Our university's Program of English Preparatory of the School of Foreign Languages was accredited by the Language Education Evaluation and Accreditation Board (DEDAK) for a period of 5 years between May 2025 and May 2030.

DEDAK is recognized by the Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) as the national accreditation agency for English language programs and institutions in Türkiye.

Within the scope of international academic and educational collaborations of the Department of New Media and Communication, Prof. Jan Stasienko from AGH University of Science and Technology was hosted as a guest lecturer, and Dr. Agnieszka Dytman-Stasienko from the University of Lower Silesia was hosted within the scope of the Erasmus+ Teaching Mobility Program.

During the visit, guest academics held meetings with faculty members on possible collaborations in academic and educational fields. Particularly, joint research projects and student exchange programs were discussed during the meetings.

The academics also gave a seminar titled “Powerful or Fragile? People with Disabilities as Characters in Video Games” as part of the visit. The seminar, held at the Design Factory on Wednesday, May 7, focused on motion capture technology and the representation of disabled individuals in video games.

The seminar attracted great attention, especially from the students of the Department of New Media and Communication and the Department of Digital Game Design.

The "Aviation Summit-6," organized by the Vocational School (MYO), brought together the leading names of the sector and our students. Within the scope of the event held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, current developments in the field of aviation, career opportunities, and sectoral experiences were shared with the participants. The summit, which attracted great attention, offered an inspiring and informative platform for our students.

“World DNA Day,” which is celebrated every year on April 25th in honour of the discovery/publication of the double helix structure of DNA in 1953 and the completion of the “Human Genome Project” in 2003, was celebrated again this year on April 30th, 2025, with activities organized by our students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN). Our students celebrated “World DNA Day” by presenting brochures, bookmarks, pictures, badges, and food that they made with their own efforts at our university.

The eighth of the “GameTalks” events organized by the Department of Digital Game Design met with our students on Thursday, May 8, with the participation of Dr. Zeynep Cömert. Dr. Zeynep Cömert made a presentation titled “Educational Games” where she talked about the role of games in education and how they can be used. 

In her speech, Dr. Zeynep Cömert shared her research on K12 students and explained how games contribute to the educational process and how they can increase students’ motivation to learn. She also played a small game with the students as part of the event, giving them the opportunity to directly experience how games can be applied to education. 

Students who participated in the event had the opportunity to discuss the potential of games in education by sharing their experiences in game-based learning. 

Our English Literature Society Club students attended the event titled "First Annual Hacettepe University English Language and Literature Undergrad Conference," hosted by Hacettepe University on April 29, 2025. One of our students, Sude Aksoy, presented her article at the conference with the theme of "Intertextuality."

The book chapters prepared by our faculty members and students of the Department of Industrial Engineering were published in the book titled “Sustainable Green Conversion” printed by Springer Publishing House. The chapters published in the book and their authors are as follows:

In order to increase interaction between members, the IKU Geek Club organized a "Quiz Day" event on Wednesday, May 7 at 13:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. Students had a great time at the event, where questions from various areas were answered and a competitive environment was provided.

One of our lecturers from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Res. Assist. Hasan Hüseyin Çelebi successfully presented his paper titled “Two Stage Stochastic Modeling Approach for Maintenance Products Supply Chain in Rail Transportation Systems” at the “3rd International Thales Congress on Life, Engineering, Architecture and Mathematics” held on April 24-25, 2025

The Geek Club organized a movie viewing event to increase interaction between members. The event was held on Monday, April 28th at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, and the movie "V for Vendetta" was watched.

A trekking event will be organized by Istanbul Kültür University Alumni and Members Association (IKUMED) in the region where the Yeniköy Orço Waterfall in Tekirdağ Uçmakdere is located. You can contact Cemal Turan to participate in the event, which will take place on Saturday, May 10.

The School of Foreign Languages will organize a conference titled "Quality in Language Education: Teaching and Professional Growth" to support the improvement of quality in language education. The conference, which will be held with the participation of experts in their fields, will be hosted by the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus on Saturday, May 10, between 09:00–16:30.

