Puma mobile, which is stored in the İKÜ Design Factory under the project management of Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Department of Information Systems and Technologies, was launched. The launch which took place on Friday, December 15, at the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building was attended by Our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, our Secretary General Ender Rıza Ekici, our Design Factory Manager & Deputy Head of Department of Information Systems and Technologies Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay, academic-administrative staff as well as many students.

Speaking to our Rector Fadime Üney Yüksektepe at the launch, she said, “We are excited today. We are together with our students and colleagues at the Puma launch. Puma is a platform where non-educational activities can be followed. There are many courses that show their student knowledge, and they try to gain different methods and skills through these courses. All these skills and collectibles are strengthened and developed through the clubs, competitions, projects and other activities of the students they participate in. We want to continue these course activities and participate in their portfolios within the scope of this Puma project. Just as registration labels are obtained for courses and documents are recorded, they will graduate with a similar document for non-course registrations. These will also stand out more than other competitors. You have registered them all, they will be using them as official documents. At the same time, you can examine for yourself which features they have developed and which are missing, and the development programs will be implementing the missing ones before graduation. Istanbul Kültür University is among the universities that have always been a leader with its digital projects. “I would like to thank all my colleagues who contributed.” 

"Images of the Century: Republic and Painting-Sculpture Exhibition", consisting of a special selection from Istanbul Kültür University Akıngüç Art Collection, opened at IKUSAG on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. The opening speeches of the exhibition were made by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and our Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek.

In this exhibition, which is a look back on the centenary of the Republic, a cross-section of the changes experienced with the Republic's principle of bringing art to all segments of society is presented.

In the exhibition, the comprehensive role of art as one of the cornerstones of the Republic is revealed through thematic exhibitions such as "Images of Revolution", "Images of Social Change", "Images of Modern Art", "Images of the City", "Images of Nature", "Images of Women", "Institutions and Activities Carrying the Images", "Art Lovers in Pursuit of Images".

The exhibition, which includes a special selection from the Akıngüç Art Collection of Istanbul Kültür University, as well as imaginary responses that constitute an art historical inventory of the field of painting and sculpture, with explanatory texts, can be visited until February 21, 2024.

The winners of the international TraMod AWARDS 2023 competition, which focuses on the interactions between tradition and modernity in architecture and design and includes world-renowned architects among the jury members, were awarded. The competition organized in the professional and student categories consisted of architecture, interior architecture, product, and fashion design. The award ceremony, held on Monday, December 18th at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in Istanbul Kültür University Bakırköy Campus Ataköy building, was attended by world-renowned architects Emre Arolat, Tim Fu and Arash Tehrani and Interior Architect Natalia Orca.

The competition, organized by TraMod ACADEMY in collaboration with Istanbul Kültür University, Islamic Azad University and Eskişehir Technical University, was directed by Dr. Javad Eiraji. The jury members included nationally and internationally renowned architects, interior designers and fashion designers such as Sanjay Puri, Emre Arolat, Alireza Taghaboni, Neslihan Dostoğlu, Ali A. Alrauf, Hatice Gökçe, Tim Fu, Alper Çabuk, Habibeh Madjdabadi, Osman Tutal, Rıza Najafian, Luca Poian, Rizvi Hasan, Siavaş Sufinejad, Adeyemo Shokunbi, Natalia Orca and Arash G. Tahrani.

The award ceremony was attended by the Dean of Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, Dean of Eskişehir Technical University Faculty of Architecture and Design Prof. Dr. Osman Tutal, Prof. Dr. Alper Çabuk, Dean of Işık University Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture Prof. Dr. Osman Demirbaş, Dr. Javad Eiraji from Islamic Azad University Department of Architecture, Master Architects Emre Arolat, Tim Fu and Arash Tehrani and many academicians, architects, designers and students.

