Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Department of Radio, Television and Cinema attended the general assembly of CILECT, the only official cinema schools association in the world, which was held for the first time this year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. At the meeting where this year's training-interaction strategies of CILECT were discussed and the new board of directors was elected; CILECT to representing our university department, the first members educational institutions from Turkey, its relations with the continuing education of our understanding of the development of European standards and on behalf CILECT continues to strengthen with each passing day.

An e-seminar titled “HR Interviews-1” was held on Thursday, November 12 in cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School (MYO), Kültür Point and Human Resources Club. Buğra Bakan, Senior Recruitment Consultant of Randstad Turkey Sales and Marketing Unit, who participated as a speaker at the event directed by Lecturer Kübra Mertel; answered the questions of our students about sector by sharing his knowledge about recruitment criteria, HR systems in Turkey and counseling. 

Within the scope of the "Culture and Modernization" course conducted by Assist. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikiç in the Department of Communication and Design, an e-conversation titled "The Evolution of the Concept of Culture in Anthropological Perspective: A Brief History" was held under the title of "Sector Meetings". The event, in which Assoc. Prof. Erkan Sakan from Bilgi University was the speaker, was held on Wednesday, November 11 at 17:00 on CATS.

An e-seminar titled “Promotion and Sales Development Methods in Tourism” was organized by Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School (MYO) on Thursday, November 12, 2020. At the event, where Atalay Arıcıoğlu, Sales Director of Ramada Hotel & Suites Istanbul Merter was the speaker; the promotion and sales development methods in accommodation businesses, what was done to manage and increase the decreasing demand especially in city hotels during the pandemic process, and which sales strategies were used etc. were discussed through examples.

Within the scope of the "Film and TV. Management” course conducted by Assist. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikiç in the Communication and Design Department, an e-conversation titled "What to Do When Looking for a Producer for a Film Project" was held under the title of "Sector Meetings". The event, where producer Zeynep Atakan was the speaker, was held on Thursday, November 12th at 15:00 on CATS.

Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture held an online geometry workshop for 6 hours on Saturday, November 14, 2020, carried out by Dr. Suzan Sanlı Esin and Lecturer Pelin Çetken. After the presentations and discussions, a 3-stage study was conducted specifically for a “leaf” image. In the first step, the students were asked to look at this leaf photo and create a lifelike image of it. In the second step, the attempt was made to break this leaf into geometric shapes and represent it as a whole made up of geometric planes. With this process, each student created his / her own repertoire of geometric parts that make up a leaf. In addition, a set of rules was determined by analyzing how these forms came together. In the last step, it was aimed at abstraction of a leaf and to produce a new leaf in its own language with the form repertoire and set of rules obtained independently of the existing leaf. The necessity of a main idea that will guide this abstraction action was emphasized. Thus, 11 original leaf figures with their own stories were produced. After the workshop, the participants were asked what they learned from the process of geometric drawing experiments, what the contribution of researching the order behind the irregular appearance in nature in the context of architectural design.

Within the scope of the "Media Ethics" course conducted by Assist. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikiç in the Communication and Design Department, an e-conversation titled "Social Media and Ethics" was held under the title of "Sector Meetings". The event, in which Journalist-Author Ferhat Ünlü was a speaker, was held on Friday, November 13 at 09:00 on CATS.

Within the scope of the "MIM0003 Architectural Design III" course in the Turkish Program of the Department of Architecture, all project groups carried out by Asist. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, Assist. Prof. Esin Hasgül, Lecturer Dr. Şeyda Şen and Research Assistant Berkay Oskay, with the assistance of Gözde Döşlü, the Psychological Consultant of FMV Ispartakule Işık High School, and with the participation of 11th grade students Selin Köseoğlu, Serra Aydoğmuş and Merve Kemeroğlu came together in a meeting titled “Housing in the Pandemic Process” on Thursday, November 12, 2020. After sharing the general information about architectural education and the examples of the studies carried out within the scope of the course, the Architecture Department students posed their questions about life in dwellings under pandemic conditions, new ways of use and expectations to guest high school students representing the relevant age group as residential users. The meeting, held over Microsoft Teams, ended after mutual information sharing.

