The English-language undergraduate programs in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Industrial Engineering at Istanbul Kültür University's Faculty of Engineering have been accredited for a period of two years, from May 1, 2026, to September 30, 2028, following an evaluation conducted by the Association for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Education Programs (MÜDEK). Our departments have also earned the EUR-ACE label for the same period.

Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu and Prof. Dr. Evrim Özkan attended the coordination meetings held in Ponte de Lima, Portugal, hosted by Previform from June 29 to July 3, 2026, representing the team from the Department of Architecture at Istanbul Kültür University’s Faculty of Architecture, a partner in the project titled “EPD-NET – Filling the Gap: Development of Ecological Planning and Design Learning Network and Adaptive Smart Training Module for Disaster Resilient and Sustainable Cities,” which is supported under the ERASMUS-EDU-2024-PI-ALL-INNO call.

Our Head of the Department of Common Courses, Assoc. Prof. Selda Salman's article titled "A New Concept in the Eighteenth Century: The Problem of Apperception and Kant" has been published in Felsefe Arkivi, one of Türkiye’s most established philosophy journals, which has been published by Istanbul University Press since 1945.

Examining the historical background of the concept of “apperception” (self-consciousness / consciousness of perception) in the context of its emergence and development in the eighteenth century, the article offers a perspective for understanding Immanuel Kant’s approach to this concept. The study comparatively examines how thinkers such as Leibniz, Wolff, Tetens, and Mérian approached the concept, while also analyzing the place of Kant’s concept of “transcendental apperception” in the history of philosophy and the ongoing debates regarding this concept in contemporary literature.

Ferhat Biricik, a graduate of our Department of Visual Communication Design, achieved significant success at national and international film festivals with his animation graduation project titled “Once Upon a Time in Cyberspace,” which he prepared last year under the supervision of Assist. Prof. M. Orhan Göztepe.

Continuing its successful festival run, the project was awarded the “First Prize” in the Animation Student Category by Fenerbahçe University, the “Best Scientific Content Award” at the 5th Universal Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Festival, and the “Best Original Music Award” by Galatasaray University.

Having been a finalist at numerous prestigious festivals and successfully garnering international attention, “Once Upon a Time in Cyberspace” has most recently earned a spot in the selection for the Athens Film Festival held in the U.S. Ferhat Biricik’s animation project continues its journey and evaluation process at various festivals around the world.

The 29th International Architecture and Life Congress, organized by the Bursa Branch of the Chamber of Architects under the Turkish Chamber of Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), was held in Bursa from April 24–26, 2026.

Held under the theme “The Future of Life, Cities, and Architecture,” the congress aimed to provide an interdisciplinary platform addressing current transformations in cities, architecture, and the built environment from environmental, social, and technological perspectives.

Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture and session chair at the congress, presented the paper titled “From Traditional Arab Dwellings in the Middle East to a New Biophilic Design Approach” together with master’s student Duaa A.L. Almadhoun. The study, developed for publication in the conference proceedings, was submitted last week. It is scheduled to be published soon.

Book chapters prepared by faculty members and students from the Department of Industrial Engineering have been published in the book AI-Driven Production with Green Sustainability, released by Springer Publishing. The chapters included in the book and their authors are as follows:

The Istanbul Kültür University Handball Team participated in the second Beach Handball Tournament held in Çiftlikköy, Yalova, between July 10-12, 2026. Featuring competition among seven women's and seven men's teams, the tournament took place in an enjoyable atmosphere where sportsmanship and friendship took center stage.

Composed of both domestic and international students, our team competed in a spirit of fair play guided by the motto "Sport is Kültür", demonstrating team spirit on the court and successfully representing our University. Through their exemplary athletic conduct, they perfectly embodied the spirit of Istanbul Kültür University.
