Lawyer Candidates of the Future Digital World Met at Istanbul Kültür University

“The New Generation Lawyers of the Digital World” conference was held on February 13th 2020, in cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Law and Microsoft. In the event hosted by Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center, more than 900 legal candidate high school students came together.

Conference started with the opening speech of İKÜ Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Dr. Hc. mult. Bahri Öztürk, then continued with the speeches of the founders of Microsoft SAM Partner Güçlü Tuğay, İKÜ Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law Assist. Prof. Elif Altınok Çalışkan, Instructors form the Faculty of Law Assist. Prof. Yasemin Filiz Saygılar Kırıt and Assist. Prof. Nazlı Hilal Satıcı Demir.

Hundreds of high school students from various districts and nearby provinces of Istanbul attended the “New Generation Lawyers of the Digital World” event and got information about how to prepare for the digital world, the place of the legal profession in the digital world, and the ways of performing it, what the personal skills and competencies required in the future.

İKÜ Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Dr. Hc. mult. Bahri Öztürk mention that as İstanbul Kültür University we we have implemented many projects to prepare future lawyers for the digital world. Our professor who said that last year more than 100 teams gained experience in the legal field thanks to "Inter-High-school Fictional Case Competition" that is first organized in Turkey by İstanbul Kültür University, also stated that they will hold the second of the competition this year and the applications have started. This year's theme of "II Inter-High School Fictional Case Competition" whose applications will continue until March 6, 2020, was determined as “Social Media Crimes”. High-schools in Turkey can apply to the competition in which only the 11th and 12th grade students are allowed for participation with the groups of 5. Teams will revive sample cases and make decisions within the scope of “Social Media Crimes” that emerged with the new platforms of the digital world with their role as defendants and plaintiffs.

Our Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Şen Attended İİBF Deans Council Meeting

Our Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Şen attended the “Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS) Deans Council Meeting” organized by the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK) on behalf of our university.

Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU) hosted the “FEAS Board of Deans Meeting” organized first by the UAK Social Sciences Education Council Presidency. At the meeting held between 7-8 February, Dean of İİBF Prof. Dr. Ali Şen represented our university.

MAK Rector at the meeting chaired by Adam Korkmaz, discussed issues of IIBF operating in Turkey.

At the end of the meeting, 3 commissions were established to conduct preliminary studies in different fields, and it was decided to hold a second meeting in which all the İİBF deans will participate.

“Säkularität und normative Kraft der Verfassung (Secularism and Normative Power of the Constitution)” Conference

IKU Criminal Law Practice and Research Center (CEHAMER) held a conference on "Säkularität und normative Kraft der Verfassung (Secularism and Normative Power of the Constitution)", where Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Helmut Goerlich, a faculty member of the Faculty of Law at the University of Leipzig, Germany, spoke on Sunday (February 2nd).

“Erasmus Information Seminar”

IKU Vocational School (MYO) organized the “Erasmus Information Seminar” on Monday, February 10. In the seminar held at our Incirli campus; Achievement plaques were presented by our Public Relations and Promotion Program student Ela Uyan, who was eligible for Erasmus internship, with Foreign Student Program student Gürkan İlçe, who completed his Erasmus internship successfully, by Vocational School Director Assist. Prof. Sinan Kesici and Vocational Erasmus Coordinator Instructor Kübra Mertel.

IKU Vocational School 2019-2020 Academic Year Spring Term External Stakeholder Meeting

Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Vocational School held the “2019-2020 Academic Year Spring Semester External Stakeholder Meeting” at the İncirli campus on Thursday, February 6.

In the meeting held to develop university-sector cooperation; Lecturer Tuğba Çedikçi Fener, Head of Program of Healthcare Institutions Management, gave detailed information to our external stakeholders about studies on quality and our university.

Director of Vocational School Assist. Prof. Sinan Kesici; Underlining the need to develop projects based on university-private sector cooperation in order to support our students' applied training and internships by taking the opinions and suggestions of external stakeholders.

“BilimSenOl Entrepreneurship Summit”

Istanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Information Systems and Technologies Department Software Development and Innovation Manager Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay and Expert Software Developer Fettah Kurtuluş attended the "BilimSenOl Entrepreneurship Summit" organized on Saturday, February 8 in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and BilimSenOl Platform. At the summit hosted by Sultangazi Municipality Şehit Ferdi Yurduseven Youth Center; Fettah Kurtuluş informed students about “Artificial Intelligence and Future Professions” and Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay on “Augmented and Virtual Reality”.

