The live research launch titled "Web 3.0 World Z Report" based on user experience on the "Qankaland" platform, designed as a digital education platform by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU), was held on Wednesday, May 5, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

Developed by our university in 2022, Qankaland which relies on artificial intelligence aims to support high school students in their educational development.  With this app, available for mobile devices, students can create a free account by selecting a user name and password and after creating their account, they can listen to the lectures, and communicate with their teachers and friends on an online platform.

Our university aims to support high school students as they prepare for the university entrance exam with the "Qankaland" app developed in 2022.  The web 3.0-based app, uniting students and teachers in a digital platform, is available to access for free. In the app, students can create their own characters, travel around an island, attend online classes, and communicate with their friends and teachers.  They can ask the questions they cannot solve to the teachers and learn the answers.  Launch of the "Qankaland" project, aiming to support education, was attended by IKU Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, IKU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yükseltepe, IKU Vice President of Department of Information Systems and Technologies who designed the app and IKU Software Development and Innovation Manager Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay,  education content partner and Mathematics Teacher Vural Aksankur from the founding team of Hocalara Geldik, and many other teachers and students.

IKU Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver noted that IKU focuses on popularizing web 3.0-based investments with reliable and noble projects at all levels of education.  Dr.  Akıngüç Günver encouraged young people to be participants in digital processes, not only as consumers but also as individuals who produce, develop and question in the web 3.0 platform. 

In the "Faculty of Engineering Day" event held on Tuesday, 9 May with the participation of our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver and Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, certificates of achievement were presented to our students who represented our university in various fields. In the event, the technology clubs of our university also exhibited their projects.

The Department of International Trade and Finance signed a cooperation protocol with Mentor Customs Brokerage and DIŞYÖNDER in order for our students to gain sectoral experience. Our Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Müge Çetiner, Head of the Department of International Trade and Finance Assoc. Prof. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu and Dr. Hakan Çınar attended the ceremony.

A conference titled "BİLİM-SIZ", organized for the third time by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club, was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. The conference, which was widely participated, was started off with the opening speeches of IKU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Çimen Atak, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Prof. Dr. Seyhan Altun, Club Advisor Assist. Prof Pelin Özparmak Kılbaş and Club President Kerem Yasin Yıldızhan. In the conference held in four sessions three different presentations were given by, Prof. Dr. Ali Osmay Güre from Acıbadem University titled "Molecular Cancer Biology and Immunology", Assist. Prof. Hasan Demirci from Koç University titled "The Bright Future of Structural Biology in Turkey", Prof. Dr. Fikrettin Şahin from Yeditepe University titled “Regenerative Effects of Exosomes”. At the end of each session, participants' questions were answered by the presenters. The conference was concluded with the presentation of Assoc. Prof. Kanay Yarabaş from Sapiens Genetic titled “A Start-up Story: Sapiens”, an entrepreneurship story and information about the steps. At the end of the conference, in which studies on different subjects and interdisciplinary approaches were shared with the participants, the prizes were given to the winners of the books given by Ginko Scinece and of a interview for an internship at Sapiens Genetic and Healthcare Services company.

Istanbul Kültür University Rugby Team qualified for the quarterfinal by winning 5 out of 6 matches, played in the UNILIG group stages held in Ankara. We congratulate our team and wish them success in the final competitions.

Öykü Develioğlu, a student of the Department of IKU Radio, Television and Cinema students, was selected to be a member of the Pre-Selection Jury for the "International Short Film" category of the 3rd International Dystopia Film Festival.  We congratulate our student, who had won the First Prize with their script named "Küllerin Nefesi" in the National Short Film Script Competition held last year, and wish them further success.

The "Future'23" event was organized by the Industrial Engineering Club in order to support the career planning processes of our students by hosting the leaders of the pioneer brands of their sectors at our university. The CEO of Caffe Nero Ahmet Yanıkoğlu, General Manager of Philips Türkiye Sibel Kara Yıldız, General Manager of Dyson Mete Uslukılınç and the CEO of Axa Sigorta Yavuz Ölken attended the event held on Tuesday, May 2, at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

The CEO of Caffe Nero Ahmet Yanıkoğlu was the guest of the first session of the event, which started with the opening speech of our Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe. Yanıkoğlu told his stories of experiences and the process of joining the Caffe Nero family. Sibel Yıldız, General Manager of Philips Türkiye, who took the floor in the second session, talked about how she keeps her work and family life in balance by conveying her inner and business life journeys. Speaking at the third session, General Manager of Dyson Mete Uslukılınç talked about his journey from Ankara to Istanbul and how he founded Dyson Türkiye. Yavuz Ölken, CEO of Axa Sigorta, was the guest of the last session of the event. Talking about his experiences in business life, Ölken made valuable suggestions to the participants.

Redesigned "Organic Chemistry Laboratory" of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics was inaugurated by IKU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. by Gülce Öğrüç Ildız on Tuesday, May 9th after the opening speech made by The Head of IKU Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Prof. Dr. Seyhan Altun. The opening ceremony was attended by IKU Dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Çimen Atak, IKU Secretary General during the organization of the laboratory, Assist. Prof. Ethem Tarhan, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Assist. Prof. Ayşe Fulya Yelkenci, members of the Faculty and of MOBIGEN , as well as Assoc. Dr. Soner Çubuk from Marmara University and our students. After the opening ceremony, a tour of the laboratory was given and a cake was cut in honour of the opening ceremony.

Alptuğ Beteroğlu, one of our 2022 graduates of the Department of Industrial Engineering, advanced to the finals overcoming about a thousand students in the 2023 CAPSIM Foundation Spring Challenge and finishing the competition in 6th place.

