Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture brought together the world's famous architects with their students and the architectural environment in the 2020-2021 Fall Semester. The third and last guest of the conference series, which was held on the Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application, was the famous British architect and academician Ian Ritchie, also known as the "Royal Scholar".

Ian Ritchie who spoke at the conference titled "Light is Architect's Dream, Shadow is his Form" held online at 20:00 on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, explained the spaces he designed with inspiration from light with very impressive videos and images. The conference ended with the questions of the participants.

IKU Architecture webinar meetings of world-renowned architects will continue to meet with students and the architectural environment in the 2020-2021 Spring Semester.

The jury of the # iküarchipandemic 21-Day Challenge Competition, organized by the IKU Department of Architecture between November 16 and December 7, on the relationship between architecture and the pandemic, was held on December 12, 2020 by Prof. Dr. Ayhan Usta, Assist. Prof.  Aliye Rahşan Karabetça, Assist. Prof. Mehmet Emre Arslan, Lecturer Pelin Çetken and Res. Assist. Berkay Oskay.

In the evaluation process of the competition in which 180 photographs participated, 50 photographs at the end of the first round, 25 at the end of the second round, 12 at the end of the third round and 6 photographs in the last round were left to the finals.

The six finalist photographs were submitted to open voting between 12.30 hours on Monday, December 14th and 12.30pm on Tuesday, December 15, with the online survey form announced on @ikumimarlikbolumu Instagram account.

As a result of the voting to which 1672 people participated, A finalist 206; B finalist 167; C finalist 212; D finalist 450; E finalist 285; The F finalist received 352 votes.

Istanbul Kültür University Family Business and Entrepreneurship Application and Research Center (AGMER) organized an e-panel titled “E-Commerce in New Normal Order” on Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom Application on Thursday, December 17th between 20.30-22.15.

The panel, which started with the opening speech of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Şen, was moderated by Mentor Group Partner, Dünya Newspaper Columnist and Academician Dr. Hakan Çınar, was held with the participation of Hepsiburada Operations Group President Taner Timirci, E-Commerce Association President Emre Ekmekçi and Management Consultant & author of “ Someone Tell the Truth to the Boss ”book Onur Yüksel.

In the panel where the past, present and tomorrow of e-commerce is discussed; The operation processes of Hepsiburada, the volume of e-commerce in our country and in the world, the number and capacities of users and customers, the advantages of the e-commerce sector and the difficulties in the sector were explained. At the end of the panel, the questions posed by the participants were also answered.

The Department of Entrepreneurship continues its 2020-2021 Academic Year activities without slowing down. Adam Evren Garipoğlu, the board head of WORLD17, attended the webinar titled "Entrepreneurship and Education in Canada" on Thursday, December 10, conducted by Assist. Prof. Begüm Teraman. During the event, while the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Canada was discussed, the issues that entrepreneur candidates who aim to go abroad in the changing and transforming world order especially after COVID-19 were shared. In the event, besides entrepreneurship, educational opportunities in Canada and how to benefit from these opportunities were also discussed.

Zehra Güloğlu, one of the students of IKU Architecture Department, won the third prize in the "INSPIRELI-Awards Project Competition" with the "Tuzla İçmeler Natural Healing and Health Center" project that she designed under the coordination of Assist. Prof. Emre Arslan. We congratulate our student and wish her continued success.

Caricaturist Varol Yaşaroğlu was the first guest of the “Academy of Today and Future’s Kültür of Life- Success Stories Workshop”organized by the Kültür Point. The talk titled “Dream Journey” that was conducted by announcer Hülya Aydın, held on @ikuedu Instagram account on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.  

Varol Yaşaroğlu shared the processes of starting the profession, how he progressed in his journey of dreams, and the stages of the content he produced for both adults and children. Yaşaroğlu who stated that the most important factor is to enjoy the journey and that the important thing is the process, not the result, then shared his motto with the students, "If you turn your job into a game, you will have an endless holiday.”

Yaşaroğlu emphasized that consuming does not lead to happiness and that the main thing is to produce and that they should always be productive. Yaşaroğlu, who advised especially the students who are just starting their internship and business life that talent is very important, but most importantly that they should do their job lovingly, underlined that individuals with high self-motivation can be much more successful.

Çisem Arslantürk, one of the students of Istanbul Kültür University Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN), came first in the "Star Projects Competition 2020" organized by Yıldız Technical University.