The webinar series, titled, “Job Belongs to One Who Knows It: Entrepreneur Models”, organised by Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School (MYO), continued with the interview titled “Current Development in the Climatization Systems” on November 3 Tuesday, 2020. In the webinar, which is moderated by Lecturer Berrak Köten, Lecturer Dr. Barış Safran and Lecturer Burak Öçlü, Uğur Otaran, Founder of Onaran Technology Consultancy was the guest. In the event; the topics such as “Innovative and Environmentally-Friendly Studies”, “Ozone Generator Systems”, “Search for Solutions in the Pandemic”, “Why Ozone Solution?”, “Goals and Necessities”, “Lacks and Misunderstandings” and “Sick Building Syndrome and Bureaucracy” were emphasised.

"Personal Budget Management Project 2nd Talk" was held by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on Friday, November 13 at 17:00.

Ömür Kınay from the Communication and Design Department was the first guest of the series that Etiler Rotaract Club announced that its "Traditional 5 Expert 5 Advice" project will host guests who make a difference with their experiences outside the mainstream career paths under the title of "Those Who Make Their Own Opportunity" this year. A 45-minute talk on the ZOOM platform with the title "On Earthquake, Disability and Creating Your Own Opportunity" on Monday, November 16; After the architects and psychologists told about their experiences and stated that the subject would contribute greatly to their professional lives, it took two hours incessantly.

He experienced the earthquake on August 17 and after, urban transformation, earthquake fault law, world and development of disability studies in Turkey, lived and passed his opportunity. Kınay also shared the activities of the Disabled Students Unit within the body of Istanbul Kültür University, the accessibility of the campuses and culture and arts venues, and the measures taken by IKU in the Istanbul earthquake on September 26, 2019 with the audience. At the end of the event, a donation certificate was given to the Friends of Education (Eğitim Dostları Platformu) Platform in order to thank Kinay. In addition, Rotaract 2420. Regional Representation invited for another event to be attended by all regions.

The short film "Occupational Deformation" shot by Emir Aktel, a second year student of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department, within the scope of the "Cinematography" course, made it to the semi-finals at the 60SIFF - 60 Seconds International Film Festival. We congratulate our student and wish him continued success.

One of our student of the Radio, Television and Cinema Department Ömer Dişbudak’s short film was awarded in ‘’TRT Future Communicators Competition in Home Full of Life category’an competition an event organized by TRT(Turkish Radio and Television Corporation) since 2015 to support broadcasting with the awareness of public service, to contribute to the work of university students, who will become media professionals of tomorrow, and to encourage them.

Caner Gökay Guguk, one of the second-year students of the Public Relations and Publicity Program, was elected as the student representative of the Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School 2020-2021 Academic Year, and Emre Çelikhan, one of the second-year students of the Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program, was elected as the assistant representative. We wish our students success in their duties.

Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design organized a webinar on Thursday, November 19, within the scope of 2020-2021 Fall Semester seminars. Sibel Ertez Ural, a faculty member of the Bilkent University Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design was the speaker of the event, and made a presentation titled "Architectural Space and Color Design".

Istanbul Kültür University Women and Social Research Unit (IKU-KAD) organized an e-seminar where Clinical Psychologist Şafak Ağaca Kemal wasa the speaker at 13:00 on Thursday, November 19, within the scope of the Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women. The concepts of dating and psychological violence, which are described as invisible violence, were discussed. Recognizing the warning signs of dating and psychological violence, which is a confusing and difficult experience for many young and adult women, and catching clues of violence is of great importance. Clinical Psychologist Şafak Ağaca Kemal drew attention to the ways women can protect themselves from violence by recognizing these signals. She stated that most women are unknowingly exposed to this type of violence and its effects reflect on women's mental health. Clinical Psychologist Şafak Ağaca Kemal gave important information to the participants about preventing dating violence before reaching the level of physical violence.

