Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Department of Nutrition and Dietetics organized the "Nutrition Days in Culture-III Life Cycle Nutrition: Metabolic Syndrome and Probiotics Symposium" on 28-29 February 2020. The symposium, which was held for the third time this year, was hosted by the Akıngüç Auditorium and the Arts Center in the Ataköy campus.

 Speaking at the symposium, our Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Prof. Dr. Gürhan Raif Çiftçioğlu, stated that the immune system should be kept strong in order not to suffer from an outbreak of coronavirus infecting the world.

A cooperation agreement was signed between Istanbul Kültür University and Yedikule Anatolian High School in education. According to the protocol signed by the Rector of Istanbul Kültür University Prof. Dr. Erhan Güzel and Namık Kemal Yurttaş, Yedikule Anatolian High School Manager, the Communication Design Department academic and administrative staff will provide Yedikule Anatolian High School students with film production and management issues and will provide cinema material support to produce their own films. Within the scope of the protocol, our university will host the "High School Students Short Film Competition", which will be held for the eighth time this year.

Turkey University Sports Federation (TÜSF) organized by the "University Tennis Championship 2 League Turkey Competition" in representing our university;

Our women's tennis team consisting of Gizem Erdurak (Civil Engineering), Hande Ataman (Communication Design), Sena Club (Faculty of Architecture), Seray Topçu (Psychology) and Tutku Uysal (Faculty of Law) came first.

Our men's tennis team consisting of Ahmad Daoud Mahnoud Abu Hussein (Industrial Engineering), Uğur Temel Eren (Computer Engineering), Bahadır İhsan Uyar (Faculty of Law), Ömer Dalyancı (Faculty of Law), Talat Şutova (Faculty of Law) is the third.

Buket Atila, one of our students in the Department of Architecture, came first in the "Smart Cities" category of the poster design competition titled "Livable Cities" organized by the Netherlands Consulate General of Istanbul and BASE.

Competition open to all 3rd and 4th year students studying in the Faculty of Graphic Design, Visual Communication Design, Architecture and Fine Arts organized under the theme of "Livable Cities". It is expected from the candidates to choose one of the topics of “A Smart and Green City (mobility, environment)”, “A Durable City (water resources, adaptable to climate changes, sports) ” and  “An Open and Creative City (cultural diversity, inclusion, art, creative industries)”, and present the designs they prepared.

Our student Buket Atila won the first prize in the “Smart Cities” category with her design.

Department of Architecture, within the scope of 8 March International Women’s Days, hosted Melkan Gürsel, one of the famous female architects and also one of the founding partners of Tabanlıoğlu Architects, at our university. In the event held on Wednesday March 4, Melkan Gürsel who gave the conference titled "68th Architecture Talks - Reference in Architecture ” explained her professional experiences to our students. After talking about the projects she produced, Gürsel answered the questions of the students.

The Department of English language and literature held a “3rd Career Day” event on Wednesday, February 19 to help graduates working in different fields share their professional experiences and stories with our students.

The event, where our alumni Işıl İlkter, Arda Can Coşkun, Dilşah Selanik and Seda Yılmaz were the speakers, were held at the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall. Speaking at the event, our 2015 graduate Seda Fikriye Yılmaz said, “We shared our experiences both during and after the education, where graduates from different years gathered. Career Day Event was a very useful and fun event for both students and graduates who are currently studying in the Department of English Language and Literature. I believe that we all have different and challenging processes, but it is very useful to share the processes we find ourselves by turning to the areas we love with the knowledge and accumulation that the department has added to us and it will continue to be useful as the activity continues. I would like to thank our professors who provided us with the necessary platform and share our voice to share our experiences. "

Assist. Prof. Nagihan Çakar Bikic, one of the academicians of the Department of Communication Design, was the editor of the book titled “Making Film: Fiction, Experimental, Documentary, Animation”, where 27 successful directors describe their film processes. The book, which was published by Doruk Publishing House, was created from the works of the directors who explained the production, pre-production and post-production processes of their films.

Business Management Program Instructor Burak Öçlü was invited by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences between 17-22 February 2020, with the participation of the world's forensic science experts, police agencies and secret services, primarily the FBI and the CIA. At the 72nd congress called "AAFS 2020" in California-USA, he made a presentation in English (oral) titled “Attitudes of Citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey in Permits Requested by Mobile Apps”.

In cooperation with the Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD) and the Gender Equality Club, an interview titled “Solidarity with Women Exposed to Violence: Mor Çatı (The Purple Roof Experience)” will be organized in order to inform the students about the functions and responsibilities of the Mor Çatı (Purple Roof) Association, which operates against violence against women. The event, where Mor Çatı (Purple Roof) Volunteer Leyla Soydan will be a speaker, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Thursday, March 12, between 12.00-13.00.