BilimSenOl Platform, consisting of high school and university students; instills science in children by giving chemistry, biology, physics, robotic codings, robotic demonstrations and trainings to primary and secondary school students who know science more in theory. BilimSenOl Platform, which carries out its activities with the goal of “No More Children Who Do Not Like Science”, tries to uncover the scientists of the future by visiting 81 provinces without skipping any village or a city.

Medula Optik Institutional Process at Atasun Optik

The institutional operation, interfaces and applications of the Medula Optical system in Atasun Optik by Atasun Optik, which has a cooperation protocol with IKU Vocational School Opticianry Program was shared with Instructer Emin Aksan within the scope of the course “Package Program Applications in Opticianry”

"Structural System Arrangement Principles in Buildings" Seminar

Within the context of “MIM0803 Çalıştay III” course by Department of Architecture Instructor Tülin Barutçular, a seminar titled "Structural System Arrangement Principles in Buildings" was held on Tuesday, February 11th. In the seminar given by Vice Head of Civil Engineering Department Assist. Prof. Edip Seçkin, students were informed about "2018 Turkey Earthquake Building Regulations" and "Turkey Earthquake Hazard Map". Our Professor shared the topics about the fact that the earthquake in Turkey, the impact of earthquakes on structures, precautions to be taken against earthquakes, and basics for organizing transport systems in building design principles with our students.

“Design Principles of Building Structural System” Seminar

Within the context of “ARC0803 Workshop III” course by Department of Architecture Assist. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, a seminar titled “Design Principles of Building Structural System” was held on Tuesday, February 11th. In the seminar given by Department of Civil Engineering academician Assist. Prof. Gökhan Yazıcı, basic knowledge such as the fact that the earthquake in Turkey and the world, the impact of earthquakes on structures, precautions to be taken against earthquakes, and the principles of structural system arrangement in building design in "2018 Turkey Earthquake Building Regulations" was shared with our students.

Art Management Interviews - Esra Özkan

Digital Arts Curator Esra Özkan was the guest of our university in the "Art Management Interviews" organized by IKU Art Management Department in order to meet the students of our school with the sector representatives from different disciplines in the culture and art sector. İn the event held at Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall Özkan gave information to our students about "New Media Art in the World and Turkey". Özkan conveyed to our students the new media art, its historical development, its relationship with other psychics and what Turkish artists do in this medium.

"Graduation Project Meeting"

Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department organized the “Graduation Project Meeting” at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Thursday, February 6. In the event, which was held with the participation of Turkish and English Program students, the topic of finishing project titled “Encounter-an urban interior experience” was introduced.

Public Relations and Publicity Program and Communication Arts Department Students Listened The Branding Processes From Real Stories

A conversation titled “Understanding and Explaining the Brand” was organized in collaboration with the Public Relations and Publicity Program of the IKU Vocational School and the Communication Arts Department. In the event, where Hem Dem Advertising Agency Founder and Agency President Burşem Ege spoke, our students learned about the development stages of brands and the elements of processes such as being a brand, having a brand, and being a brand. Our students, who listen to the branding and brand strategy processes from real stories, have increased their awareness of the way advertising agencies do business.

Sectoral Collaboration Between Public Relations and Publicity Program and İmgelem Creative Agency

Sectoral collaboration protocol was signed between İKÜ Vocational School Public Relations and Promotion Program and İmgelem Creative Agency, which operates in brand identity and positioning, digital communication, creative content, video production and web design. Within the scope of the signed agreement; In the fields of brand consultancy, advertising and creative original content, our students will be offered internships, seminars and job opportunities.

Digital Media and Marketing Program Added New to Sectoral Collaborations

İKÜ Vocational School Digital Media and Marketing Program has signed a sectoral cooperation with Dilan Baransel Health Communication Consultancy, which produces 360 degree special solutions to the field of health. Dilan Baransel Health Communication Consultancy; Starting from the most basic of communication activities in the field of health, it provides communication studies for all brands that have “health” focus, conducting communication studies, media relations management, creative event studies, crisis management, reputation management and social responsibility campaigns, enabling brands to interact and talk with their target audiences. Within the scope of the collaboration, students of the Digital Media and Marketing program will be provided job and internship opportunities.

