The theater play “And then There Were None,” starring Ediz Hun, the unforgettable actor of Yeşilçam and featuring master actors, met with art lovers on Thursday, December 15, at 19.00, at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center. The play from the pen of the world-famous writer Agatha Christie tells the mysterious murders committed after the invitation of ten people with entirely different personalities who do not know each other to a party to be given on a deserted island. The play, staged with the actors' magnificent performance under the direction of Savaş Özdural, received a standing ovation from the audience. The activities of Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center will continue with the "Eti Children's Theater” on January 26-27, 2022.

IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) held its second exhibition opening of the season with “Archive Exhibitions: Ali Hâdi Bara” at IKU Art Gallery on Wednesday, December 14. Our Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design Prof. Dr. Mehmet Üstünipek made the opening speech of the exhibition, to which Our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, our Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız and our Board of Trustees Advisor Ender Rıza Ekici also attended. The exhibition includes archive documents from the investigative, rational, and experimental artistic point of view of Ali Hâdi Bara, one of the founders of contemporary Turkish sculpture art. The exhibition can be visited at IKÜ Art Gallery until February 22, 2023.

The Design Factory, which was established by Istanbul Kültür University with the financial support of Istanbul Development Agency, completed the 1st group, of Design-Oriented Thinking Training.  At the end of the 1-month training, which was completed on Friday, December 9, 2022, Young Designers were informed on how to envision project ideas, how to come up with them and how to realise them.

A DeepRacer self-driving car competition with Amazon partner SkyLoop  on the subjects of artificial intelligence and machine learning was held at The Design Factory  on Monday, December 12.  The competition, in which 5 teams faced off one another, lasted about 6 hours.

The award ceremony and colloquium of the "MEKAN2022 Interior Architecture Students National Graduation Projects Competition," organized for the ninth time by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design was held at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in our Ataköy Campus, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 14.00.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Faculty of  Health Sciences  Department of Nursing Vice President Assist. Prof. Sevda Türen took part in the “H&T Academy – Nursing and Technician Training Platform” project implemented by the Turkish Society of Cardiology Cardiovascular Nurse and Technician Project Group.  Assist. Prof.  Türen  provided assistance to the project with presenting their presentations titled “Cardiovascular System Anatomy and Physiology – Diagnosis and Physical Examination of the Cardiovascular System” on the platform where theoretical and clinical knowledge and experiences in the field of cardiology were exchanged.

The Department of International Trade and Finance held the "Economics Documentary Screening in Istanbul: A Panel Talk with Director Çiğdem Boz" at the Basın Ekspres Campus Conference Hall on Wednesday, December 14. Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz's documentary about the establishment and aftermath of Istanbul University Faculty of Economics, produced entirely with her own resources, was a triumph with our students.

 A "Team Management and Communication" event was held at the Design Factory office in the Ataköy campus of Istanbul Kültür University, accompanied by Strategic Sales & Management Consultant, Angel Investor and Experience Transmitter Figen Çamlıyurt Atsan.  At the event held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, a discussion was had on the communication between team members being the key element for concluding a task.

Istanbul Kültür University Publishing House (IKU Publishing House) was made available to book lovers at the 39th International Istanbul TUYAP Book Fair, which opened its doors after having been canceled for the last two years due to the pandemic. The books of IKU Publishing House, located in the 2nd hall, booth number 291 at the TÜYAP Book Fair, which was available between 3-11 December 2022, attracted a great deal of attention from the book lovers. Book lovers visiting the stand and salesclerks of IKU Publishing House and especially drawn to the "A Very Short Beginning" series, "AstroInformation", "Unfinished Enlightenment Breakthrough: Village Institutes" and "The History of Great Turkish Literature" chatted about the subjects such as books, publishing, culture and arts etc.

The Creative Industries Club, the student branch of the Design Factory, implemented by Istanbul Kültür University with the financial support of the Istanbul Development Agency, organized the "Sustainability Summit" consisting of five sessions on Tuesday, December 13. At the summit, which was held in the Design Factory office in our Ataköy Campus, social sustainability in the textile world in the axis of the sustainability practices in the business world, internal conversion of energy companies in the sector in the name of sustainability, the future goals of international companies that have become giants in the field of renewable energy and an example of entrepreneurship in the field of sustainability were discussed. Bynetacademy Founding CEO & alumni Bahar Yıldırım, LC Waikiki Sustainability Social Compliance Manager Mustafa Omay, Schneider Electric Sustainability & Environment Manager Ebru Aydeniz, Nordex Inc. Area Service Manager Rahmi Semih Şekerci and DeveciTech Founder Kerem Deveci attended the event as speakers. After the presentations made at the summit, the questions of our students were also answered. Our students, who got acquainted with the ways of applying the concept of sustainability in different sectors, also had the opportunity to network with professionals in this field.

