Dear members of our academic and administrative staff, who voluntarily and actively participate in the exciting working process in the "Innovation Group", held their first meeting on Friday, October 22, 2021.

In line with our mission (to provide a qualified education that nurtures the talents that will shape the future and to increase scientific, artistic and cultural activities) and vision (to be a university with national and international reputation in teaching, scientific research and community service) in the Strategic Plan of Istanbul Kültür University, the "Innovation Group" was formed in October with the voluntary participation of our academic and administrative staff.

The Innovation Group focuses on issues that have been influential in the past period, such as global climate change and green economy, sustainability, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, 3D technologies, data mining, fintech, cryptocurrencies, bigtech, martech, biotech, big data, internet of everything, society 5.0 .

In the first meeting, which started with the opening speech of Istanbul Kültür University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Kerim Sinan Alçın, our esteemed members of our academic and administrative staff shared their various opinions and suggestions for the Innovation Group. Innovation Group; decided to continue its work by dividing into sub-working groups such as environment and sustainability, digitalization, cultural diversity and internationalization.

The play "Plastik Aşklar" staged by master theater actors Oya Başar and Ebru Kural met with the Kültür.

Istanbul Kültür University Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center opened the new season with the play Plastik Aşklar, staged by Oya Başar and Ebru Kural, on 2 November at 19.00. In the play, where master theater actors Oya Başar and Ebru Kural shared the stage, theatergoers had a night of laughter. Başar and Kural were presented with flowers for their successful performance at the end of the game and the pleasant night they gave to the people of Kültür.

Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Toran, one of the faculty members of the Faculty of Education, Department of Basic Education, contributed as an expert to the "Education Monitoring Report 2021: Students and Access to Education" report prepared by Initiative of Education Reform, of which our university is one of the sponsors. Asst. Prof. Nazan Çağlar Director of Istanbul Kültür University Family Businesses and Entrepreneurship Application and Research Center (AGMER), and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Ali Şen, visited Tekin Urhan, Chairperson of the Board of the Turkish Family Business Association (TAIDER).

During the visit, which was held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, the issues of updating the previously signed protocol between Istanbul Kültür University and TAIDER were discussed, as well as existing collaborations.

The joint workshop, which is a part of the research project titled “Space in Pandemic: The Use of Indoor and Outdoor Space during the Lockdown in Pandemic” organized by FMV Işık University and SPACE Studies of Planning and Architecture, was held online on Tuesday, October 26, 2021.

Hosted by FMV Işık University, the workshop, in which T.R. Istanbul Kültür University and Beykent University Faculty of Architecture students participated and shared their experiences during the pandemic process, presented important developments in which joint studies were produced and discussed through online applications.

Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Radio and and TV Technology students hosted A Spor TV Reporter Sercan Dikme at 5B-02 RTV Studio on Thursday, October 28, 2021. Sercan Dikme, who is also a graduate of the Radio and TV Technology Program, in the event titled "Being a Sports Announcer in Turkey"; He informed our students about what needs to be done to be a good sports reporter, the importance of communication in the sector, and up-to-date information about sports channels. Dikme also answered questions from our students.

IKU Vocational School Program of Radio and TV Technology and Program of E-Commerce and Marketing students came together during the shooting of the TV program titled “A Bunch of Kültür People”. Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Radio and TV Technology organized a trip to Tolan Films on Monday, November 1 to provide students with the opportunity to examine the sector on site. The set environment was created by showing equipment to our students, who had the opportunity to see how clips, TV series and similar shootings would be, by Tolan Films officials, who produced important clips and commercials such as Aleyna Tilki, Vestel and Vodafone.

The Department of Architecture invited Dr. Eray Çaylı, one of the academicians of London School of Economics in the scope of the doctorate program course titled “Sustainable Architecture” lectured by Prof. Dr. Emel Birer. At the event held on Tuesday, November 2 at 13.00, our guest talked about his book on "Anthropocene and Architecture". The concept of Anthropocene was discussed with questions. Thank you to all our students who participated.

Lecturer Emin Aksan, one of the academicians of the IKU Vocational School Program of Opticianry, attended the autumn meeting held at Antalya Side Crown Sunshine Hotel between 29-31 October 2021, where managers and academicians from the health sector participated, as a guest of the Federation of Health Administrators Associations.

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Department of Entrepreneurship students and lecturers came together on Wednesday, November 3rd. Head of Department Assist. Prof. Nazan Çağlar informed the students about the projects and activities. Our Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ali Şen, also attended the meeting where the projects of the students were also discussed.

Program of Alterneative Energy Resources Technology organized a technical trip to Istanbul Energy Inc.'s Silivri Seymen Biomass Energy Production Facility under the leadership of Program Director Lecturer Dr. Makbule Tamkaş and Assist. Prof. Sawsan Başpınar with the participation of 1st and 2nd year students. We would like to thank Istanbul Energy Inc. General Manager Yüksel Yalçın, Burcu Karaca, Yunus Çelik, Facility Operations Chief Engineer Serkan Çakmak, Engineer İlker Aslı Yuksek and all facility engineers for their contributions to our students who made the trip happen.

