Istanbul Kültür University has become a signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), an initiative established by UN Women and the UN Global Compact. 

The Women’s Empowerment Principles consist of seven core principles designed to promote gender equality, empower women in education, employment, and decision-making processes, and guide institutions in developing policies and practices in this direction. These principles encourage organizations to adopt equality, inclusivity, and sustainability within their corporate governance frameworks. 

Through its participation in the WEPs, Istanbul Kültür University commits to integrating gender equality into its institutional policies and practices, strengthening egalitarian approaches in academic and administrative processes, and pursuing its efforts in this field within a systematic framework. 

This participation contributes to IKU’s ongoing work in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and stands as a significant indicator of the University’s vision to be a socially responsible, equitable, and inclusive institution.

As part of its continued commitment to quality in education, academic competence, and sustainable development, four programs of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School have been accredited by the Vocational Education Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MEDEK). 

Accreditation certificates for the Programs of Computer Programming, Flight Operations Management, Public Relations and Promotion, and Banking and Insurance, whose accreditation processes were successfully completed, were presented by Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

The “2026 First Aid Refresher Training” was organized by the Department of Nursing on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the First Aid Training Center of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The "2026 Basic First Aid Training" was held at the Faculty of Health Sciences First Aid Training Center on January 20-21, 2026, by the Nursing Department of Istanbul Kültür University, with the aim of increasing public health awareness and improving vital intervention skills. During the two-day intensive training program, participants received both theoretical and practical instruction on life-saving interventions to be performed in emergency situations until professional teams arrive.

The IKU Underwater Society will organize the "İzmit - Kartepe Kuzu Yayla Snow Walk" event on Saturday, February 7, to bring its members together.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science will organize a conference titled "Mathematical Modeling and Dynamic Analysis of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia" to share information about mathematical modeling, dynamic analysis, and treatment strategies related to Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. The event, featuring Ph.D. Lecturer Professor Lorand Gabriel Parajdi as the speaker, will take place on Monday, February 9, at 10:30 in the multipurpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

Department of Public Relations and Advertising will organize a training session titled "Measurement and Evaluation in Adult Education - 1" to inform its faculty members about measurement and evaluation, as part of its "Train the Trainer" training programs. The training, given by İKÜSEM Director Lecturer Zafer Erkoç, will be held on Monday, February 9, at 13:00 in the STF meeting room on the 1st floor of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The IKU Awards 2025 and ATESIS'25 – Academic Incentive Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 14:00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. Full-time academic and administrative staff at our university and our departments will be honored at the ceremony for their outstanding achievements in scientific research, education and training, quality improvement, international cooperation, public-university-industry cooperation, graduate thesis work, and contributions in their fields of service.

The Department of Nursing will organize an event titled "Workplace Accidents and Safety Measures in Healthcare Services" to increase students' theoretical and practical knowledge about injuries caused by sharp instruments. The event, featuring Dr. Pakize Akgün, a nurse from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, will be held on Wednesday, February 11, at 10:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences will hold an event to commemorate those who lost their lives in the earthquakes that affected 11 provinces on February 6, 2023, described as "the disaster of the century." The event, featuring our Faculty of Education Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Meryem Demir Güdül as the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, February 11, at 13:00 in classroom B-502 on the Küçükçekmece Campus.

By MOBIGEN, to discuss the contribution of TP53-mediated metabolic dysfunction in the pathophysiology of CTBP1's role in neuronal metabolic homeostasis and synaptic resilience against metabolic stress, as well as the CTBP1R331W (HADDTS) mutation. The event, featuring Dr. Jan Yağız Akdaş from the Technical University of Munich as the speaker, will take place on Wednesday, February 11, at 15:00 in the Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan Seminar Hall.

Istanbul Kültür University Art Gallery (İKÜSAG) will host a retrospective exhibition titled “All Points at the End, Emptiness at Infinity” in memory of the painter Ayla Yakıcı, whom we lost in recent years. Expressing continuity rather than mere remembrance, the exhibition “All Points at the End, Emptiness at Infinity” will open on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 15.00 at the İKÜ Art Gallery in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. The exhibition will be open to visitors until March 13, 2026.

The first workshop in the "Corporate Sustainability and Industry Transformation Meetings" series, organized in collaboration between Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Sustainable Development Center (SÜRKAM) and the Sustainable Education Development and Excellence Association (SEGM), in partnership with the Plastics Industry Federation (PLASFED), will be held on Thursday, February 12, at 12:30 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

Program of Public Relations and Publicity will organize a talk titled "PR 4.0: Reputation Management in the Digital World" to discuss how brands use public relations tools in the context of evolving communication technologies and to inform students about the elements shaping reputation management. The event, featuring Hatice Kumalar, President of Brandİstanbul PR Agency, will take place on Thursday, February 12, at 14.00 in classroom 1A-01 in the İncirli building on the Bakırköy Campus.

IKU Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM) will present the theatre play "I Chose This Sparkling Dream" to art lovers. The play will be staged on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 19.30 in the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.
