The founding head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN), our esteemed professor Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan was commemorated on the 14th anniversary of his passing with a panel titled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship: From Science to Value” held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In the panel moderated by Assist. Prof. Pelin Özfiliz Kılbaş, a faculty member at MOBİGEN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meri Taksi Deveciyan from the Department of International Trade and Finance, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, shared her experiences regarding the entrepreneurship ecosystem and innovation processes with her presentation titled "From Innovative Thinking to Sustainable Success: Entrepreneurship and Innovation". In addition, Assist. Prof. Melis Durası, a faculty member from Istanbul Health and Technology University Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, gave information about science-based entrepreneurship studies and MD NutriAcademy, which she founded, with her presentation titled "New Generation Sustainable Healthy Living Platform".

The event, attended by Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan's family and friends, our Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Ömür Ceylan and faculty members, Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarıer from the Faculty of Engineering, and the academic staff and students of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, provided a platform for panelists and participants to exchange views in an interactive discussion environment on entrepreneurial processes and the transformation of scientific knowledge into social value.

Organized by the Animal Protection and Sustenance Club, the “Interuniversity Workshop on Animal Rights and Campus Animals” was held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. The event featured Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, Attorney Hülya Yalçın, Veterinarian Mirhat Dalyan, Rıdvan Pusat Çekeryürekli, and Ayşe Bilgin Köroğlu as speakers. Key issues and solution proposals regarding campus animals and animal rights were discussed. As part of the workshop, a charity bazaar was organized to support the clinical and nutritional needs of our campus animals.

Organized by the Dean of Students Office of Istanbul Kültür University, an event titled “Not as Innocent as You Think: IBAN Fraud” was held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. The event featured Assist. Prof. Özge Sırma Gezer and Lecturer Dr. Nilüfer Köker as speakers. Methods of fraud carried out via IBAN and their legal consequences were discussed in detail. Students were informed about the legal risks that may arise from money transfers frequently encountered in daily life.

IKU Vocational School organized an event titled "Women's Rights and Social Awareness" on Thursday, March 12, 2026. The event, held in collaboration with the Program of Business Administration, Program of E-Commerce and Marketing, Program of Foreign Trade, and Human Resources Club, featured lawyer Kübra Sezer Demirel as the speaker, who informed participants about women's rights, social equality, and awareness.

In collaboration between the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Department of Industrial Engineering, an “Information Seminar on Project Management, Risk Management, and Change Management” was held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 14:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. Aimed at raising awareness on project and risk management, the seminar featured Assist.  Prof. Zeynep Doğruöz Gergin from the Department of Industrial Engineering as the speaker. During the seminar, valuable insights were shared regarding project management, risk management, and change management.

The Effective Communication Club at Istanbul Kültür University organized an event titled "Brand Stories: Mia Klinika" on Tuesday, March 10, at 11:00.

Hande Kaya, Brand Manager at Mia Klinika, participated as a speaker at the event. Our students had the opportunity to closely follow the stages a brand goes through from the idea phase to its development process; they also gained important insights into entrepreneurship, brand management, and the fundamental dynamics of sustainable growth in the industry.

Captain Pilot Uğur Demiröz, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pilots Foundation, held a talk titled "Reading the Indicators: Making the Right Decisions and Communicating in Times of Crisis and Uncertainty" with students from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising of the Faculty of Art and Design on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. The event, held at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus, provided students with the opportunity to gain critical information about the importance of communication in times of crisis, correct decision-making processes, and team coordination.

The IKU Construction Club organized a field trip to the Halkalı-Kirazlı metro construction site on Friday, March 6, 2026, to observe the construction process of metro structures and their applications in infrastructure projects firsthand.

Organized by the Dean of Students Office - Kültür Point, a “Business English” training session will be held on Monday, March 23, via the CATS platform to support the career planning processes of our students and alumni.

The Department of Economics will be holding a seminar titled "The Art of Economics" on Tuesday, March 24, from 13:00 to 15:00 in the Conference Hall of the Küçükçekmece Campus, at which Prof. Dr. Ercan Eren will be the speaker, and the seminar will evaluate the theoretical changes in economics and discuss the future direction of the field.

