Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) commemorated the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk on the 83rd anniversary of his passing.

Our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, and our Rector Prof. Dr. Hanife Öztürk Akkartal, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sinan Alçın, academic-administrative staff and students attended.

The commemoration program started on Wednesday, November 10 at 09:05 with the laying of a wreath, a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem on the Atatürk bust in the front garden of Ataköy campus.

In the ongoing event at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center, Educator & Journalist-Author Neşe Doster gave a conference titled "Aşılmaz Aşınmaz Atatürk". The program ended with Orchestra İKÜ's singing Atatürk's favorite songs.

A trip to Anıtkabir was organized as part of the “10 November Atatürk Commemoration Events” in cooperation with the Atatürkist Thought Club (ADK) and the Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center (ATAMER). Our students commemorated the founder of the Turkish Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, at his grave on the 83rd anniversary of his passing, on Wednesday, November 10, at 09:05.

The introductory seminar of the Program of Germany Career and Workforce, which was initiated in cooperation with the European Career and Workforce Unit of Istanbul Kültür University and the Lower Saxony German Management Academy, was held on Thursday, November 4 at 14.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center. Opening speeches of the seminar held open to vocational school and university graduates from all over Turkey; our Rector Prof. Dr. Hanife Öztürk Akkartal, Lower Saxony German Management Academy Director Herald Becker and Germany Istanbul Consul General BJohannes Regenbrecht.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Department of Art and Cultural Management students came together with art lovers at the Istanbul Art and Antique Fair, which was held between 4-7 November with 25 works they prepared in the lessons. Artist Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ, one of the academicians of the Department of Art and Culture Management and the Director of IKU Art Gallery, stated that they attach great importance to the fair because the students get to the heart of the matter. Assoc. Prof. Uludağ said, "At the same time, we had the pride of being the only university art stand in the fair." said.

Istanbul Art and Antiques Fair, sponsored by Istanbul Kültür University, which enabled our country to reach an important point in the field of culture and art while representing our country on the international platform; It was the meeting point of art lovers at the Istanbul Congress Center between 4-7 November. Visited by 28,500 people, the Istanbul Art and Antique Fair hosted 10 thousand antique objects from 80 antique shops, more than 300 artists from 42 art galleries, and 2 thousand works of art in an area of approximately 15 thousand square meters for 4 days.

Many artists and works met with art lovers at the Istanbul Art and Antique Fair, which was held at the Istanbul Congress Center between 4-7 November. Artist Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ, one of the academicians of the Department of Art and Culture Management and the Director of IKU Art Gallery, presented 15 works with the theme of “Urban Transformation” to art lovers at the Istanbul Art and Antique Fair. Our teacher, who includes the old and new silhouettes of Istanbul in her works, explained that she used different techniques and applications for this exhibition under the title of "Concrete and Metal on Canvas".

Revealing her works in the fair in more than a year, Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ's works, in which canvas and metal, and canvas and concrete texture, attracted great attention.

The "29 October Republic Cup Chess Tournament" was held at the International Ataköy Youth Center on 6-7 November 2021 by the Bakırköy District Representative of the Turkish Chess Federation.

Istanbul Kültür University Student Life, Career and Alumni Counseling Unit (Kültür Point), Bakırköy Youth and Sports District Directorate, Directorate of National Education ans Bakırköy Muncipality supported the tournament.

The students who won the tournament were presented with gifts by Istanbul Kültür University.

In cooperation with the Effective Communication Club and the New Media and Communication Club, the event titled “How Can I Become a Digital Communicator?” was held with Elif Zeynep Filizci as a guest. In the interactive event; Important issues such as the functioning of the agencies, their types, and what to pay attention to in digital communication were discussed. The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design brought Architect Efe Korkut Kurt together with the students as part of the "Basic Design" courses led by Assist. Prof. Derya Adıgüzel Özbek and Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ and the "Basic Design" courses led by Lecturer Meltem Çetinel. Kurt's seminar titled "Thinking Architectural Space Through Installation Art" was held on 3-4 November 2021.

Lecturer Ayşegül Berrak Köten, Head of the Secondary Education Program of Banking and Insurance, presented her paper titled “Determination of the Relationship Between Non-Performing Loans and Profitability in the Turkish Banking System with Panel Regression Analysis” at the 10th Istanbul Finance Congress (IFC-2021) held on November 4, 2021.