Prof. Dr. Dostoğlu: There are Very Famous Architects and Designers Among Us

Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, Dean of Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Architecture, said, "We are organizing this event together with Islamic Azad University in Iran and Eskişehir Technical University. We expected both students and professionals to produce projects in four basic fields such as architecture, interior architecture, fashion design and industrial design in a process that ensures cooperation and integration between tradition and modernity and directs them to think about it. Today, there are very famous architects and designers among us. We wanted students and professionals to watch these awards on an international scale in the exhibition, to see the projects, and especially for our students, we wanted it to be an event that would provide a one-on-one meeting with the international environment."

"Many Countries of the World Participated in the Competition"

Prof. Dr. Dostoğlu said, "There were participants from many countries around the world in this competition. We think that students can perceive the criteria according to which the award winners were selected by looking at the projects and evaluate these works for their own development. For this reason, we care very much. Istanbul Kültür University collaborated with two different universities on both an international and national scale. I think that the continuation of such collaborations and the development of dialogues are very important for both academics, students and institutions."

The play titled "A Murder in Rome", which deals with society's perspective on marriage from a entertaining perspective, was staged for theater lovers at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in our Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 19.00.

The play starring Çiçek Dilligil and Kubilay Penbeklioğlu, also included other valuable actors such as Melek Şahin, Dilara Mücaviroğlu, Burak Uyanık. In the play, in which various forms of love were depicted and constantly made the audience to question with its complex depictions of relationships, a day the characters spent in Rome, the city of romance, was staged. Only those who were patient enough to watch through the whole play could figure out what was meant by "murder", which was emphasized a lot in the play.

The play "A Murder in Rome", which made the audience lose track of time with its entertaining dialogues that keep the audience glued to their seats, was well received with its laughter-filled performance.

A panel talk on the "Ukraine War Diaries" episode of the award-winning documentary series "Off the Grid" produced by TRT World, which was shot in Ukraine and won the 44th International Emmy Award, with the documentary series crew namely the director Mouhssine Ennaimi, Writer / Producer Alexandra Pauliat and TRT World Channel Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Bora Bayraktar participating in the event as the speakers, was organized with the joint efforts of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema and the Department of International Relations.

The panel talk, held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, was moderated by the IKU Head of the Department of International Relations, Prof. Dr. Çağla Gül Yesevi and Dr. Selda Salman Sakızlı from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema.

In the panel talk conducted in English, the Director Ennaimi and Producer Pauliat talked about the challenging production process of the documentary and the political and ethical perspectives on the documentary while Assoc. Prof. Bayraktar examined the political processes of broadcasting the production. The team of the documentary series answered the questions of IKU students and faculty members.

The panel talk was concluded with the IKU Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, IKU Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek and IKU Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema Assoc. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz thanking the team of the documentary series and presenting them with a memorial plate.

Dressbest company founder Tülin Yazıcı and her daughter Melis Yazıcı gave an inspirational panel talk about life and business life to the students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at IKU Küçükçekmece campus on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema organized the "Alumni Panel" event to build a bridge between graduates of different semesters and students studying in the department. The event, which was held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in the 4th floor multi-purpose hall of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building, was moderated by the Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema Assoc. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz and academician Assist. Prof. Ayşe Duygu Atasoy Aktaş. Department graduates Doğuşcan Dalkıran, Enes Düzgün, Oğuzhan Gergin and Öykü Develioğlu attended the event as invited speakers.

Graduates shared with the students the experiences and learning processes they gained during their studies in the department, as well as their journeys to find a job after graduation and their professional experiences in the sector. They also gave advice to students in the department for before and after graduation.

The event ended with a question-answer session.

Within the scope of "TÜBİTAK 2214-A International Doctoral Research Scholarship Program", one of our faculty members from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Res. Assist. Halenur Evrendilek has started to work under the mentorship of Julie Stebbins for her doctoral thesis, new projects, and clinical experience at the Oxford Gait Analysis Laboratory of the Nuffield Department of Orthopedic, Rheumatological and Musculoskeletal Sciences at the University of Oxford in England for 6 months. We congratulate our teacher for this great success and wish her continued success.

An event titled "New Media and Personal Branding" was held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (Vocational School).  Brandİstanbul PR Agency President Hatice Kumalar attended the event, held with the joint efforts of the E-Commerce and Marketing Program and the Public Relations and Promotion Program, as a speaker.  Topics such as public relations, media and personal branding were discussed at length at the event.

