The European Women Rectors’ Association (EWORA) convened as part of the “EWORA 2026 Conference,” held on June 10, 2026, at the Palace of the Academies in Brussels. Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, also attended the gathering, which marked the 10th anniversary of the association.

The 1st IKU-SPECTRA International Congress on Spectroscopy - ICS 2026 was held on 21-22 May 2026 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center, Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. The congress was organized within the framework of the IKU-SPECTRA Molecular Sciences and Spectroscopy Applied Research Center and the Spectroscopy@IKU ERA Chair Project.

The congress aimed to strengthen scientific interaction in the field of spectroscopy and related fıelds, foster international academic collaborations and provide a dynamic platform for young researchers. Over the course of two days, the program featured plenary lectures, keynote talks, oral presentations and poster sessions, covering current applications of spectroscopy across molecular sciences, chemistry, physics, materials research, environmental studies, atmospheric science and space-related research.

The opening ceremony included addresses by Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, Vice Rector of Istanbul Kültür University and Congress Chair; Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, Rector of Istanbul Kültür University; and Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, Head of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Kültür University.

Senior students of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema successfully presented their projects on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, as part of the courses “Graduation Project I” and “Graduation Project II.” The presentations showcased the knowledge and skills students had acquired throughout their education and represented concrete steps toward their professional careers.

The students presented their projects to their academic advisors: Assoc. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz, Assoc. Prof. Bilgehan Ece Şakrak, Assoc. Prof. Remziye Köse Özelçi, and Assist. Prof. Ayşe Duygu Atasoy Aktaş. Produced across a broad spectrum ranging from screenplays and short films to advertising films and thesis projects, the works were evaluated according to both academic and creative criteria.

Two projects prepared by our Department of Industrial Engineering students have been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program. The project titled “A Structured Decision Support Model for Risk Management in Construction Projects: ISM-MICMAC Approach,” prepared by Arda Özcan, Aysu Akdüzen, Emircan Gündüz, Merve Ulusoy, and Sudenaz İrkilmez under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Zeynep Gergin, and the project titled “A Capabilities Network Design Model for Distribution Center Location Selection and Reduction of Outsourcing for a Cargo Company,” prepared by Öznur Öztanç, Gözde Akgül, Metehan Güneş, Ebru Büyük, and Tutku Solak under the supervision of Assist. Prof. Duygun Fatih Demirel, were deemed worthy of support. We congratulate our students and their supervising faculty members on this significant achievement and wish them continued success in their work.

Our Head of the Department of Common Courses, Assoc. Prof. Selda Salman, delivered a seminar on Monday, June 8, 2026, to a group of tenth-grade students from Kültür College, focusing on the film The Truman Show (Dir. Peter Weir, 1998) from the perspective of political philosophy. Drawing primarily on Theodor Adorno’s concept of the culture industry and Guy Debord’s theory of the society of the spectacle, the seminar explored the influence of media in today’s world, the ways in which individuals voluntarily transform into “Trumans,” and the phenomenon of human objectification. The philosophy seminars for high school students, launched in March 2026 with the aim of strengthening collaboration between Istanbul Kültür University and Kültür College and enhancing students’ philosophical inquiry skills, are planned to continue in the fall semester with new topics and discussions.

The project titled “Determinants of Counterproductive Work Behaviors among Generation Z: The Impact of Job Satisfaction and Organizational Culture”, prepared by Asır Berin Albayrak, a student of the Program of Business Management, under the supervision of Dr. Kübra Öztürk, was entitled to receive support from the TÜBİTAK 2209-A University Students Research Projects Support Program within the scope of the 2025–2026 academic year.

We congratulate our student Asır Berin Albayrak and our advisor Dr. Kübra Öztürk, and wish them continued success in their academic studies.

A book titled “A Snapshot of Health Life in Occupied Istanbul: Surp Pırgiç Armenian Hospital: Management, Organization, and Services,” has been published. The book, titled “Turkish-Armenian Relations on the 110th Anniversary of the Deportation and Resettlement,” was edited by Prof. Dr. Recep Karacakaya and Prof. Dr. Bülent Bakar.