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will be organizing a seminar to provide students with knowledge on interior architecture project topics. The event, featuring architect İdil Banu Özcan as the speaker, will take place on Tuesday, March 24, at 13:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with the Awareness Club and the Program of Graphic Design, a talk titled "Graphic Workshops 1: Reproducible Art and Sustainable Printing" will be held to show students a hands-on experience in sustainable engraving. The event, featuring multidisciplinary artist Çiğdem Şenyürek as the speaker, will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 13:00 in classroom 4A01 of the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The "White Coat Ceremony," symbolizing the Health Sciences Faculty students' journey towards becoming healthcare professionals will be held on Tuesday, March 24, at 13:00 in the Akıngüç Auditorium and Arts Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with UZEMER and the Dean of Students Office, a "Python Programming Training" will be organized for students preparing for and interested in the TEKNOFEST competitions. The training, given by Computer Engineer Boran Toktay, will take place on Tuesday, March 24, from 14:00 to 18:00 in the multipurpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The IKU Center for Criminal Law Practice and Research (CEHAMER), in collaboration with the Center for Sustainable Development (SURKAM) and the Faculty of Law, will host an event titled "A Global Deadlock: Why Can’t We Make Progress on Gender Equality?" The event will take place on Wednesday, March 25, at 10:00 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The IKU Intellectual Property Rights Application and Research Center (FİHAMER) will host a conference titled “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Intellectual Property Law: Current Issues and Developments.” The event, featuring Prof. Dr. Azra Arkan Serim from Istanbul University’s Faculty of Law as the speaker, will take place on Wednesday, March 25, at 13:30 in the CEHAMER Twin Hall at the Bahçelievler Campus.

The Program of Tourism and Hotel Management will host an event titled "Vision Meeting on the MICE, Corporate Events, and Festival Sectors in Türkiye" to support students in their career planning processes. The event, featuring TEODER Board of Directors Chairman Umut Kaya as the speaker, will take place on Wednesday, March 25, at 14:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The Faculty of Science and Letters at IKU continues to organize “Coffee is Just an Excuse Meetings” to share research and studies of significance in the fields of Basic Sciences and Social Sciences. The seminar titled “The Construction and Representation of (Ethnic) Male Identity in the Context of War and War Propaganda in the West,” featuring Dr. Defne Demir from the Department of English Language and Literature as the speaker, (Ethnic) Masculine Identity” will take place on Wednesday, March 25, at 15:00 in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall at the Ataköy Campus.

The “Memory of Water: Istanbul’s Historical Waterways” Photography Exhibition, documenting Istanbul’s water civilization, will open to art enthusiasts on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 15:00 at the IKUSAG in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. Organized in collaboration with İSKİ and İFSAK, the exhibition will be hosted by Istanbul Kültür University and will be open to the public until April 24, 2026.

Organized by the Political Science and International Relations Club to provide students with discipline-based foreign language practice, the "Speaking Club" event will take place on Wednesday, March 25, at 16:00 in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

Organized by the Faculty of Law, a study session for the HMGS (Entrance Exam for Legal Professions) in the field of Trade Law will be held on Thursday, March 26, at 14.00 via Microsoft Teams.

In collaboration with UZEMER and the Dean of Students Office, an “LLM and NLP Training” will be organized for students preparing for TEKNOFEST competitions and those interested in the field. The training will be delivered by Computer Engineer Boran Toktay and will take place on Thursday, March 26, between 14.00-18.00 at the multipurpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with the Music Club and DJ Academy, a karaoke event titled “The Mic Is Yours” will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, between 15.00-18.00 at INNSide in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

Organized by the Literature Club, an event titled “Discussing Kuyucaklı Yusuf” will be held to read and critically discuss Kuyucaklı Yusuf by Sabahattin Ali. The event will take place on Thursday, March 26, at 16.00 at the multipurpose hall on the 1st floor of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Family and Social Services, a conference titled “Combating Violence Against Women” will be organized to raise awareness among students. The event will feature Social Worker Nur Banu Şen Sevinç as the speaker and will take place on Friday, March 27, at 10.00 in the B1 Lecture Hall of the Bahçelievler Campus.

Organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, an event titled “After Graduation: What Awaits You in the Industry?” will be held to prepare our students for professional life. The event will feature Electrical-Electronics Engineer & Technical Service Engineer Onur Gökdemir as the speaker and will take place on Friday, March 27, at 13.00 in Classroom 5B – 06-08-10 at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.