Steam Club will organize the "World Women's Day Conference", where Coach & Trainer Zühal Yiğit from Sola Group will be a speaker within the scope of "8 March International Women's Day". The event, where Yiğit will give a lecture titled “Glass Ceiling Syndrome That Women Live on Career Path” for the Foreign Language Department lecturers and students of the English Preparatory Class, will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 14:00 to 16:00 in the Şirinevler campus, C Block B1 Seminar Hall.

IKU Awareness Club and Kültür Point will organize the “Right Communication Seminar with the Disabled” with the aim of teaching effective and accurate communication with individuals with special needs. Ayşegül Özgün, Ertan Yardımcı, Resul Koç ve Ayşenur Yağcı from Turkey Foundation for the Blind will be speakers at the event which will be held on Tuesday, March 10 multipurpose hall 1st floor between 14.00-16.00 hours.

Istanbul Kültür University Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center continues to bring together beautiful events with Kültür's members and art lovers. Gaye Su Akyol concert that will be organized within the 2019-2020 Art Year will be held in Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center on Thursday March 12 between 19:00-21:00.

The Fashion Design Program will organize “Career Interviews” to support students' career planning. The event, where Bisse Chairman Onur Kefeli will be a speaker, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Thursday, March 12, between 10.00-11.00..

In collaboration with the Visual Arts Club and the Fine Arts Application and Research Center, "Color Workshop" will be organized in order to enable the students to paint on colored and experimental canvas by experiencing different technical paints. The event, which Rich Paint Company officials will attend, will take place on Ataköy Campus on Monday, March 9, between 10.00-15.00 on the 1st floor.

In collaboration with the Atatürkist Thought Club (ADK) and the Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center (ATAMER), the "The Acceptance of the National Anthem and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Memorial Day" to commemorate the poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy will be held. The event, where Editor & İstinye University Assist. Prof. Ali Suat Ürgüplü, from Yapı Kredi Publications, will be a speaker, will be held on Thursday, March 12, between 14.00-15.00 in the hall numbered C Block-B1.

The Turkish Language and Literature Department will organize a panel titled “Our National Anthem and Mehmet Akif Ersoy” to commemorate the 99th anniversary of our National Anthem written by Mehmet Akif Ersoy. The event, where our faculty members of the Turkish Language and Literature Department, Prof. Dr. Yakup Çelik and İsa Kocakaplan, will be speakers, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Wednesday, 11 March between 11.00-13.00.

IKU ELT Club will organize a conference titled “In-Class Studies in English Language Teaching” in order to share teachers who are experienced in the field of English Language Teaching with their students. Prof. Dr. Birsen Tütüniş, Lecturer Nur Cebeci, English Teacher Fidan Solmaz, Buket Şahin and Elif Muemin Nuraydın will be speakers at the event which will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Monday, March 9, between 09.00-17.00.

The Psychology Club will organize a conference titled “Victim - Aggressive Psychology and the Psychological Dimension of Violence” to explain the relationship and dimensions between the victim and the aggressor. Psychiatrist & Specialist Dr. Nedim Havle from Istanbul Bahçelievler State Hospital will be a speaker, will be held on Friday, March 13 from 10.00 to 12.00 in the 4th floor multi-purpose hall.

IKU Culture Point, will organize the “Addiction Workshop” to find answers to questions such as; “What is Addiction?”, “How should we communicate with addicted families?” and "What path should I follow with Dependent?". The event, where expert psychologist Büşra Girgin and Psychological Counselor Hande Aksoy will be speakers, will be held at Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall on Tuesday, March 10th between 13.00-15.00.

A panel titled “Hormones, Emotions and Women” will be organized in cooperation with the Women and Social Research Unit (İKÜ-KAD) and the Gender Equality Club to address the psychological feelings of women who have experienced violence and the factors affecting it. The event, where Bayer Sales Manager Berkin Gökbudak, Assoc. Prof. Taner Usta and Journalist Özlem Yurtçu will be speakers, will be held at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Tuesday, March 10th between 13.00-14.00.

As a third child of a family with five girls, I realized my dream of becoming a nurse that started in middle school years in 1986 by entering Istanbul University Florence Nightingale School of Nursing.I graduated in 1990 and the same year I started working as an operating room nurse at Istanbul University Istanbul Medical Faculty. I loved the nursing profession very much and wanted to specialize in the field of surgical nursing to improve myself. That is why I did a master's and doctorate in surgical nursing. I started my academic life in 1997 at Istanbul University Şişli Health Services Vocational School. Then I worked as an associate professor at Istanbul University Faculty of Health Sciences and Health Sciences University Nursing Department. In 2010, I attended the training program for a short time at the University of Debrecen Medical and Health Science Center in Hungary. I have been practicing this profession for thirty years. I have book chapters related to nursing and national and international publications, memberships of professional associations. I am married and have two sons.