The second Istanbul Human Resources Forum was held at the Istanbul Congress Center on Friday, December 15, with the theme "Society 5.0". Kültür Point Career Specialist Ecem Uçar attended the event on behalf of our University.

The forum, which brought together human resources professionals of public institutions, private sector organizations, local governments and the academic community, and representatives of international umbrella organizations, started with the speech of Assoc. Prof. Salim Atay, Head of the Presidential Human Resources Office. He gave information on issues such as the annual work of the Human Resources office, job and internship opportunities. The forum continued with the speech of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

The first session of the forum started with the panel titled "Talent Management in the Defense Industry". Moderated by Defense Industry Vice President Prof. Dr. Hakan Karataş; Human resources heads and managers of ASELSAN, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, STM, TEI and TUSAŞ gave information on issues such as company recruitment, recruitment processes and employee satisfaction.

TBB Secretary General Dr. Hayri Baraçlı moderated the second session titled "Smart Cities for a Human-Centered Society". Environment, urbanism and climate change were discussed in the session attended by Adjunct.

Prof. Göksenin Öztürkeri, Dr. Akın Kısa and Dr. Kaan Yıldızgöz. The third session, titled "Ministry of National Defence - Defence, Security and Society 5.0", started with the opening speech of Deputy Minister Bilal Durdalı. The session was moderated by Artillery Staff Major Serkan Uyar; Air Supply Captain Gökhan Kaldırım and Naval Engineer First Lieutenant Kübra Çakmak Aydın participated as panelists.

An event titled "Career Path: Conversations With Alumni" was held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023  with the joint efforts of Vision Club and Kültür Point.  Apple Store Manager İnci Özdemir Ünalan, a graduate of Istanbul Kültür University, and FLO Regional Sales Manager Burak Akyüz attended the event held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus as speakers.  At the event, IKU graduates talked about their experiences in university life and shared their career developments with the students.

The "Career Method 2 in New Media - Alumni Panel" event was organized with the joint efforts of the Department of New Media and Communication, New Media and Communication Club and Kültür Point on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.  Among the professionally experienced IKU graduates to attend the event as speakers, Lecturer Mert Efe Anğın from IKU Department of New Media and Communication, Alfa Publishing Group Account Specialist Sercan Kurtez and CRM Medya Social Media Specialist Elif Saatcı shared their experiences and methods on forging their own career paths in the new media sector.  The panel talk, which especially addressed graduates' adaptation process to the industry and career management problems, was received with great interest by the participants.

 In the panel talk including valuable insights for students who want to pursue a career in communication and media,  IKU graduates' experiences in the sector, their transition to work life and their methods to adapting to changing trends of the sector were discussed.

 IKU students were able to ask questions to the panellists and obtain valuable information about sectorial insights and career planning.

An event was organised by Istanbul Kültür University Architecture Club in which graduates and students of the Department of Architecture were brought together at Ataköy International Youth Center on Thursday, December 21, 2023. The event was attended by Canan Ganiç (2011), Hilal Şavlı (2012) and Betül Nur İleri (2020), graduates of the Department of Architecture, who participated as speakers. At the event the graduates shared their professional experiences to the students and answered their questions.

An event titled "Motivation Summit" was organized by the Leadership and Management Club on Thursday, December 21, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. The event was attended by Twiser Chief Growth Officer & Inequality Founding Partner Bahar Taşkın Öztürk and Senior HR Professional Özlem Sökmen, who participated as speakers, shared their educational lives and career paths with the students. The guest speakers also talked about the building blocks of motivation in business life and the steps to follow to improve themselves as well as answering the questions of the students.