The Department of International Trade and Finance organized an e-seminar titled "Fall Seminars of the Department of International Trade and Finance-I: Recent Developments in the Japanese Economy" on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 11:00. Prof Dr. K. Ali Akkemik who participated in the event as a speaker, evaluated the recent Japanese economy and answered the questions of the participants.

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Business Management Program students and their professors came together online for morale and motivation on Saturday, December 12, when the curfew was in progress due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting conducted by Lecturer N. Gözde Bircan and Lecturer Emine Anık; Lecturer Merve Eseoğlu, one of the instructors, also attended as a guest. The meeting, in which students and academicians shared their weekly activities and what they did during the curfew, was a pleasant evening chat with tea and coffee. The event ended with a souvenir photo taken at the end of the conversation.

Travel Writer and Journalist Bahar Akıncı was the guest of the "Sector Meetings" organized within the scope of the "Entrepreneurship" course conducted by Assist. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikiç in the Communication and Design Department. The event was held on Friday, December 11th at 16:00 on CATS with the title "There is 1 Thing I Learn From Life".

Ahmet Furkan Akakuş from the Destek Patent Company was the guest of our university within the scope of the "Entrepreneurship in Interior Architecture" lecture given by Assist.Prof. Arzu Erçetin in the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Sharing information on brand, design and patent issues in the conversation held with the participation of 57 students, Akakuş also answered students' questions on many issues from the application process to the protection of rights.

IKU Vocational School organised an e-seminar titled “New Education Methods in the New Normal” on December 14, Monday. In the event, I which Burak Kılanç General Manager of IELEV Education Institution and Yonca Özgün Manager of Education Technologies of IELEV Education Institutions were the speakers, the subjects such as changes in the education, different perspectives in the education administration and the use of technology in the education were discussed. There were advises given from the speakers to the audience about the 21st-century competencies.

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Public Relations and Publicity Program organized an e-seminar titled "Understanding the Digital for More Effective Marketing Decisions" on Friday, December 11, 2020. In the webinar where EFKG Founder Emre Faks was a speaker, information was given about the relationship between marketing discipline and digitalization, important KPIs used in online marketing and internet advertising (key performance indicators) and programmatic advertising. Addressing issues such as digital games and digital communication, Faks gave advice to our students planning a career in digital marketing and answered the questions.

Assist. Prof. Özge Sever İslamoğlu was the guest of the seminar series this week, which was held within the scope of the "Current Issues in Interior Architecture" course in the Master of Interior Architecture Program. İslamoğlu shared her presentation titled "Design and Flexibility" with the participants.

Six paintings of Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ Eraslan, an academic from the Art and Cultural Management Department, are exhibited in the "New Year" exhibition held at The Art Capsule Art Gallery in Nişantaşı-Istanbul. The exhibition can be visited until December 31, 2020.

The Department of International Trade and Finance organized an e-seminar titled "International Trade and Finance Department Fall Seminars-II: Since the Universe is Full of Life ... Where Are the Aliens?" on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 14:00. Participating in the event as a speaker, Dr. Tevfik Uyar evaluated the information about aliens so far and answered the questions of the participants.

Radio, Television and Cinema Department Head Assist. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz held an online workshop titled "Creative Approaches in Advertising Text Writing" on Wednesday, December 16, upon the invitation of Büyükçekmece District National Education Directorate.

Res. Assist. Pınar Sarp, one of the faculty members of the Department of Business Administration, presented her paper titled “A Research on Isomorphism, Corporate Social Responsibility and Employer Brand” at “the Second International Social Innovation Congress” held by the Yıldız Technical University on Thursday, December 10.

The official opening procedures of the Accounting and Auditing Club, Financial Literacy Club and Marketing Club that was proposed to be started by Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Business Management Program students, have been officially completed. Business Management Program 2nd year student Sedanur Kirlibal was appointed as the head of the Accounting and Auditing Club, Business Management Program 2nd year student Can Ertuğral as the head of the Financial Literacy Club, and Business Management Program 2nd year student Sude Naz Aydın was appointed as the head of the Marketing Club. Lecturer N. Gözde Bircan was appointed as the advisor to the Accounting and Auditing and Financial Literacy Club and Lecturer Emine ANIK as the advisor to the Marketing Club.