“The 1st Intermediary Jury”, which includes studies on the subject of Hybrid Living Spaces in the Metropolis, determined within the scope of “MIM0007 Architectural Design VII” course in the Department of Architecture in the 2021-2022 Fall Semester, conducted by Prof. Dr Ayhan Usta, Assoc. Prof. Zafer Akdemir, Lecturer Dr. M. Orkun Özüer and Res. Assist. Ufuk Küçükyazıcı, will be held at the Chamber of Architects Büyükkent Branch on Monday, November 15th.

The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics will organize an event titled “I Have Diabetes What Should I Eat?” in order to draw attention to the nutritional habits of individuals with diabetes by raising awareness for the "November 14 World Diabetes Day." The event, which will be organized in the scope of the “BES7005 Community Health Internship” course, is on November 15 Monday, between 11.00-14.30 at Ataköy Campus backyard.

A panel titled “Atatürk; Time Space will be organized by the Department of Architecture in order to convey the developments in art and design related to the Republican period to the students. Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall will host the panel where the book titled Time Space Life, co-authored by Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Assist. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, an academician of the Department of Architecture, will be introduced, on Monday, November 15, at 15.00.

IKU IEEE Student Club will organize “Canva Training” to inform students. The training, which will be given by the trainer Gökhan Sevinç, will be held on Monday, November 15 at 15.00 on Google Meet.

IKU IEEE CS Student Club will organize an interview titled "Let Me In: Cyber Security" in order to explain the importance of cyber security and to convey to students which cyber security threats can be encountered in our daily lives. The event, where Principal Advisor Gökay Pekşen will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, November 16 at 13.30 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

There will be a seminar titled “Career Journey with Webhelp” by Kültür Point on November 16, Tuesday at 14.00 at Bakırköy Youth Center.

Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) will hold a conversation with the artists of the exhibition “Dutch Chronicles in Turkey” on Wednesday, November 17 at 13.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. Kemal Orta will be the moderator of the conversation where Dutch artists living in Turkey, Arjen Zwart, Jeroen Paalvast and Koenraad Marinus van Lier will be speakers.

Child Studies Kültür Club will organize “Early Childhood Education in the Museum” in order to support students' career planning processes. The event, where Eda Göknar from Pera Museum and Yeliz Çetindağ from Kültür Suitcase will be speakers, will be held on Wednesday, November 17, between 14.00-17.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

The group exhibition titled "Dutch Chronicles in Turkey" will open on Wednesday, November 17 at 15.00 at the IKU Art Gallery. The works of Arjen Zwart, Jeroen Paalvast and Koenraad Marinus van Lier, who are Dutch artists living in Turkey, come together for the first time in a tripartite exhibition presentation. The exhibition can be visited by art lovers at the IKU Art Gallery within the framework of the pandemic rules until December 15, 2021.

In cooperation with Kültür Noktası and Habitat Association, a training program titled "My Sister in Kültür" will be organized in order to equip women with the knowledge and skills necessary for their participation in economic life and to support them to take an active role in economic development. The third of the program will be held by Trainer Hakan Yılmaz on Wednesday, November 17th at 19.00 via Microsoft Teams with the title "Internet Advertising Training".

Could you briefly describe yourself? Who is Murat Kaya in 2-3 sentences?

I'm Murat Kaya. I am originally from Sinop. I was born in 1985 in Istanbul. I completed my primary and secondary education in Istanbul. I graduated from Bahçeşehir University Department  of Industrial Electronics. I can say that I am a nature and camping lover. When I have the opportunity, I love to be in nature and camping. I am also a motorcycle enthusiast. I turned my interest in computers which is from an early age,  into a profession. I work as a Support Specialist in the Information Systems and Technologies Department.

How did your participation in Kültür Family evolve?

Fatih Toksarı, who worked in the Corporate Information Management Department at the beginning of 2018, said that IKU is looking for personnel. Thinking that it would be great to work in such an institution, I applied for the job. I met with Alper Ozan, Head of Information Systems and Technologies Department at the time, and I was accepted for the job.

What are the things that IKU adds to you?

Working at a university like Kültür brings lifelong learning with it. No matter how much you know, there is always something to learn. By adopting this philosophy, I am constantly learning new things. I work in a very nice team. Our bond of friendship is very strong. Things like solution-oriented approach and management of crisis moments are among the values ​​IKU added to me.
