2.5 Million Euros of Support for Project to Kültür 
 

Our University, which applied to the Horizon Europe / ERA Chairs call, which aims to improve the scientific capacity of European Union (EU) member and candidate countries and encourage participation in this field, with the "Spectroscopy@IKU" project, became the first Turkish university to receive 2.5 million euros of support.

Great Success from Our Students in Digital Urbanization Competition 
 

The event "DIGITALIZATION OF FUTURE URBAN LIFE STYLE" organized by İstanbul Kültür University Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences and hosted by "1 DECEMBRIE 1918" University of Alba lulia (Romania), with the participation of South-West University in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria) and Obuda University (Hungary) was held in the city of Alba lubia in Romania between 20-26 June 2024 within the scope of ERASMUS+ BIP (Blended Intensive Programs). A total of 15 teams participated in the “Hackathon in4itUAB” competition, which was part of the event organized under the sponsorship and partnership of Bosch, Continental, Banca Transilvania, Albatros Gold SRL, Ipec, Info Group and Municipality of Alba lulia. In the competition in which 4 teams consisting of our undergraduates took part, the projects prepared under the title of digital urbanization were successfully presented to a jury of ten people.

With the support of the IKU International Relations Unit, in the competition organized and run by Prof. Dr. Emel Yavuz (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science), Res. Assist. Ayşe Nur Altunsoy (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science), Res. Assist. Tuğba Sarıcaoğlu (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science), Yaren Durmaz (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science), Doğan Zeki Muratoğlu (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science), the "K-Rod Smart Cane" project came first, and the "TarGO Microprocessor Based Smart Agricultural Technology" project came second among 15 teams.

In addition, at the "Difffusion Pop Culture & Business" festival held in Alba Iulia between June 21 and 23, 2024, as a leg of the BIP event, our four teams presented their project ideas to angel investors of companies and organizations such as Growceanu and Transylvanian Angels Network and received training on building startups and seeking investors. We believe that our students, who were also part of a workshop where they received valuable tips on how to put their ideas into practice, will maintain their success by using the knowledge they have acquired.

We congratulate all our teams on their success. We would also like to thank the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science for organizing this event, where Istanbul Kültür University students increased their international recognition.
 
Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarıer's Second Patent was Registered and Published 
 

Our Faculty of Engineering academician Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarıer (IKU) and Prof. Dr. Emel Önder Karaoğlu (ITU, Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design)'s second international patent titled "WEBS WITH COAXIAL NANOFIBER STRUCTURE, A TEXTILE PRODUCT CONTAINING THESE WEBS AND A PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF (KOAKSİYEL NANOLİF YAPILI AĞLAR, BU AĞLARI İÇEREN BİR TEKSTİL ÜRÜNÜ VE HAZIRLANMA YÖNTEMİ)” was registered by the UK Patent Office on 15.05.2024 with the number GB2597373.

The invention relates to bio-based nanofiber networks capable of heat management in the regions of low temperature (T<18°C), normal temperature (18°C<T<43°C) and high temperature (43°C<T<70°C), a nanocomposite textile product containing these nanofiber networks and the preparation method of this product. These nanocomposite products have a high potential to be used as temperature-controlled packaging materials in the transportation boxes of biomedical products and medical products such as drugs, blood and blood derivatives, serum and biomedical products and in storage and transportation containers of ready-to-eat foods such as ice cream, cooked fish and meat and cold drinks that need to be stored and transported in the low temperature range. Another significant application area could be biotechnology. Cold and hot treatment materials can be made. Biomedical materials for thermal therapy, wearable thermal sensors can be made. It can be used in personal protective clothing systems for athletes, soldiers and outdoor workers. It can be utilized in solar energy panels, thermoelectric system designs and electronic circuit protections for hot climates. While these nanocomposites can be used separately, nanocomposites that are functional in different temperature ranges can be combined and applied in buildings, tents and similar shelters, vehicles such as cars and airplanes, temperature-controlled transportation, and medical applications.

IKU İGESİB Took Part in the "Women Entrepreneurs Meeting" 
 

At the "Women Entrepreneurs Meeting" held at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Yenikapı Event Area between 20-23 June 2024, in cooperation with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality CSO Directorate and the Istanbul Culture and Arts Association, T.R. Istanbul Kültür University Business Development Industrial and Sectoral Relations Unit (İGESİB) also took part. 

On the first day of the event, our Head of the İGESİB Unit lecturer Selen Çeliköz and one of our academicians from the Department of Business Administration, Assist. Prof. Burçin Ataseven Doğru, had a conversation on "Women's Entrepreneurship in Türkiye".

In the interview, the importance of women's employment in achieving "Gender Equality", which is the 5th goal of the "Sustainable Development Goals", was emphasized. In this context, information was given about the training provided at our university and the state supports provided to women entrepreneurs. At the end of the talk, where the challenges faced by women and how women entrepreneurs can adapt to the green transformation were discussed, a survey was conducted on the needs and demands of the audience in the field of entrepreneurship and the results were recorded. In order to share the needs and demands in the field of entrepreneurship at the T.R Istanbul Kültür University Business Development, Industrial and Sectoral Relations Unit stand which remained open until the end of the fair, all female entrepreneurs were enabled to fill out the survey form both with the QR Code shared during the speech and by visiting our stand. Additionally, books from IKU Publishing House were gifted to the participants. 

At the fair, which offers a diverse entrepreneurship climate, IKU İGESİB officials had the chance to meet with valuable women entrepreneurs from all over Türkiye, including earthquake zones.
 
Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ Eraslan's Paintings will be Exhibited at Bodrum International IAAF Art Fair 
 

The paintings of Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ Eraslan, our Head of Department of Arts and Culture Management, will be exhibited in two different galleries at the Bodrum International IAAF Art Fair, which will be held between July 3-7.
 
The Happy Day of Our Graduate 

Didar Karataş, one of our 2017 graduates of the Faculty of Law and IKUMED member with number 2537, married Direnç Dedeoğlu. We wish happiness to our graduate.

"VII. International Turkish Language and Literature Student Congress (TUDOK VII)" 
 

"VII. International Turkish Language and Literature Student Congress (TUDOK VII)" will be held by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature to provide students studying at universities in Türkiye and abroad with the opportunity to present their scientific knowledge in an international setting. The congress, where papers will be presented in the fields of Old Turkish Literature, New Turkish Literature, Turkish Language, Turkish Folk Literature and Folklore, will be held between July 1 and 3 at Bakırköy campus, Ataköy building.
 
Guangdong Foreign Studies University of China Campus Visit 
 

A collaboration contract will be signed between Istanbul Kültür University and Guangdong Foreign Studies University of China on Monday, July 1, between 10.00-11.30 hours, organized by the International Relations Unit.