The Healthy Nutrition Club organized an event titled "Sports Nutrition and Sports Dietitian" in order to give students an idea about the subject and to explain sports nutrition. In the event, which was held on the CATS platform on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 18:00, nutritional differences according to the sports performed were mentioned. Afterwards, information was given about supplementary foods and sports dietitian was mentioned for those who are considering becoming a dietitian in this field. The event ended after the question-answer session.

The Leadership and Management Club organized an event titled "LİDERYönetici 2021" in order to enable our students to get ideas by hosting people who have a place in business life at our university. BenzinLitre founder Görkem Ünel, Hepsiburada Supply Chain and Stock Planning Senior Manager Anıl Egehan Algül, LC Waikiki E-Commerce Strategy and Process Development Manager Ahu Yayan and Lufian E-Commerce Director Mustafa Levent Yılmaz attended the event as speakers. The event, where people who have made a place in business life told about their own experiences on leadership, took place on Tuesday, October 26 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

Orchestra İKÜ gave a concert in the backyard of Ataköy campus between 16.00-18.00 on Wednesday, October 27th as part of the “October 29 Republic Day” celebrations.

As part of the  October 29 Republic Day celebrations, IKU Music Club held an "Academic Ceremony Concert" at 10:00 on Thursday, 28 October at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center. Our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Program, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hanife Öztürk Akkartal, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. K. Sinan Alçın, our deans, academic-administrative staff and students attended.

An event titled "Various Memory Disorders and Patient Profiles" was organized by the Psychology Club on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Participating as a speaker at the event, Prof. Dr. Öget Öktem Tanör gave detailed information in the field of neuropsychology and explained how the brain works. The event ended after the students' questions were answered.

IKU Music Club organized an introductory party at the Kültür College Alumni Association Club for the members to socialize with each other. In the event held on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, between 18.00-23.00; Participants had a fun time with karaoke, live music, open mic events and DJ show. IKU Dance Club accompanied the party.

Express Science Club held a Halloween Party event in the backyard of Ataköy campus on Monday, November 1, 2021, between 18:00 and 21:00. Dj Batuhan Aktuna performed at the event, which was organized to increase the interaction between club members and strengthen social relations. 

Child Studies Kültür Club will organize a campaign in order to let children benefit from better opportunities. Between 8 November 2021 and 7 January 2022, a booth will be opened in Ataköy, Basın Ekspres and İncirli campuses and aid will be collected for Ürünlü Primary School in Bozova-Şanlıurfa.

With the collaboration of the Atatürkist Thought Club and Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center, there will be a conference titled “Atatürk the Universal Leader” in the scope of “The Commemoration of Atatürk.” The event, in which Prof. Dr Ergün Aybars is the speaker, will be on November 8 Monday at 14.00 via CATS.

Express Science Clun will organize an event titled “Watch with Express-2” in order to increase the interaction between its members. The event, in which there will be a movie display on November 8, Monday between 18.00-20.00, will be hosted by Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

In collaboration with Atatürkist Thought Club (ADK) and Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center (ATAMER), a visit to Anıtkabir is organized within the scope of "November 10th Atatürk Commemoration Events", to commemorate the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at his grave on the 83rd anniversary of his death, on November 10, 2021.

A conference titled “Insurmountable Atatürk” will be held within the scope of “November 10 Atatürk Commemoration Events” in cooperation with Atatürkist Thought Club (ADK) and Atatürk Principles and Revolution History Research and Application Center (ATAMER). The event, where Educator & Journalist-Writer Neşe Doster is the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 10 at 09:15 at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

Istanbul Kültür University Department of Architecture continues to bring famous architects together with its students and the architectural environment. The second guest of the 2021-2022 Academic Year Fall Semester will be PAB Architecture Office Co-Founder Burçin Yıldırım. Could you briefly explain yourself? Who is Yunus Emre Nalbant with 2-3 sentences?

I was born in 1998 in Istanbul. In 2015, I won the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Istanbul Kültür University. While continuing my university education, I tried to improve myself by doing internships in different fields. I graduated in 2019 and started to work as a Software Specialist in the Information Systems and Technologies Department.

How did your participation in Kültür Family evolve?

In May 2017, I started my internship at the General Secretariat. After about 10 months of experience, I continued my internship by moving to the Department of Information Systems and Technologies in 2018. In 2019, I started to work full-time in the Software Department of Development and Innovation.

What are the things that IKU adds to you?

I have met many people both in my student life and in my working life. I gained my first working experience here, in the institution where I have graduated from. Thanks to the events held at our university, I had the opportunity to meet many people I wanted to meet. I have collected beautiful moments over the 6 years.

The world is going through a difficult period. How did you spend the pandemic process? What has this process changed in your life?

In this process, most of us were affected in terms of psychological and social life. Our habits have changed, we have been separated from our loved ones and relatives, but I can say that I have improved myself professionally by turning this process into as positive as possible. At the same time, the distance education continued in our university, as everywhere else, pushed us to work harder. In this process, we made a great effort to continue the education in the best way.

We have been separated from our work environment and colleagues for a long time. What are your thoughts on the new normal these days when our settlements are starting to open?

We were away from the settlements for a very long time. It makes me very happy to see the campuses lively.
