“The New Generation Lawyers of the Digital World” conference was held on February 13th 2020, in cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Law and Microsoft. In the event hosted by Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center, more than 900 legal candidate high school students came together. Conference started with the opening speech of İKÜ Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Dr. Hc. mult. Bahri Öztürk, then continued with the speeches of the founders of Microsoft SAM Partner Güçlü Tuğay, İKÜ Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law Assist. Prof. Elif Altınok Çalışkan, Instructors form the Faculty of Law Assist. Prof. Yasemin Filiz Saygılar Kırıt and Assist. Prof. Nazlı Hilal Satıcı Demir. Hundreds of high school students from various districts and nearby provinces of Istanbul attended the “New Generation Lawyers of the Digital World” event and got information about how to prepare for the digital world, the place of the legal profession in the digital world, and the ways of performing it, what the personal skills and competencies required in the future. İKÜ Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Dr. Hc. mult. Bahri Öztürk mention that as İstanbul Kültür University we we have implemented many projects to prepare future lawyers for the digital world. Our professor who said that last year more than 100 teams gained experience in the legal field thanks to "Inter-High-school Fictional Case Competition" that is first organized in Turkey by İstanbul Kültür University, also stated that they will hold the second of the competition this year and the applications have started. This year's theme of "II Inter-High School Fictional Case Competition" whose applications will continue until March 6, 2020, was determined as “Social Media Crimes”. High-schools in Turkey can apply to the competition in which only the 11th and 12th grade students are allowed for participation with the groups of 5. Teams will revive sample cases and make decisions within the scope of “Social Media Crimes” that emerged with the new platforms of the digital world with their role as defendants and plaintiffs.