A panel talk titled "Social Memory Discourse of Architectural Indicators" will be held with the joint efforts of the Department of Communication Arts, Performing Arts Club and Effective Communication Club in order to inform students in a interdisciplinary relations context.  The event, in which Architect, Writer and Poet Lecturer Dr. Ali Günvar is to be the speaker, will be held on Monday, December 25, at 11:00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

A conference titled "How to Teach Vocabulary" will be organized by ELT Club in order to provide the students of the Department of English Language Teaching with insights on teaching vocabulary and to show how they can effectively teach what they have learned. The event, in which Assist. Prof. Hakan Dilman from Istanbul Maltepe University is to be the speaker, will be held on Monday, December 25, at 12:00 in the Küçükçekmece campus conference hall.

The award ceremony and colloquium of the "MEKAN2023 / Interior Architecture Students National Graduation Projects Competition", organized for the tenth time by Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, will be held on Monday, December 25, between 14.00-17.00 at İPA Campus.

A panel talk will be held to inform the students about the game industry with the joint efforts of the Department of Cartoon and Animation and the Cartoon and Animation Club. The event, in which Kidding Box Studio Level Designer Serhat Albamya is to be the speaker, will be held on Monday, December 25, at 15.00, in the 2nd floor multi-purpose hall in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The Department of Foreign Language Education will organize a cultural tour to the Basilica Cistern on Tuesday, December 26, in order to inform students about the structural importance of the cistern and its regional historical context.

In cooperation with the Vocational School and the Aviation Club, a trip to Izmir Çiğli 2nd Airborne Command and Izmir Gaziemir Air Technical Schools Command will be held on 26-27 December 2023.

Training will be organized by the Department of Special Education to gain knowledge about the skills of planning and implementing drama activities in the education of individuals with special needs. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Erhan Alabay from the University of Health Sciences. will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, December 26, at 10.00 in the Küçükçekmece campus drama classroom.

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, a talk titled "Content Production and Influencer Marketing" will be held in order to provide students with current approaches to the sector. The event, where Ubeyd Orak, Founder of The People Base Agency, will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, December 26, at 13.00 in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with IKU Young Office and T.R. Ministry of Youth and Sports, a conference titled "Leadership and Teamwork" will be held to inform our students about teamwork and leadership. The event, where AloTech CEO Cenk Soyak will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, December 26, at 13.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

Model United Nations Club (İKUMUN) will hold a meeting on Tuesday, December 26, at 14.00, in the multi-purpose hall on the 1st floor of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building, in order for the members to meet and socialize with each other.

In order to meet the clinical and food needs of our little friends in our campuses, IKU Animal Protection and Survival Club will organize a New Year's donation bazaar on the ground floor of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building between 09.00-18.00 on 27-28 December.

In cooperation with IKU Kültür Point and IBB Kültür A.Ş., a "WinterFest" event will be held in the backyard of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building on Wednesday, December 27, between 11.00-22.30. At the event, where concerts and DJ performances will be held, musician Nova Norda will also take the stage and give Kültür members an unforgettable evening.

In cooperation with the Vocational School and the Aviation Club, a talk titled " Rise of Aviation" will be held in order to convey the current developments in the aviation industry to our students. The event, where AVIOACHING Aviation Founding Board Member and Executive Director Gökhan Beyaz will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, December 27, at 11:00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

IKU Faculty of Science and Letters continues to organize "Coffee is just an Excuse Meetings" in order to share studies that are important in terms of research and analysis in the field of Basic Science and Social Sciences. The seminar titled "On the Last Manuscript of the Book of Dede Korkut and the Dragon Motif" in which Serdar Gürçay, Assist. Prof. from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at 15.00 at Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall.

A film screening event will be organized by the English Literature Society Club to provide the club members the opportunity to get to know one other.  The event, in which the movie "Grinch" is to be screened, will be held on Wednesday, December 27 at 15.30 in the multi-purpose hall on the 2nd floor of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building. 

In order to celebrate the new year and introduce the Nursing Club, the Department of Nursing will organize a New Year's celebration event on Thursday, December 28th between 11.00-15.00 at Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the Psychology Club and the Department of Psychology, a conference titled "Basic Concepts and Practices in Psychodrama" will be organized to inform students about psychodrama. The event, where Expert Clinical Psychologist Ayşe Melek Arslanbenzer will be the speaker, will be held on Thursday, December 28 at 14.00 at Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.