Assist. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikic and Ömür Kınay

The article titled "No Reaction in Demirkubuz Cinema: Fate in Demirkubuz", which was written by Assist. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikic and Ömür Kınay, a member of our Communication Design Department academician, was published in the booklet titled Specific Views of Turkish Cinema.

Instructor Oguzcan Akgol

The article of Oğuzcan Akgöl, one of our lecturers in Digital Media and Marketing Program, titled “The World Is Just a Wedding: An Example in the Context of Reality Show in the ‘Zuhal Topal’la Sofrada’ ” was published in Arel Journal of Communication Studies.

Research Assistant Berkay Şatır

One of the member of the Cinema and Television Department Berkay Şatır’s research paper Michael Moore's documentary called Roger & Me is published in the one of the most popular digital cinema magazine called Filmloverss.com.

EVENTS OF THE WEEK

“Architecture Talks”

The 67th guest of the “Architecture Talks” organized by Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture will be Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özdoğan. The event, where Özdoğan will share his knowledge and experience about Göbeklitepe, will be held on Monday, February 18, between 15.00-17.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

“Creating a Good Story on TV”

The Public Relations and Publicity Program will hold an interview titled “Creating a Good Story on TV” to inform students about the industry. The event, where NTV presenter Berfu Güven will be a speaker, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Monday, February 17, between 14.00-15.00.

“Light Pollution: Global Question with Local Solution”

Prof. Dr. Dursun Koçer, one of our faculty members at the Department of Physics at Istanbul Kültür University, will give a conference on Saturday, February 22, titled “Light Pollution: Global Question with Local Solution”. Hosted by Galatasaray High School the conference organized by Istanbul Provincial Education Directorate Istanbul Teacher Academies between 15.00-16.30.

“Alumni Meetings”

The Logistics Program will organize “Alumni Meetings” to support our students' career planning. CBN Logistics Storage and Distribution Inc. The event, where our Marine Operation Officer graduate Recep Burak Yılmaz will be a speaker, will be held on Tuesday, February 18 between 10.00-12.00 in the classroom 3A-02 at İncirli Campus.

“3rd Career Day”

The Department of English Language and Literature will organize the “3rd Career Day” event for our graduates working in different fields to share their professional experiences and stories with our students. The event where Işıl İlkter, Arda Can Coşkun, Dilşah Selanik and Rahman Görede will be speakers will be held at Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall on Wednesday, February 19, between 15.30-18.00.

Culture and Career Orientation at Work

Kültür Point will organize the "Culture and Career Orientation at Work" in order to enable IKU graduates to get a prepared introduction and strengthen their personal brands in a rapidly changing business life with digital and technological transformation. Events in which Consultant&Coach Lecturer Habibe Akşit and Talent Brand Company Founder Meryem Yıldız Adak will be speakers; It will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Monday, February 17, between 12.00-15.00, on February 19, Wednesday and February 20, between 17.00-20.00.

İstanbul Kültür University Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center continues to bring together beautiful events with culture and art lovers. Akıngüç Stage will be hosted by Theater In's play titled “Akciğer”, on Thursday, 20 February between 19.00-21.00.

“Entrepreneurship and Leadership Conference”

IKU Steam Club will organize the “Entrepreneurship and Leadership Conference” to benefit our students' career planning processes. The event, where Kiğılı CEO Hilal Suerdem will be a speaker, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Friday, February 21 between 11.00-13.00.

“Faculty of Architecture Deans Council (MİDEKON) and Advisory Board Meeting”

Istanbul Kültür University will host the “Faculty of Architecture Deans Council (MİDEKON) and Advisory Board Meeting”. The meeting under the direction of MİDEKON President Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu will be held on Friday, February 21 at 13:30 in Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

Atasun Optical Technical Trip

A technical trip will be organized to the headquarters of Atasun Optik, in cooperation with the Opticianry Program and the Opticianry Club. The trip, where our students will be informed about "Marketing Techniques", "Market Segmentation" and "Target Market Selection" by seeing the activities of Atasun Optik, will be held on Saturday, February 15, between 17.00-21.00.

