What are the things IKU adds to you? One of the things IKU has given me is that it offers the academic freedom that feeds me and allows me to do what I love the way I love. The second one is that it gained me friends whom I can share trust, beauties, favors, difficulties, successes, disappointments as brotherlike and sisterlike. Is there a memory that you couldn’t forget in the Kültür part of your life? Actually, I have two memories that I cannot forget, that I still feel touched when I remember. One of our faculty habits was to celebrate after our colleagues' post-graduate, doctoral qualification and doctoral thesis defenses. It must be because I had a very difficult and resource-free doctoral thesis writing process. If I am not mistaken, we congratulated almost all of our faculty doctorates, except for our 4-5 lecturers, which corresponds to the course time. It was one of the most crowded celebrations. We were so crowded that I was very moved to have everyone with me. As a person who has worked in the private sector for a long time and has closely experienced the hierarchy and workplace rules, I also care about my second moment in terms of affecting the working conditions at work like family. My daughter was only one and a half years old and there was no one to take care of my daughter that day. I had to bring her to the faculty. My work was very busy, I was taking Alyoş to leave Ayşegül on the 7th floor for a short time. I got off the elevator, walked a little, the other elevator stopped on the floor. When I turned around, I saw our Honorary President, Master of Civil Engineering Fehamettin Akıngüç. When I came across with our president with a child in my lap during work time, my private sector reflex stepped in and I hid behind the wall. Fehamettin Bey said “Hold on, where are you taking my daughter; let me caress her a bit". We had a conversation, "So your daughter will also be a member of Kultur, she is already in the corridors of the academy. Let the kid walk around, " he said. It was very valuable that he calmed me by sensing my understanding and my anxiety. |