The Program of Air Logistics, the Program of Foreign Trade, and the Financial Literacy Club will jointly organize a talk titled "DGS and International Trade: Guide Your Career" to provide students with career opportunities and future perspectives. The event, where our academicians from the Department of International Trade and Finance will be speakers, will be held on Monday, May 12 at 11:00 in the 1A-01 amphitheatre in the Incirli building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Program of Tourism and Hotel Management will organize a talk titled "The Future of Tourism" to inform students about sustainable tourism, tourism and employment, income management, and luxury tourism. The event, where Hakan Arslan, Okan Karadağ, Recep Özdemir, Ayşegül Akyüz, and Özge Şen Özgüven from the Marriott Hotel Group will be speakers, will take place on Monday, May 12 at 11:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema and LÖSEV, a seminar titled “LÖSEV FAYDA Project” will be organized to improve students' awareness of social responsibility, spread the culture of volunteerism and increase awareness about cancer. The event, where Burkay Avcı from LÖSEV will be a speaker, will be held on Monday, May 12, at 13:00 in classroom 4C 15-17 in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students' Office and the English Language Teaching Club, a “Speaking Club” event will be organized to give students who want to improve their English-speaking skills the opportunity to practice the language with instructors. The event will be held on Monday, May 12, between 17.00-19.00 at the multi-purpose conference hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The premiere of the play “Bruno,” based on the life and ideas of Giordano Bruno, will be held by the IKU Theater Club on Monday, May 12, at 19.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

The Department of Nursing will organize an event titled “New Horizons in Nursing: Hands Touching the World” to celebrate the ‘’May 12-18 Nursing Week‘’ and hold the Illumination Ceremony. The event, where Dr. Esra Karagöz from Dr. Siyami Ersek Chest and Cardiovascular Diseases Training and Research Hospital will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 13, at 10:00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building.

The Architecture Club will organize a “Spaghetti Bridge Building Competition” on Tuesday, May 13, at 13.00 at INNSIDE on the B1 floor of the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building to give students the opportunity to practice bridge design and structural behavior.

A conference titled “The Impact of NFT Technology on Intellectual Property Law” will be held in cooperation with the Intellectual Rights Application and Research Center (FİHAMER) and the Faculty of Law. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Onur Sarı from Kırklareli University Faculty of Law will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 14.30 at the CEHAMER Hall on the Bahçelievler campus.

Istanbul Kültür University Department of Psychology will bring our students together with the experts of Sone Psychology, one of its external stakeholders. The seminar to be given by Clinical Psychologist Gülbin Kaygusuz from Sone Psychology on “Trauma and EMDR” will be held on Tuesday, May 13 between 18.00-19.30 on the CATS platform.

IKU Turkish Classical Music (THM) Choir will organize a concert themed “Spring” on Tuesday, May 13 at 20.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The Program of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology will organize a technical trip to Öztiryakiler company in Ergene-Tekirdağ on Wednesday, May 14.

Dean of Students Kültür Point will organize a “Red Crescent Blood Donation” event on Wednesday, May 14, between 10.00-18.30 at the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building B1 floor stand area to raise awareness among students, staff and academicians about blood donation and to support the Red Crescent.

Istanbul Kültür University Art Gallery (IKUSAG) will host the exhibition “Cultural Memory of Sustainable Cities” organized in cooperation with the Sustainable Development Center (IKU SÜRKAM) and Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM).

The exhibition, consisting of photographs of Türkiye's cultural heritage, which are included in UNESCO's World Heritage List, Intangible Cultural Heritage List and Creative Cities Lists, aims to provide visitors with a perspective from Türkiye's cultural memory while serving the purpose of Sustainable Cities and Communities.

The exhibition, opening on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 15.00, will be open to visitors until May 28, 2025, at IKUSAG in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The finalist films and event program of the “SineKültür Interuniversity Short Film Festival," organized for the sixth time this year by the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, have been announced. The festival, in which a total of 13 films in the documentary and fiction film categories competed in the finals after the pre-jury evaluation, will be held between May 14-16, 2025, at the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

The festival program will start with the “Special Effects and Prosthetic Makeup Workshop with Artist Hazal Tanrıverdi” to be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 13.00 on the 1st floor multi-purpose hall.