“AIESEC - English Interview Simulation”

IKU Kültür Point will organize the “AIESEC - English Interview Simulation” event in order to reinforce what our students learn in international social responsibility and internship projects and to improve their English level. The event which is brought to our studens via AISEC Company, will take place on February 17 Saturday, 2. Floor multi-purpose hall, between 13.00-16.00.

“New Generation Parenting and Communication with New Generation Children” with Serap Duygulu

IKU Kültür Point will organize a “New Generation Parenting and Communication with New Generation Children” with Serap Duygulu, where different topics will be discussed each week with the Instructor Serap Duygulu. It will be carried out especially for the Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance students; Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall will host the sixth of the training program, which will be open to parents, educators, students and students of all ages and educational levels, on Monday, February 17 from 18.00 to 21.00.

Catching Up-to-Date - “Deception” Seminar

Kültür Point will organize a seminar program titled “Catching Up-to-Date” as part of the 2019-2020 Academic Year. İÇM1002 Basic Design Technical Trip

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will organize a technical trip to Karaköy, Kadıköy and Vefa districts to conduct mental mapping studies within the scope of the “Basic Design” course. The event, where Karaköy Chamber of Architects, Kadıköy Bull Sculpture and Historical Vefa Bozacısı will be visited, will be held on Tuesday, February 18 between 13.00-17.00.

In cooperation with IKU Cultural Point, Career Club, IKUVENT and OnGrowth Consulting, a “Training and Life in Canada Seminar” will be held to inform our students and alumni about higher education, study and investment. The event, where OnGrowth Consulting Company Founding Director İpek Öner will be a speaker, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Wednesday, February 19, between 08.30-18.00.

Field Trip of the “MIM0008 Diploma Project”

The Department of Architecture will organize the Field Trip of the “MIM0008 Diploma Project” to conduct field analyzes of the “Youth Parliament” themed subject to be designed in Dolapdere as part of the “MIM0008 Diploma Project” course. The event, where the Dolapdere-Kuruçeşme site will be visited and the students' questions will be answered, will be held on Wednesday, February 19, between 09.30-15.00.

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences will organize an award ceremony at the Basın Ekspres campus Conference Hall on Wednesday, February 19, between 13.00-15.00, in order to distribute the awards and certificates to the students who ranked in the “Competition is Competing with Yourself” project held on February 19, 2020.

Leadership and Management Club will organize “Self Leadership Training” at Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall on Wednesday, February 19, between 13.00-16.30.

Undoubtedly, it is an important virtue to recognize people around them. So how well do we know the building blocks of the Kültür Family? We devoted this part of our agenda to our colleagues who have worked hard to move Istanbul Kültür University one step further.

Professor Dr. Nazif Ekin Akalan - Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences

I graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department with first place. Then I completed my master's degree at Harvard Medical School and Istanbul University. I completed the doctorate program at Boğaziçi University Biomedical Engineering Bio-Mechanics Department. I worked at Istanbul University between 1996-2010 at the Department of Child Health and Diseases, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Unit. At the same time, I took part in the establishment of Istanbul University Walk Analysis Laboratory in 2003. I still assume the co-advisor of this laboratory, which I have been managing until 2017.

While continuing my studies at Istanbul University, I came to speak to Istanbul Kültür University with the insistence of our General Secretary Ender Rıza Ekici and another professor who I could never break. I had the opportunity to talk to Head of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver and Dear Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Güzel. . They really impressed me. They stated that they will help me to set up the Motion Analysis Center and will open my way to reach my dreams. So I joined Kültür Family

Istanbul Kültür University has increased my values such as patience, determination in purpose, goodwill and good relations.

I have many good memories at IKU that I can't forget. In the process of opening the Motion Analysis Center, there were lots of people from IKU that always helped me, and Head of Directorate of Construction and Technical Affairs Mehmet Yüsesan was one of them. The speech that he made about the fact that life is now, we should live the moment and we should slow down while living the present, was unforgettable for me. I would like to thank Mehmet Yücesan and everyone working at Istanbul Kültür University.

If I explain IKU in short titles, not in one word; IKU is a modern educational institution that is principled, Atatürkist and that cares values and ideas. The greatest value he taught me is that we are all Ataturkist. To make our dreams come true like him, we should be kind and patient, and should never give up.
