Istanbul Kültür University Communication Arts Department students aim to produce a series of “Mind Scales” toy designed for children with dyslexia within the scope of social responsibility projects.

In the toy industry, students of Communication Arts Department who want to point out that toys for children with dyslexia disorder are accessible to families with high socio-economic income, based on the slogan” Every child is special“, they designed and produced a wooden toy called” Mind scales " for children aged 2-5 from low-income families with dyslexia disorders.

Defne Güre, Ece Pehlivan and Muhammet Doğukan Turhan, who studied at the Communication Arts Department of Iku Faculty of Art and design, aiming to help children to know the numbers better and prevent dyscalculia disorder through the toy” Mind Scales“, completed the first step of their social responsibility projects under the coordination of Research Assistant Yakup Sagıroğlu within the scope of the” seminar v " course.

Students expect brands with high social sensitivity to contact themselves, who will patent the Mind Scales toy and put it into mass production with a more economical price policy.

Adopting the mission of “environmentally conscious, nature-protecting young people”, İstanbul Kültür University students implemented a social responsibility project under the name of “Clean Your Future” to create social awareness about environmental awareness.

 With the project of “Clean you Future” that is realized within the scope of “Seminar V” course by Kamuran Erol, Oğuzhan Kahraman, Gökçe Güney, Sima Üstünkaya and Taha Altun, students of IKU Faculty of Art and Design Department of Communication Arts, and under the coordinatorship of Inst. Yakup Sağıroğlu, students aim to raise awareness about environmental cleaning by doing environmental cleaning in various districts of Istanbul on the 15th of every month.

In the project that the students put into practice within the scope of “Seminar V” by being inspired by World CleanUp Day on the question of "Why should only September 15th be cleanup day?” environmental cleaning activities have been held in Taksim Square, Beşiktaş (beach, market, Akaretler) and Avcılar in Istanbul so far.

For environmental volunteers who want to join and follow, our students come togerher with these people via @geleceginitemizle instagram account. Our students determine the neighborhood where the cleaning movement will take place every month with a voting system that is held on the same social media account. Young people, whose neighborhoods they will clean until May, will be cleaning Bakırköy Beach on February 15th, Beylikdüzü on March 15th and Büyükada on April 15th.

Students who follow the motto “It is not a neighborhood to be cleaned; but future...” work for leaving a sustainable and livable Turkey to future generations.

120 students from different universities in Turkey attended the Intercollegiate Photography Competition titled ‘’Lost Professions’’ organized by the İstanbul Kültür University Photography Club. All photos were carefully examined by the selection committee consisting of experts in the field and the winners of the competition were determined. The awards of students who succeed in the competition were presented to the Photography Club board by the İKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Guzel to be delivered to the competitors.

Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit (IKUKAD) hosted the members of the Istanbul Women’s Academy Platform on Thursday, January 23, at the Ataköy campus of our university to carry out the workshop titled “The Language of Colors and Their Effects on Our Business Life”.

The paper titled “Multi-Dimensional Panel Data Gravity Model: an Analysis of APEC Countries”, co-authored by Assist. Prof. Dr. Hatice Nazan Çağlar, head of entrepreneurship department, and Research Assistant Elanur Türküz, one of our faculty members, was published in the Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Kafkas University.

International Relations Unit will organize an "Orientation Program" for the students who come to our university through the Erasmus program in the 2019-2020 academic year. The program, which our university will be introduced to the students who come with the exchange program, will be held in the 2nd floor multi-purpose seminar hall between January 27-31, 2020 (10.00-15.00 hours).

I completed my undergraduate education at Istanbul Technical University Interior Architecture Department;  my master's degree at Kadir Has University Design Program; and my PhD education at Istanbul Kültür University. I am married and have one and half year old twin sons.