A faculty member of the Department of Basic Education, Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Toran was a guest on the “Agenda Child” "Gündem Çocuk" program broadcast on Medyascope TV on Saturday, December 12th. Sharing the results of his research with both parents and preschool teachers during the pandemic period, Assoc. Prof. Toran also explained the problems experienced by parents and teachers during the pandemic process.

A faculty member of the Department of Basic Education, Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Toran participated in the live broadcast of Medyascope TV on Thursday, December 17, and shared his views on the continuous opening and closing of pre-school education institutions.

IKU Vocational School Air Logistics Program Head Lecturer Dr. Gökhan Kırbaç, organized an online conference on December 10-11, 2020 by Avrasya University. He presented his paper titled “THE IMPORTANCE OF LOGISTICS PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: AN OVERVIEW OF THE LOGISTICS PERFORMANCE INDEX (LPI) FOR G8 COUNTRIES AND TURKEY” at the conference titled “INTERNATIONAL ONLINE CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL SCIENCES RESEARCHES (IOCSSR2020)”.

The in-book section titled "DETERMINING THE SUSTAINABLE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE TOURISM REGION" by Assist. Prof. H. Neyir Tekeli, Head of the Civil Air Transport Management Program, was included in the book "HOSPITALITY & TOURISM MANAGERIAL PERPECTIVES & PRACTICES" published by Germany Peter Lang Publishing House.

There will be pilates workshops with instructor Ebru Batıkan on  December 19, 2020, Saturday, on CATS between 14.00-15.00, with the cooperation of the Department of Foreign Languages and Professional Development Unit.

Vocational School (MYO) will organise an event titled “Tea and Coffee Meetings-” in order to lift the students’ spirits up during the pandemic. The event, moderated by lecturer Gözde Bircan and lecturer Emine Anık, will be carried out on December 19, 2020, at 20.00 on CATS.

Organised by Kültür Point, the first guest of workshop series titled “Academy of Today and Future’s Kültür of Life-Strong Communication Workshop” is Doğan Şentürk, Chief Editor of FOX News & Journalist. The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will host F. Dilek Uyar, who is the first Turkish woman photographer to win the world title in the National Geographic Travel Photo of the Year contest in 2017 and won many more awards. Uyar, who will meet with our students at the e-seminar titled “A Road Story”, will talk about the relationship between architecture and photography while telling the road story. The event, in which Vestel Education Expert Samet Aldemir will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, December 25 at 19:00 over CATS.

Can you briefly describe yourself? Who is Assist. Prof. Ender Demir with 2-3 sentences?

I am a strange academic who was born in a small sunny mountain village with a smell of soil, loves nature, loves to teach, believes that globalization and the requirements of the modern age should be followed.

How has your participation in the Kültür Family developed?

I completed my undergraduate education by benefiting from the first three thousand scholarships of our university. The most important factor in my choice of Law School was its strong academic staff. Since the number of faculties with such a strong academic staff is limited, I cannot say that I had a hard time making a choice. After completing my undergraduate education, I started to work as a research assistant in Labor and Social Security Law upon the guidance and approval of our Dean Prof. Dr. Bahri Öztürk, our chair's Department Head Prof. Dr. Turhan Esener, then our Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Ömer Korkmaz and other esteemed teachers. I completed my master's and doctoral thesis studies under the roof of our faculty.

What are the things that İKÜ adds to you?

I completed my 14th year at our university, where I joined as an undergraduate student. All of my professional knowledge and experience occurred under this roof. In other words, İstanbul Kültür University is the name of the institution that created me in terms of career.

Is there an unforgettable memory in the Kültür part of your life?

I have very good memories in my Kültür pack. When I was a senior undergraduate, there was 15 minutes left for the last lesson of Turhan Esener, the teacher of the teachers. On the one hand, we are experiencing the happiness of graduating, and on the other hand, the sadness of leaving the faculty. In our closing lesson, we started thinking about what we can do to express our gratitude and gratitude to our teachers. We decided to buy a cake and make a surprise. I took over the collecting money and buying cake. We invited all our teachers to our class. Towards the end of the lesson, we entered the lecture hall with cake. We have completed our last lesson with burning candles and glowing eyes. In the following years, cutting a cake in the last lesson of our teacher Turhan Esener has become a tradition. We bought a cake. The next year two, and in the following years three, four, five, six and seven respectively, the number of cakes was increasing every year. Finally, there was no place to put a cake on the table.
