IKU Industrial Engineering Club organized a webinar titled "Secrets of Success and Communication" on Thursday, 18 March 2021, at 20.30. Executive Coach, Tutor and Author İlker Canbulut attended the event held on ZOOM platform as a speaker. Canbulut presented his signed book “Zirvedeki Seni Bul” to a person attending the event.

The Department of Economics organized a webinar titled "Islamic Economics Scientific Research Program and Its Contributions to Science" on the Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application on Friday, March 19, 2021. Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty Member & Islamic Economics Research Center Advisory Board Member Prof Dr. Hakan Sarıbaş attended the event where Research Assistant İsmail Ertek, a faculty member of the Department of Economics, was the moderator. In the first part of the event, the definition and importance of scientific research and the way economics is handled in the context of different schools were examined. In the second part, the basic assumptions of Islamic Economics, Islamic economics models in the context of similar and different aspects of mainstream economics are examined and examples are presented in the context of these models. The webinar ended after the question and answer session.

The third event of the IKU Marketing Club was organized with the participation of  Neuro-mar, Neuro Marketing and Communications Consulting Founder & Neuromarketing Consultant / Turkey and Middle East Representative Seda Genç on March 20, 2021 Saturday. The head of the IKU Marketing Club Sabri Öztürk also attended the event in which Marketing Club Consultant Lecturer Emine Anık was the moderator. After Seda Genç's presentation on "Neuromarketing", the event ended with answering the questions of the participants.

Lecturer Emin Aksan, an academic from IKU Vocational School, visited the General Manager of Florya Hospital Kadir Öz.  At the meeting held on Friday, March 19, 2021, plans were made regarding sector-university cooperation.

In cooperation with the Department of Economics and FODER, an e-seminar titled "Young People Knowing Their Budget" was held on the ZOOM platform on Monday, March 22, 2021, at 17:00, as part of the Global Money Week. At the event where FODER Secretary General, Dr. Yasemin Demirbağ was the speaker, issues such as budget, savings, income-expenditure balance, investment, demand-need distinction were discussed by conveying general information about financial literacy awareness and money management.

The guest of the event, which was held in cooperation with Ataturkist Thought Club and Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolution Research and Application Center, on Thursday, March 18 at 14:00 on Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application, was Dr. Ergün Aybars.

Prof. Dr. Aybars explained how the historical process has progressed starting from the Morea rebellion and how the Dardanelles naval battle was reached. Then he told us that the circumstances in which the Republic of Turkey was born from these dates. He summarized the countries' view of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and finished his speech.

The event ended after the questions of the participants were answered.

The team whose members are Merve Boğatekin, Merve Tonyalı, and Melisa Aytek, students of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Istanbul Kültür University, won the first prize in the 12th National Furniture Competition Kitchen-Bathroom category. We congratulate our students and wish them continued success.

The Department of Architecture organized an e-seminar titled "What To Do From Today For A Successful Business Life" on Monday, March 22, 2021 within the scope of the "Quality in the Building Production Process" course, conducted by Assist. Prof. Gamze Alptekin. Civil Engineer and Instructor Cem Kafadar attended the event as a speaker. The seminar, which was also attended by people who are not members of IKU, focused on 20 basic factors that bring success in professional life. The event ended after the question and answer session.

The Leadership and Management Club organized a webinar titled "Step by Step into My Career" on Google Meets on Saturday, March 20 at 19.00. Shell Turkey Human Resources Manager Eda Güzeldemir Demiray and Shell Retail Sales Ankara Are Manager Melek Kılıç attended the event as a speaker. In the event, which was held in two sessions, our guests shared their experiences in order to prepare students for business life. They explained their experiences in human resources and sales-marketing areas, the difficulties of business life and how to deal with these difficulties.

The event ended with answering the questions of the participants.

The 5th term registrations of the Peer Mentorship program, which was carried out by the Kültür Point in order to improve the first year experience at the university and to create a network of solidarity among students, started.

Applications for the program, where 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students from all departments and programs can participate voluntarily, will be made through the form on the Kültür Point website until May 17, 2021.

The photography exhibition named "In Quarantine", which also includes the works of Asst. Prof. Aliye Rahşan Karabetça, one of our academicians in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, was opened to visitors online. In the exhibition, it is aimed to convey to the audience the mood of photographers and the quarantine process they have experienced in the home environment during the pandemic period we have been in since March 2020. The exhibition will be open to visitors on www.karantinadasergisi.com until May 1, 2021.

Second guest of Culture of Life Academy Now and in the Future- Self Improvement Workshop in the New Normal was Career Coach and Lecturer Zühal Yiğit. The event organized with the title “Business-Personal Life Relationship, Being Planned, The Skill of Deciding Our Priorities” on March 24, Wednesday, at 19.00 via Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application.