The Department of International Trade and Finance held a seminar titled “EU Green Deal and COP27 Evaluation” at the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in our Ataköy campus on Friday, December 9th. In the event moderated by Assist. Prof. Dilek Ünalan from the Department of International Trade and Finance, environmental issues and decisions made in the COP27 were evaluated.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics held an event titled “Genetics of Cosmos” on Saturday, 10 December 2022, in which Assist. Prof. Sinan Aliş from Istanbul University, our Department of Physics postgraduate student Dilara Kaplanoğlu, and our MOBIGEN student Derya Deniz were the speakers.

At the event, which was attended by the students of Istinye University and Gebze Technical University, other talks about cosmos were held with their high adaptation to space life, the extreme limits of the genetically researched Tardigrades, the newly discovered exoplanets, and their features about life. The event ended after the question-and-answer section.

Istanbul Kültür University Men's Basketball Team, which continues its sporting activities at the Kültür College Sports Hall, started playing the preliminary matches before the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF) 2022-2023 Academic Year "Inter-University Istanbul Provincial Championship Competitions".

On 1 December 2022, the team played its first casual match at Kültür College Sports Hall and with the scores of 87-87 tied with Yıldız Technical University.  Our students, who played against the Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Basketball Team on December 8, 2022, put up a promising fight even though at the end losing the match 89-85.

Continuing its sporting activities, Istanbul Kültür University Football Team played a casual match against Koç University on December 5, before the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) 2022-2023 Academic Year "Interuniversity Istanbul Provincial Championship Competitions".  The football team won the away match with a score of 3-2.

Istanbul Kültür University Men's and Women's Volleyball Teams competed with other teams before the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) 2022-2023 Academic Year "Inter-University Istanbul Provincial Championship Competitions".

Our Women's Volleyball Team, which played against Boğaziçi University Team on 30 November 2022 and the Yıldız Technical University team on 5 December 2022 at Kültür College Sports Hall, concluded both matches having played over four sets with a score of 2-2 draw.

Our Men's Volleyball Team, on the other hand, lost both matches held on the same dates with a score of 3-1, despite putting off a good fight.

The First Official Match Was A Triumph

Having completed its preparations, our Women's Volleyball Team played against ITU in the team’s first official match. Our team, which was triumphant in the very fierce match, having scored 3-2, started off the TUSF Istanbul Regional 1st League competitions with a triumph.

The IKU Handball Team, which was formed by Istanbul Kültür University this year, played against the Yildiz Technical University Team in the casual match before the "Interuniversity Istanbul Provincial Championship Competitions" for the 2022-2023 Academic Year of the Turkish University Sports Federation (TUSF). Our team, who lost the match held at YTU Davutpaşa Campus, put off a good fight despite having played for the first time.

Our Team Played Their First Official Match

Our Handball Men's Team, which played against Yeditepe University Team in the first match of the TUSF Regional 1st League, concluded the first half of the match with a score of 10-10. We congratulate our team, who lost the match 23-18 after the team captain, Hasan Hüseyin Karakoç, suffered a knee injury, for putting up a good fight. Our team will continue playing other matches in the 2022-2023 Spring Semester.

“A Production Line Assignment Problem for a Textile Industry” titled work, prepared together by Naira Abdelsalam, Fardus Mohammoud, Hüseyin Eder, Ahmed Abuyousef, Öncel Kaya and Akif Can Kılıç, the thesis students of the Vice Chairperson of Department of Industrial Engineering Assist. Prof. İlayda Ülkü, was accepted to be published in the Journal of Engineering Sciences and Design.

The article of Assist. Prof. Meri Taksi Deveciyan from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of International Trade and Finance titled "Review of The Works on and Discussion on Minority Entrepreneurship and Social Network Variables" was published in the International Western Black Sea Journal of Social and Human Sciences.

The "Colorful Steps: Sustainable Play" event will be held in cooperation with the Awareness Club and the Vocational School. The event, in which screenwriter & actor Etem Caner Karaüç will be the speaker, will be held on Saturday, December 17th at 9:00 am at the Z-D 4th amphitheater in our Ataköy campus. Within the scope of the event, 1-day training of the "Colorful Steps" project for disabled students will be given by the Changing Steps Association (DADER).

In cooperation with Kültür Point and Effective Campus; "Communication Academy" event will be held to educate the participants about effective communication, effective body language and diction. The event, in which reporter Cem Öğretir will be the speaker, will be held on Sunday, December 18, between 12.00-17.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club, +1 Down and Autism Awareness Club, Effective Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, a panel talk titled "Social Media Expertise and Agency Life" will be held as part of the "Introduction to New Media I" lecture. The event, where Magnet20 Digital Advertising Agency Social Media Manager Elif Saatcı will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, 19 December between 15.00-17.00 at Seminar Hall 2 in our Ataköy campus.

