A ceremony titled "Honorary Doctorate Award Presented to Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter G. Kindel Ceremony" was held by IKU Faculty of Law on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. The ceremony was attended by Our Vice Chairperson of the Board of Trustees & Chairperson of the Board of Istanbul Kültür Educational Institutions Ful Akıngüç, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hanife Öztürk Akkartal and our Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Bahri Öztürk, where Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Dr. h.c. Dieter G. Kindel was presented with the title of "Honorary Doctorate".

Istanbul Kültür University Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center continues to bring together beautiful events with students of Kültür and art lovers. In the concert, held on Thursday, November 3, by the IKU Fine Arts Practice and Research Center (GSUAM), Cihan Mürtezaoğlu, who has written many songs such as Bir Beyaz Orkide, Hangi Yol, Sen Banasın, Belli Olmaz, and won the hearts of many with his naive musical style, was a guest of our university. Mürtezaoğlu gave pleasant moments to music lovers with his magnificent stage performance. The artist, who also included unforgettable works besides his own songs, completed the program by performing his tracks that received a lot of requests again.

 A student of IKU, Altuğ Sarı, participated in the European Kempo Championship held in Antalya between 24-30 October 2022 in three different categories. Our student, who was awarded with three bronze medals in the championship, made our university proud by coming in the third position in the European league.

“Creative Leadership Workshop” was held on Monday, October 31 in cooperation with the Design Factory, which was implemented by Istanbul Kültür University with the support of Istanbul Development Agency (ISTKA), and the Department of New Media and Communication. In the workshop, where Leadership and Team Management Trainer Ejder Aydoğdu was a guest, Aydoğdu explained how to be a creative and qualified leader with fun activities. At the event, ways to become a creative leader, who can take responsibility and is solution-oriented, were discussed.

In cooperation with the IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and the Federation of Industrial Associations (SEDEFED), the EU-supported "BY Leap Improving Sectoral Entrepreneurship Project Launch", which is designed to increase the success of entrepreneurs and create innovative business initiatives, was organized. Introductions and entrepreneurs’ presentations about the project were made at the launch, held on Monday, October 31, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

A panel talk titled "World Heritage Sites of Turkey at the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations" was organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism between October 1-23, 2022 as a part of the "2nd Capital Culture Road Festival" in order to highlight the history and culture of Ankara in which the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Neslihan Dostoğlu as a guest speaker. Prof. Dr. Dostoğlu made a presentation titled "UNESCO World Heritage Bursa: Evaluation of the Process and Future Expectations".

Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, under the coordination of the Faculty Erasmus Coordinator Assist. Prof. Elanur Türküz, Erasmus+ sat down with international and first-year students.

Our Erasmus+ and international students sat down with the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences’ Dean Prof. Dr. Müge Çetiner, advisors, departmental Erasmus coordinators, and the lecturers from which they take courses. Our students, who were informed about the opportunities offered by our university and our faculty, shared their opinions and thoughts with the Erasmus coordinators.

In the event held at 13.00, Faculty Erasmus Coordinator Assist. Prof. Elanur Türküz instructed both our Erasmus+ and international students and our first-year students about the use of our digital platforms, especially CATS and Orion.

IEEE Istanbul Kültür University Student Branch organized the "Marmara Regional Meeting" event on Saturday, October 22, 2022. In the event held at our Ataköy campus, more than 500 participants from more than twenty universities affiliated to IEEE Turkey and IEEE Turkey Student Branches met up.

At the meeting where Ezgi Topcu, Chairperson of the IEEE IKU Student Branch Executive Board, gave a speech, the event sponsor, the Design Factory made a presentation to the participants.

IEEE IKU Student Branch received the “IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award”. IEEE SAC Chair Murat Tümer presented the award to Ezgi Topcu.

Res. Assist. Ufuk Küçükyazıcı and Res. Assist. Berkay Oskay from the Department of Architecture, participated in the TV program “Places and People” which was broadcast live on Medyascope TV on Monday, 31 October to present and discuss the study titled “University as an Actor in the Bahçelievler Millet Bahçesi Participatory Design Practice: An Evaluation Based on the Pedestal of Participation” prepared by a team consisting of Prof.  Dr.  Evrim Tore, Assist. Prof. Zeynep Ayşe Gökşin, Assoc. Prof. Yasemin Erkan Yazıcı, Ayşenur Hilal Iavarone and Lecturer Şeyda Şen.

The event titled “LEADERManager 2022” was organized by the Leadership and Management Club of Istanbul Kültür University on October 25-26, 2022, at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center. PWC Türkiye Business Partner Murat Çolakoğlu, U.S. Polo Assn. E-Commerce Manager Ibrahim Ethem Savran, Türkiye Insurance Legal Consultancy Unit Manager Attorney Türkan Sarı, Development Investment Bank of Türkiye Assistant General Manager Gökhan Songül, Mercedes Benz Turkish Bus Assembly Unit Manager Ibrahim Mert Adak and Yıldız Holding M&A Director Cem Kütük attended the event as speakers. In their speeches, our guests talked about the characteristics needed to be a good leader and true manager, the obstacles that have been overcome until they reached this stage, the steps that have been passed and the experiences they have had.