Discussing about the times when she worked in the Department of Human Resources, Zülal Yiğit also said, the approaches such as “If you are talented you will be successful” are important but the most important aspect is to be motivated at all times.

“Remember, it does not matter if the flower is half bloomed, we will still say the flower has bloomed”

Yiğit, stated that people need to congratulate themselves by realizing the change in them. 

The "Peer Mentorship" program, which was initiated by the Kültür Point in the 2017-2018 Academic Year to facilitate the first year experiences of our new students;  to contribute to their personal development and to help them gain corporate identity, has continued in the 2020-2021 Academic Year with their 4th term mentors. .

132 mentor candidates have started their mentoring duties as of October 5, 2020 after the training they received in the program, which was conducted under the management of the Kültür Point Unit Vice Head Mücella Ezgin.

Our first year students, who started their university life in the shadow of pandemic conditions, managed to get rid of their worries and question marks about university life with the support and guidance of their peer mentors. Our students who cannot come to the campus and cannot even find the opportunity to meet their classmates, meet and get together with their classmates in digital environments with the support of their peer mentors; and found the opportunity to receive answers to questions about the opportunities offered by our university, our digital learning platforms, department and course information.

The Peer Mentorship program, which lasted for about 7 months, ended with a closing and certification ceremony held on March 22, 2021. At the ceremony where peer mentors shared their experiences of mentoring in the distance education process and had the opportunity to evaluate the whole year, the results of the Peer Mentorship Evaluation Report for 2021 were also shared.

According to the evaluation survey, the satisfaction rate of our first-year students in the distance education process with their peer mentors was determined as 85.8%.

The 2020-2021 Academic Year Peer Mentorship Program ended with a closing and certification ceremony on Monday, March 22, 2020.

At the end of the 4th term Peer Mentoring period, according to the evaluations obtained in the survey conducted for the first year students, the satisfaction rate of our first year students during the distance education process was determined as 87.8%.

The work of Lecturer Dr. Gökhan Kırbaç, Head of Air Logistics Program at IKU Vocational School titled "The Role of Blockchain Technology in Ensuring Digital Transformation for Businesses: Advantages, Challenges and Application Steps" published at the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI) Proceedings, which is the publisher of open access scientific journals.

The Department of Economics, organized an e-seminar titled “Energy Sector and The Expectations for the Future” moderated by one of our academics Assoc. Prof. Begüm Erdil Şahin on March 24, 2021 Wednesday, at 14.00. In the seminar, in which Emre Yıldız, Shell Energy Turkey Country Manager and Member of Board of Directors, attended as the speaker, the expectations about the sector’s future, sustainable energy policies and the global developments in the sector were discussed.

IKU ELT Club organized an event titled "Language Teaching in Distance Education: Online Teaching during Covid-19 Pandemic" on the Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application on Tuesday, March 23 at 14:00. Asst. Prof. Tuncer Can, Lecturer Dr. Gökçe Kurt Tiftik and Duygu Erdoğan attended the event as speakers.

Aiming to provide English teacher candidates with the skills they need to keep up with the change brought about by distance education and even lead them, our guests also introduced the tools and methods they can use in distance education. Communication Arts Department organized an e-seminar titled "Effective Press Release Writing Techniques" on Thursday, March 25 at 14:00. Mehmet Emin Aslan, one of the editors of Habertürk Media Group who attended the event as a speaker explained to the audience the points that need to be taken into consideration when writing press releases over the press releases belonging to many important institutions and brands, the frequent mistakes and the important criteria for writing an effective press release.

Designer Ece Yalım was the first guest of the seminar series organized annually by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Students showed great interest to the seminar, which was held on Tuesday, March 23 with the theme of "Human-Space-Object" via Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application. In the seminar, the relationship between human, space and object was explained through design.

Can you briefly describe yourself? Who is Ezgi Uygun with 2-3 sentences?

I was born on February 12, 1994 in Istanbul. I must say that I am a typical Aquarius. 😊 I started my business life in 2015. As of April 2018, I have been working at Istanbul Kültür University Human Resources Department. I am someone who believes that the most important feature that keeps life in balance is to communicate and lives with this belief.

How has your participation in the Kültür Family developed?

While studying at Anadolu University Human Resources Management Department, I joined the Sabancı University Payroll and Personal Affairs team. During my time there, I improved myself a lot on the Human Resources side, but I had to make my own way and started researching. As a result of my meeting with İris Defne Başocakçı, who was the Head of the Human Resources Department at that time, I left the university where I was working voluntarily and joined the Kültür family.
