The “Framework Cooperation Protocol” was signed in December 2021 between Istanbul Kültür University Rector Prof. Dr. Hanife Öztürk Akkartal and The Euro-Arab Organization For Environment, Water, And Desert Researches Secretary General Dr. Lutfi ALmomani.

Within the scope of the protocol, it was decided to cooperate especially in organizing conferences, symposiums and workshops, creating joint research projects, sharing research, publications, scientific studies and experiences, and organizing conferences and training courses.

There were meetings held in various subjects in order to realize a collaboration between Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture and Fatih Municipality. The process which has started with the visitation of Fatih Municipality to IKU Faculty of Architecture on January 19, 2022 regarding the Istanbul Historical Peninsula, continues thrivingly. Department of Architecture and Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design aim to increase the awareness of the students about cultural and environmental properties by enabling them to work in various fields on the Historical Peninsula, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, both as a diploma subject and in the context of other projects and courses. In the visitation held in January 27, 2022 to Fatih Municipality, with the participation of Fatih Deputy Mayor Mehmet Özçelik, issues were detailed and evaluations were made on topics such as internship opportunities, joint projects, competitions and workshops for our students.

Evren Yılmaz and Seçgin Köroğlu, academicians of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (MYO) Program of Flight Operations Management, met with Fatih Koşak, Chief Director of Istanbul Atatürk Airport State Airports Authority. During the meeting, which was very productive for both sides, the development of aviation, internship and cooperation were discussed.

A brief is organized by the Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, Secretary of Technology and Project Support Unit & Coordinator of Scientific Research Projects with the participation of the Faculty of Architecture’s academic staff. In the brief, which was conducted on January 20, 2022, Thursday at 13.00, Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız made a presentation including the terms of application, what must be done for application and the supports to get. The brief ended with answering the questions of academic staff.

Molecular Biology and Genetics Club organized a seminar on January 24, 2022. Assoc. Prof. Nurcan Orhan and Res. Assist. Hande Yüceer from Istanbul University Aziz Sancar Institute of Experimental Medicine attended as speakers to the seminar which was carried out via CATS. Molecular Biology and Genetics Club students were the moderators of the seminar, in which the academic staff, students and graduates of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics took part. In the event, detailed information was given about which tests neuropsychologists prefer in the detection of complex neurodegenerative diseases and the scoring of the tests. After sampling from the practices carried out in animal behaviour tests and the studies they carried out, the current practices and ethical concerns in the use of experimental animals were emphasized. The seminar ended with the answers to the questions of the students.

Lecturer Kübra Mertel from the academics of IKU Vocational School, wrote the chapter titled “Motivasyon Araçları ve Çalışan Güçlendirme” of the book titled “Stratejik İnsan Kaynakları Yönetimi ve Çağdaş Yaklaşımlar” edited by Prof. Dr. Yonca Deniz Gürol and Tuğba Karaboğa.

Could you briefly describe yourself? Who is Res. Assist. Furkan Evliyaoğlu in 2-3 sentences?

Hello. I was born in 1992 in Malatya. I completed primary and high school in Malatya. Then I came to Istanbul for my university education. I graduated from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Architecture in 2015. Since the dream of being an academician has always existed in my career plan, I then started my graduate education at Istanbul Technical University. While continuing my master's degree, I started to work as a research assistant at Istanbul Kültür University. Currently, I am continuing my doctorate education at Istanbul Technical University.

How did your participation in Kültür Family evolve?

My biggest help in this regard was Assist Prof Andaç Toksoy, my cousin who graduated from IKU and is still an academician in the Department of Business Administration. Unfortunately, I did not know when the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design opened its research assistant staff. My cousin saw the ad and informed me. Since he has been working here for many years, I knew and trusted the institution beforehand. Considering his positive experiences, I immediately applied for it. The next process was similar to all other candidates. However, if my cousin hadn't shared the post with me, I probably wouldn't have been able to apply because I didn't know about it.

What are the things that IKU adds to you?

I can say that IKU has added a lot to me. First of all, this is where my academic career started. Therefore, it contributed a lot to me in terms of experience. Our professors in the department made important academic contributions. Afterwards, I think we have a very good synergy as a department. I learned how important synergy and solidarity in the work environment is. I also think that I have made very good friendships here.