An event titled “Epigenetic Teatalk”  was organized by the Molecular Biology and Genetics Club on Wednesday, October 26. In the event in which Prof. Dr. Eda Tahir Turanlı from Acıbadem University attended as a speaker, topics such as “What is epigenetics?”, “Epigenetic processes”, “Basic mechanisms of epigenetics”, “DNA methylation” and “The effects of environmental factors on epigenetics”, as well as up to date articles on the relevant subjects were discussed. The event was attended by the students of Yıldız Technical University, Biruni University, Istanbul Technical University, Middle East Technical University, Istanbul University, Üsküdar University, Yeni Yüzyıl University, Arel University, Sabahattin Zaim University, Haliç University, Akdeniz University, Giresun University, Boğaziçi University, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point and International Relations Unit, the “Halloween Party’22’ event was held on Monday, October 31. At the party, held in the backyard of Ataköy campus, Kültür DJ Academy exhibited their performances. Our students attended the party with their "Halloween" concept costumes and masks. 

IKU Psychology Club held a seminar titled "What Awaits You in the First Session?" on Wednesday, November 2, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. The event started with the opening speech of the Chairperson of the Psychology Club Betül Yerli, in which she introduced the guest. Clinical Psychologist Pelin Ankay Kudu, who attended the event as a speaker and informed our students about topics such as "how should the therapist look?", "first encounter with the client", "framework in psychotherapy", "taking anamnesis (story)", "ethical rules", "establishing a therapeutic alliance" and "ending the first meeting". The event, in which our guest also shared her experiences, ended after the question-answer session. At the end of the event, Pelin Ankay Kudu was presented with flowers and a memorial plate.

In cooperation with Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) E-Sports Club, Istanbul Bar Association Sports and Sports Law Commission, and Turkey E-Sport Federation, “E-Sports Summit” was organized in three sessions at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall, on October 19, 2022.

E-Sports Federation President Alper Afşın Özdemir, who made the opening speech of the summit, made statements to the participants about the functioning of the E-Sports Federation by making evaluations about the digital gaming sector in Türkiye. In the panel titled “Overview of E-Sports,” which was the second session, Barış Gürer gave information about the progress of the digital gaming sector by sharing basic information about the E-Sports ecosystem with the audience.

Our Vocational School Deputy Manager & E-Sports Club Consultant Lecturer Oğuzcan Akgöl, who spoke at the session titled “E-Sports and Communication,” stated that in a society based on interaction and speed, games have a significant place in terms of their structure. Lecturer Akgöl, who stated that the need to communicate in-game offers great opportunities for players to socialize, explained the relationship between the game and communication. In the same session, Assoc. Prof. Itır Tarı Cömert spoke about the importance of in-game psychology and shared with the audience that more detailed studies will be conducted on player psychology.

In the last session of the summit, speeches were made on the changing structure of the games and the legal system. After the completion of the speeches, the questions of the audience were answered. Esports Club President Emir Uygun presented a commemorative plate and a certificate of appreciation to the speakers at the end of the event.

IKU Crazy Club visited the painting exhibition titled “Reşat Atalık – Şifreler,” which is exhibited at Maji Art Gallery, on Friday, October 21. 

IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) Manager Assoc.  Prof.  Süleyman Hikmet Çağlar and Technology Transfer Specialist Yasin Şahin, had a meeting with Head of Department of Entrepreneurship Assist. Prof. Nazan Çağlar.  In the meeting held on Tuesday, November 1, the endeavours to improve the ecosystem within our university were discussed.  At the end of the meeting, attending a lecture upon the invitation of Assist. Prof. Meri Taksi Deveciyan, Assoc. Prof. Süleyman Hikmet Çağlar and Yasin Şahin informed the students about the IKU TTO and its activities.

“VR, Tiktok, NFT... What's next?” seminar was held by the Effective Communication Club, on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall. Revolvia Agency Founder Kerem Koç attended the event as the speaker. Koç, who sheds light on what might happen in the future in the digital world by sharing his experiences, also touched upon Metaverse and other emerging technologies. The event, which was carried out interactively by creating a conversational environment, ended after the questions of our students were answered.

As a part of the “Health Tourism” and “Quality in Health Care” courses given by the Head of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program Lecturer Emin Aksan, a technical trip was organized to Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital on Monday, 31 October.

On every Monday and Friday evening International students of our university come together regularly in the balloon gym, which was newly built in the parking area of ​​our Ataköy campus, and have  jolly good fun time playing sports games. Kültür Point continues its efforts to organize whole university wide sports events and various tournaments in order to contribute to our students’ adopting sports as a ‘culture of life’. Students who want to participate in these sports events can contact Kültür Point.

IKU Rock'n Culture Club, which was established in the 2022-2023 Academic Year, introduced themselves with a concert they gave on Wednesday, October 26. The withe team performed first at the concert held in the backyard of Ataköy Campus. The concert, which continued with music played in rock and pop genres, ended with a DJ performance.

