt to situations where they have no choice. She shared with the participants that resilience is a behavior that can be learned from birth as well as later learned, and that especially parents should be an example for their children in this process.

Stating that anger and violent behaviors, uncertainty and desperation during the stay at home increase anxiety, Mertoğlu emphasized that the weary situations of this process and the change in the daily routines of individuals due to the pandemic also cause tension and unhappiness.

IEEE Student Club organized an e-seminar titled "Human v2.0" on Microsoft Teams on Sunday, April 18 at 14:00. Prof. Dr. Erkan Kaplanoğlu, Assoc. Prof. Ali Akpek, Yağmur Coşkundere, Çağın Çevik, Gülsün Kurubacak, Prof. Dr. Korkut Ulucan and Kozan Demircan attended the event as speakers.

Humanity and different sectors in advanced technology (defense industry, neurobiology, industry, machinery industry, biology, learning and so on) are discussed in the event, where the concepts of "human" and "technology" are discussed with a more advanced logic than today's technologies; How ready for this situation, how to reach the level of advanced technology, and what point it is in today's studies on this subject were discussed. Approximately 80 people attended the event, which was held in 7 sessions.

In the event, where the meaning and importance of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day was emphasized once again, awareness was created among the participants on the relationship between nature and children. In the event; The effects of nature on children, how to make children gain awareness of nature, and the issues that children raised with a love of nature bring to the world were discussed.

IEEE Student Club organized an e-seminar titled "CS Why Bioinformatics?" via Microsoft Teams on Saturday, April 17 at 12:00. Assoc. Prof. Çiğdem Erol, Assoc. Prof. Kaan Yılancıoğlu, Asst. Prof.  Savaş Takan, PhD Yasemin Öztemur Wetoğlu, PhD Erhan Parıltay attended the event as speakers. Head of the Program of E-Commerce and Marketing Res. Assist. İrem Oran attended the “TED Istanbul College Occupations Day” event on Thursday, April 29, and made a presentation on the field of Digital Marketing with academic and sectoral information. In the event, which was held in two sessions; Res. Assist. Irem Oran, gave information on the course contents, fields of study and industry practices in the field of digital marketing, also answered the questions at the end of the session.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club and the Department of Communication Arts, a webinar titled "Crisis Management in Digital Communication" was held on Wednesday, April 28 at 20.30. The guest of the event held on Cats Collaborate was Walther Kranz Founding Partner Samet Özetçi. A case study of brands that have done crisis management in digital channels was carried out by Özetçi, one of the young and innovative soldiers of the sector. In this way, awareness was created in our students about discussing and informing the crisis management principles with the participants. The event, with a total of 50 participants, ended after the questions were answered.

Kültür Point organized a training titled “Social Enterprise” on April 27, 2021, Tuesday for aiming to bring solutions to social problems in the long term with a creative and dynamic business model by keeping financial concerns in the background.

In the training, organized by the moderation of Lecturer Yunus Emre Benli, the difference between social and business enterprises and the working principles of social enterpreneurs were discussed.

In the program, where the situation of social enterprises in Turkey is also discussed, examples of institutions that make important studies in Turkey in terms of social entrepreneurship were given. The training ended with answering the participants' questions.

A "Creative Writing" workshop was organized by the Kültür Point on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, where various knowledge and practices were shared in order to improve writing skills and to add a creative vision to the written texts.

In the webinar moderated by the instructor Yağmur Toka, examples were shared with the participants by talking about the writing process and how to improve the writing process. After the book and publication recommendations to improve writing skills, the workshop ended with answering the questions of the participants.

A "Basic Disaster Information" training was organized by the Kültür Point on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones, prevent loss of life and property and take effective actions in times of disaster.

In the training, moderated by Uşak Search and Rescue Association Chairman & Instructor Yenal Yıldırım, the precautions to be done and to be taken before, during and after the disaster were mentioned. In the training, which also touched on how to make risk analysis in our living spaces, workplaces and schools, it was also shown how to prepare a disaster bag. The answering of the questions of the training participants ended.

Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design organized an e-panel titled "On Lighting" on Thursday, April 29th at 16.30, moderated by Prof. Dr. Rana Kutlu. NA Light Style Company Founding Architect Nergis Arifoğlu and LAB1 Lighting Design Founding Architect Faruk Uyan attended the panel where the concept of design was discussed from the perspective of lighting.

Within the scope of the "MIMY0411 Urban Transformation: Historical Process, Principles and Practices" course conducted by Prof. Dr. Evrim Töre in the Department of Architecture, Urban Planning Master Program, an e-seminar titled " On Mega Projects in Istanbul and Their Effects" was held on Thursday, April 29th. Yildiz Technical University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Senem Kozaman, who participated in the event as a speaker, talked about the factors that affect the emergence of mega projects in the world and in Turkey, project examples and possible economic, ecological and social impacts of the projects. Assoc. Prof. Kozaman also gave information about the mega projects that are taking place in Istanbul and are in the planning process. The seminar contributed to the ongoing discussion on these issues by drawing attention to the 'basic' needs such as food and water, which are rising against the 'mega' needs, projects and investments.

The Future Economy book, prepared with 41 authors and 28 chapters upon the call of the Department of Economics, was published by Istanbul Kültür University Publishing House. The book, which focuses on the outlook of the future economy from the world of cryptocurrency to blockchain, from artificial intelligence to human resources, was put up for sale on the publisher's website (www.ikuyayinevi.com) with a 40 percent discount.

Can you briefly describe yourself with 2-3 sentences? Who is Res. Assist. Çağla Barikan Topci?

Çağla Barikan Topci is a cat-mom academic who graduated from Eskişehir University Department of Turkish Language and Literature in 2014, Istanbul Kültür University the Department of Turkish Language and Literature Master’s Program in 2017, and continues to study her Doctorate Program in Istanbul Kültür University the Department of Turkish Language and Literature.

How did your process of joining Kültür Family develop?

My process started on a snowy winter day. I had the honour of meeting my venerable professor Prof. Dr Ömür Ceylan while I was a master’s program student at Istanbul University. The first time I saw Istanbul Kültür University was the time when I visited my professor Ömür. With each visit, I used to feel the warm family atmosphere of my professor and his team. I applied to the Research Assistant staff on a snowy day in 2016 and since then I am a member of Kültür.

Unfortunately, coaches and organizations have a mixed level of understanding of the research and study of the science of learning. Sometimes coaches and organizations build their teaching on myths and platitudes more than science. Sometimes there isn't any science applied at all. While there are thousands of books and websites a coach can consult to better understand technical and tactical aspects of the game, there is nothing for a coach to consult that explicitly examines the teaching problems on the field, the court, the rink, and the diamond. Until now. Intended to offer lessons and guidance that are applicable to coaches of any sporting endeavor including everyone from parent volunteers to professional coaches and private trainers, Lemov brings the powerful science of learning to the arena of sports coaching to create the next generation of championship caliber coaches.