Alptuğ Beteoğlu first become known in the “Business Simulation” course given by IKU Acting Rector and a faculty member of the Department of Industrial Engineering Prof. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, later achieving great success in the competition held virtually in 2023 and attended by different participants from 15 countries.

The Second of the "Aviation Summit" organized by IKU Vocational School, was held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. In the event, participated by aviation high schools and other participants, our students had the chance to get to know prominent names in the field of Aviation and conversed with them. At the summit, the development of aviation, employment opportunities and how the speakers advanced their careers were discussed.

An event titled "Social Commerce 101: Ways to Develop E-Commerce Mindset" was held on the CATS platform on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in cooperation with the Effective Communication Club, New Media and Communication Club, Department of New Media and Department of Communication and Communication Arts.  TRUF Communication Founder Cahit Cihat Yıldırım attended the event as the speaker.  Conveying his experiences in the sector and the importance of e-commerce today, Yıldırım also touched upon the tips and e-commerce data that should be known to succeed in e-commerce.  The event ended after the participants' questions were answered.

The 5th issue of "Bilim-Siz" e-journal prepared by the members of the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club has been published.

The Department of International Trade and Finance organized a technical trip to Ekol Logistics Warehouse Orkide Facility on Tuesday, 2 May. Our students, who visited the warehouse where the products of the leading textile companies of the sector are located, visited the warehouse with the participation of the lecturers of the Department of International Trade and Finance. Lecturer. Rüveyda Lokmanhekim, who teaches in the Department of International Trade and Finance, examined the full automation system.

IKU IHA1 Commercial Drone Piloting trainings, approved by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, continue at full speed at Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School with a large participation.

In cooperation with Effective Communication Club, New Media and Communication Club, Department of New Media and Communication and Department of Communication Arts, a seminar titled "A Realistic Look at the Metaverse" was organized on Thursday, 4 May 2023 at Ataköy Campus, 1st floor multipurpose hall. HAVAS Istanbul CEO Dr. Cüneyt Devrim attended the event as a speaker. Conveying information about the Metaverse universe and the course of this universe, Devrim also touched on the definition of “ownership” in the Metaverse universe. The event ended after the participants' questions were answered.

IKU Vocational School Head of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program Lecturer Emin Aksan participated in the Erasmus+ KA171 staff training mobility between 01.05.2023 and 05.05.2023 at the University of Sousse, which is one of our partner universities. Lecturer Aksan, who also took part in the meeting held at the Faculty of Medicine, made observations in the simulation rooms at the faculty.

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club, Effective Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, a panel titled "Journey to the Podcast World" was held on Monday, May 8 on the CATS platform. The event was attended by Assist. Prof. Özge Özkök Şişman, one of our academicians from the Department of New Media and Communication. Our lecturer started the event by talking about the history of podcasts and explained how podcasts can be used to learn and have fun on various topics. During the event, which also touched upon how businesses can connect with their customers through podcasts, topics such as advertising activities conducted via podcasts today, the importance of where the podcast will evolve in the marketing-advertising field for product sales and storytelling were explained to the students.

The Department of International Trade and Finance organized a technical trip to KURTSAN Holding, one of the important companies serving in the agriculture, pharmaceutical and medical sectors of our country, on Tuesday, 25 April. During the trip, foreign trade, accounting, marketing and human resources departments of KURTSAN Holding were introduced to our students. The company was hosted by KURTSAN Holding Co-CEO Saltuk Karayalçın, who teaches at the Department of International Trade and Finance. Within the scope of the visit, the necessary steps were taken for the internship protocol between the company and the Department of International Trade and Finance.

As part of the "IE6404 Production Planning and Control" course, the Department of Industrial Engineering will organize a seminar on Monday, May 15, at 13.00, in which our 2009 graduate & BOSCH Production Manager Orhan Sözer will be the speaker.

In cooperation with the Awareness Club and Vocational School (MYO), a training titled "The Importance of First Aid in an Emergency" will be organized in order to teach the injured to respond quickly, effectively and appropriately by avoiding wrong interventions until professional teams arrive in an emergency. The training, which will be given by our Vocational School academicians, Lecturer. Emin Aksan and Lecturer Canan Bulut will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 13.00 at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

IKU Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center continues to bring together beautiful events with the people of Kültür and art lovers. At the event to be organized by GSUAM, the play "Dear Shameless Death - Dirmit", written by the famous writer Latife Tekin and turned into an outstanding show with the performance of Nezaket Erden, will meet with the audience on Wednesday, May 17 at 19.00 at Akıngüç Stage.

A conversation titled "Overseas Postgraduate Education in Nursing: The Case of the USA" will be organized by the Department of Nursing to inform students about postgraduate education abroad. The event, which will be attended by experts in the field, will be held online on Wednesday, May 17 at 20.30.

A conference titled “If I Knew Then What I Know Now” will be organized by the IKU Geek Club in order to support the career planning processes of the students. Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center will host the event, where experts in their fields will share their experiences as speakers, on Thursday, May 18, between 09.00-17.30.

"IKUTUMER Food Day" event will be held.on Thursday, May 18 at 12.00 in Ataköy Campus 2nd floor seminar hall, in order for our international students studying at Istanbul Kültür University Turkish and Foreign Languages ​​Teaching Application and Research Center (IKUTUMER) to socialize with each other and present the food cultures of their own countries

An interview titled "Fundamentals User Experience and Career Journey" will be held in cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club, the Department of New Media and Communication, and the Effective Communication Club to inform students about user experiences. Vodafone UX Research Leader Ahmet Erşanlı and UX Design Leader Gizem Yetimler will be the speakers at the event, which will be held on the CATS platform on Thursday, May 18 at 20:00.