On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, Mathematics-Computer Club organized a chat and meeting event called “Coffee Break MCS” in order for the members to get to know each other closely and discuss their project ideas. In the event, in which with the motto of “Success Together” experiences were shared for individuals to work as a team, opinions were exchanged on the duties of the members who want to take an active role in the works planned to be carried out.

In cooperation with IKU Career Club and AIESEC, a "Job Interview Simulation" event was organized on Wednesday, October 19. At the event, AIESEC authorities conveyed to our students how to do internships and volunteer jobs abroad. After the lecture, four different authorities conducted a business interview simulation in English with 40 participants.

Within the scope of the Urban Air Traffic Management Development Project, supported by EIT Urban Mobility and conducted by Istanbul Kültür University Technology Transfer Office (TTO), a demo event was held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, on Wednesday, October 26.

Head of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Program, Lecturer Emin Aksan gave a First Aid seminar to Istanbul Topkapı University students on Wednesday, November 2nd.

The Industrial Engineering Club organized the "Alumni Panel" event to get informed about the sector, get to know their departments and listen to the experiences of businesspeople who graduated from the IKU Department of Industrial Engineering. Our graduates Barış Yegül, Murat Kadıoğlu and Aylin Yağman participated as speakers at the event held at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Wednesday, November 2nd.

A training titled "Teamwork and Leadership" will be organized by IKU Youth Office (Genç Ofis) in cooperation with the T.R. Ministry of Youth and Sports,  in order to support the personal development of the participants. The training, which will be given by Tommy Life Management Consultant Orhan Gürsoy, will be held at Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall on Monday, November 7, between 11:00 and 13:30.

Architect Çağrı Kanver will be a guest speaker as part of the 2022-2023 Fall Semester activities of the Faculty of Architecture, the Department of Architecture. The event, in which Kanver will make a presentation titled "Right After Graduation: Being an Architect", will be held on Monday, November 7, between 12:30-13:30, at MTS 6 on the 4th floor of Ataköy campus. The language of the event for senior students is English.

The “You in Me Workshop” will be organized by the Student Life Career and Alumni Counselling Unit (Kültür Point) to recognize chemical and behavioral addictions, to prevent risky behaviors, and improve students’ self-confidence by getting them to know themselves, increase empathy and saying "no" skills. The training, which will be given by Specialist Psychologist Aysu Çelenoğlu, will be held on Monday, November 7, between 13.00-16.00 in the 2nd floor multi-purpose hall.

Kültür Point will organize a training titled "Negotiation Techniques" in order to support students' career planning processes. The training, which will be given by Seçil Altıntaş, will be held on Monday, November 7, between 15.00-18.00, in the 3rd floor multi-purpose hall of Ataköy campus.

Kültür Point will organize “Turkish Sign Language Education” in order to raise awareness for the deaf and hearing impaired in the society and to contribute to the personal and professional development of our students. The training, which will be given by trainer Eser Dalyan, will be held on 7-8 November 2022 between 15.00-18.00 in the 1st floor multi-purpose hall.

The Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will organize a seminar titled "BodySpace" as a part of the 1st year project course. The event, in which Assist. Prof. Dr. Ozan Avcı from the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture at MEF University, will participate as a speaker, will be held on Tuesday, November 8, between 13.00 and 16.00, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

A panel talk titled "Advocacy in Criminal Procedure" will be organized by the Law Club in order to educate students about the field of criminal law. The event, in which Attorney Naim Karakaya will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, November 08, between 14.00-16.00, at the C Block Conference Hall in Şirinevler campus.

The Music Club will hold an introductory meeting at the Kültür College Alumni Association Lounge on Tuesday, November 8, at 19.00, in order for the members to socialize with each other.

Senem Şeşen Güler will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 9, between 15.00-17.00, in the amphitheater numbered B1-8 at Ataköy campus.

A panel talk titled "Neuropsychology of Romantic Relationships and Its Effects on Our Behaviors" will be held in cooperation with the Young Development Club (Genç Gelişim Kulübü) and the Department of Psychology to inform the students about the chemical and physical changes in the brain as a result of romantic relationships. The event, in which Assist. Prof. Sena Kıcıklar from the Department of Psychology will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 9, between 16.00-18.00, at Seminar Hall 2 at Ataköy campus.

Istanbul Kültür University will commemorate the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with the program organized for the 84th anniversary of his passing. The program, which will start with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, on Thursday, November 10 at 09:05 in the front garden of Ataköy campus, will be held at Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center. It will continue with Assoc. Prof. Aynur Soydan Erdemir's speech titled "Intellectual Leader ATATÜRK". The program will end with a visit to Dolmabahçe Palace at 13.00.

The event, in which Master Architect Fatih Korkmaz will participate as a speaker, will be held on Friday, November 11, between 09:30 and 12:00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.

Kültür Point which will organize the "Diction and Etiquette Training" in order to teach the rules of etiquette and courtesy so that the participants may apply it to all areas of life and by making sure to learn to speak Turkish properly. The training, which will be given by Özcan Tekdemir, will be held on Friday, November 11, between 15.00-18.00, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.