In cooperation with the IKU Vision Club and the Department of Business Administration, a conference titled "Entrepreneurship and E-Commerce" will be held to enable the students to have an idea on the field of entrepreneurship and e-commerce. Group Image Lighting CEO Pelin Grit, Takıtak CEOs Tolgahan Acar and Hakan Acar and E-Export Turkey CEO Mert Tanciğer will be the speakers at the event, which will be held on Tuesday, December 20, between 13.00-16.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

The Program of Fashion Design will hold a panel talk titled "Collection Creation Story" in order to convey the collection preparation processes to the students. The event, where Designer & Trainer Gökhan Yavaş will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, December 20, between 14.00-16.00 at the Fashion Design Workshop in our İncirli campus.

The Department of Educational Sciences will hold a conference titled "Being a Teacher in University Hospitals" in order to raise awareness among students about the activities carried out in hospital schools. The event, in which “Teacher Hold My Hand” Provincial Project Coordinator Melek Okur and Teacher Şahika Cinisli will be the speakers, will be held on Tuesday, December 20, between 14.30-16.00 at Basın Ekspres Campus Conference Hall.

The Department of International Trade and Finance will organize an event titled "Life, Work and Education Opportunities in Canada" in order to encourage students to study abroad by presenting how school-work life is in Canada. The event, in which Canadian College Education Consultant Özlem Nas will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, December 20 at 21:15 on the ZOOM platform.

Molecular Biology and Genetics Club will organize an international event titled "Science-We" where scientific issues in various fields of molecular biology will be discussed. The event, in which Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatma Pir Çakmak from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahzar Adli from Northwestern University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savaş Tay from The University of Chicago will be the speakers, will be held online on Wednesday, December 21, between 10:00 and 14:00.

IKUVENT Club will organize a panel talk titled "The Revolution of Marketing from Past to Present" in order to explain the importance of marketing and digital marketing in the developing world order to the students. The event, where Ahmet Balat Academy Co-Founder Ahmet Balat will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, December 21, between 13.00-15.00, at the Design Factory Office in Ataköy Campus.

The Department of International Relations will organize a panel titled "Foreign Policy in the 100th year of the Republic: Türkiye-Greece."  The event, where Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın and Prof. Dr. Serhat Güvenç from Kadir Has University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal Mert Uzuner from Marmara University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Özsüer from Istanbul University and retired ambassador Hasan Göğüs will be the speakers, will be held on Wednesday, December 21, at 13.30, in the 2nd floor seminar hall in our Ataköy Campus.   

IEEE IKU Club will organize an a panel talk titled "Someone from the Sector" in order to support students' career planning processes. The event, where Dof Robotics Ar-Ge Director Burak Hacıosmanoğlu will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, December 21, between 14.00-17.00 in the first-floor multi-purpose hall in Ataköy Campus.

IKU ELT Club will organize an interview titled "YDS Adventure" in order to inform students about the Foreign Language Proficiency Level Determination Exam (YDS). The event, where Lecturer Oğulcan Sümbüloğlu from Bakırköy branch of DILKO Educational Institutions will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, December 21, between 15.00-16.30 at the Basın Ekspres Campus Z-16 Conference Hall.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club and the New Media and Communication Club, an event titled "Make an Observation and Express It with Your Lines" will be held on Wednesday, December 21, between 16.00-17.30 at the Apple branch on Bağdat Street in order to contribute to the personal development of students.

Within the scope of the “Best Project Awards,” which is traditionally organized by the Department of Architecture, the students, who were selected as the first in the Architectural Design groups of the 2021-2022 Spring Semester, the documents will be presented to held on Thursday, December 22, at 12.30, on the 2nd floor, C corridor, in Ataköy Campus.

In cooperation with the Department of Foreign Languages and the Professional Development Unit, an event titled "PDU Talk" will be held in order to improve communication between colleagues. In the event, where Lecturer Hasan Hüseyin Zeyrek, an academician of the Department of Foreign Languages, will make his presentation titled “How to Use Warmers in an EFL Classroom”, will be held on Thursday, December 22, on the 7th floor 710 numbered hall of Şirinevler Campus. 

Kültür Point will hold a training titled "Presentation Techniques" in order to support the career planning processes of students. The training, which will be given by Seçil Altıntaş, will be held on Thursday, December 22, between 15.00-18.00, in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall of Ataköy campus. The training will be held in English.

Kültür Point will organize a concert to introduce the "Kültür Anadolu Trio" music band to our students. The concert, which will be held with the theme of “Folk Songs from Anatolia,” will be hosted by Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on Thursday, December 22, between 16.00-17.00.

“Movie Days” event will be organized in order to develop the movie culture of the students, by IKU Cinema Club on Thursday, December 22, at 18.00, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

The Department of Foreign Languages Education will organize a conference titled "Art of Foreign Language Teaching" in order to contribute to the career development of students. The event, where English Teachers Özgü Öztürk and Umut Altunbaş will be the speakers, will be held on Friday, December 23, between 11.00-13.00 at Basın Ekspres Campus Z-16 Conference Hall.

Our Award Ceremony, which will be held within the scope of the Scientific and Artistic Support Program (BILSAP) of our university, will be held on Friday, 23 December 2022, at 15.00, at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.