The Department of Entrepreneurship organized a webinar titled “E-commerce and New Generation Business Models in America Scale” that was conducted by Assist Prof. Begüm Teraman on Thursday, November 19 within the scope of 2020-2021 Academic Year Fall Semester activities. In the event, in which Başak İlhan, a serial entrepreneur and a Digital Strategist and E-commerce Specialist living in America, was the speaker, it was discussed how business models can be designed as innovative and globally 'e-business' and how to scale these initiatives, especially in the American market. At the event where Başak İlhan gave important advice to our entrepreneur candidate students with her entrepreneurial and mentor identity, the prominent factor was the establishment of a balance between idealism and commercial intelligence.

Lecturer Dr. Gökhan Kırbaç's  articles titled "The Use of Blockchain Technology with Smart Contracts for Supply Chain Management and An Overview of Blockchain Technology Platforms" and "Quality Factors and Customer Voice of E-Learning Services: An Overview of E-Learning Services Logistics in terms of E-Learning Users "  were published in Supply Chain Management Journal.

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Banking and Insurance Second Education Program Head Lecturer A. Berrak Köten, at the session titled “Health, Finance and Insurance” of “International Conference on Different Aspects of Health-ICDAH2020” on Friday, November 13, 2020 presented the report titled "  Turkey and European Union given Supports and Measures Taken by the Banking Sector During the Pandemic Period ".

I was born in Istanbul in 1983. After graduating from Bahçelievler High School, I graduated from Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration in 2005. I graduated from Istanbul Kültür University Institute of Social Sciences Management Economics Program in 2008 with a master's degree, which I started the same year. I am continuing my doctorate education at Istanbul University Public Relations and Publicity Department.

How has your participation in the Kültür Family developed? What are the things IKU add into your life?

It actually dates back to 1997, the year of our university's foundation. When our university started its academic life with a core staff, my adventure started with my mother, who was a member of that staff. With my mother, Safiye Çedikçi, who worked as the Head of the Department of Student Affairs for 20 years with great devotion and instilled in me the institutional belonging... 

In 2000, I had the opportunity to get to know my teacher, Mr. Prof Dr. Önder Öztunalı, our Founding Rector. I have always been proud and honoured to be his student. The values it gives me are invaluable. 

When I graduated with a bachelor's degree in 2005, upon the invitation of my teacher, Prof. Dr. Nükhet Güz, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at the time, I transferred to my academic career at my university. 

As of December 2005, with the proposal of my teacher, Mr. Prof Dr. Durmuş Dündar, I continued to work in the Kültür Family as a research assistant at the Vocational School. My teacher Prof. Dr. Durmuş Dündar has a great contribution to my life in every sense. It is very valuable to have completed my 15 years within the Vocational School, worked with many administrations, gained valuable gains and friends. Over the years, I have served as the consultant, chairman, and Deputy Director of Vocational School of many programs. 

Is there any unforgettable memory in your life with Kültür? 

I guess no university student has printed their own diploma. I myself printed my bachelor's degree at my university. This was an unforgettable memory for me. 

The world is going through a difficult process. How did you go through the pandemic process? What has this process changed in your life? 

I think we had a successful pandemic process. Everyone at the university worked devotedly in this sense. For myself, I learned a lot from the distance education process. I tried to make my lessons interesting by applying different teaching methods. I think these are important achievements. 

We have been separated from our working environment and colleagues for a long time. What are your thoughts on the new normal in these days when our campuses are starting to become more active? 

I believe that we can quickly adapt to changing conditions and the happiness of being together again will increase our motivation. I hope that we continue to produce together as Kültür Family in a more liveable and more sustainable environment. Stay healthy...