The finalist films will be screened on Thursday, May 15, between 10.00-13.50 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. Immediately after the screenings, “The Last Erkan Can Short Film” will be screened at 14.00 and a conversation with the film's director Utku Bildirgen will take place.

The festival will end with the award ceremony to be held on Friday, May 16 at 14.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. At the ceremony, the award-winning films will be announced in line with the evaluations of the jury members.

IKU Vocational School will organize an interview titled “Those Who Shape Aviation: Career Talk with Çelebi Air Service General Manager” to support students' career planning processes. The event, where Çelebi Air Service General Manager Osman Yılmaz will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 13.00 at the 1A-01 lecture hall in the Bakırköy campus İncirli building.

The Faculty of Science and Letters will hold the “Faculty of Science and Letters Student Achievement Awards Ceremony” on Wednesday, May 14 at 13:00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building. At the event, certificates will be presented to students who have achieved success in academic studies, student competitions, sports, social, cultural, artistic, scientific and technological activities.

The Department of International Trade and Finance will organize a “Cupcake Coffee Day” event at the Küçükçekmece campus on Wednesday, May 14, at 14:00 to strengthen the bond between students and academics.

In cooperation with the Department of Foreign Languages Education and IKU ELT Club, a conference titled “Philosophy in Teaching English to Young Learners” will be organized to support critical thinking, questioning and meaning-making skills in foreign language teaching through philosophical approaches. The event, where Lecturer Nur Erdem from Trakya University will be a guest speaker, will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 14.00 at the Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall. 

The Department of Political Science and International Relations will organize an "Alumni Day" event to enable our graduates to share their experiences with our students. The event, where our graduates Abdüsselam Duman (Garanti BBVA, Treasury Officer), Can Berk Atasoy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Police Officer), and Ece Yazıcı (Kodland, Social Media Marketing Manager) will be speakers, will be held on Wednesday, May 14, at 19:00 on the CATS platform.

IKU Dance Club will organize the “10th IKU Dance Festival” in order to increase socail awareness and solidarity by bringing young people together through art. The proceeds of the festival, which will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 19.00 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus, will be donated to Mor Çatı Women’s Shelter Foundation and UCIM. 

The Dean of Students Office Kültür Point will organize the “Interview Simulation with NTT Data” event to support students’ career planning processes. The interview simulation, which will be conducted by Beren Gündüz Zeybek, Senior Human Resources Specialist at NTT Data, will be held online on Thursday, May 15 between 09.00-16.00. 

The Department of International Trade and Finance will organize a conference titled “Between Giants in Global Trade: Tariffs, the US and China” to discuss the new tariffs implemented between the US and China. The event, where Dr. Hakan Çınar (President of Dışyönder), Dr. Şahin Yaman (Former WTO Negotiator) and Tamer Dinçşahin (General Manager of Mezon Lojistik A.Ş. & Vice President of Dışyönder) will be the speakers, will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 13.00 at the Conference Hall of the Küçükçekmece Campus.

The Philosophy Club will organize a talk titled “A Radical Solution for Environmental Problems: Ecofeminism” to discuss solutions to environmental problems from the perspective of ecofeminism and to inform students about these issues. The event, where Prof. Dr. Tuğrul Özkaracalar from Kadir Has University will be the guest speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 15 at 15.00 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus. 

A concert themed "90s Turkish Pop" will be organized by Orchestra IKU on Thursday, May 15 at 19:00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Program of Banking and Insurance will organize an interview titled “Agency/Brokerage Career Journey” in order to provide the students who see their future in this sector with an overview of the insurance sector and information about agency and brokerage processes. The event, which will be attended by experts in the field as speakers, will be held on Friday, May 16 at 13.00 at the 1A01 lecture hall in the Incirli building, Bakırköy Campus.
