The cooperation agreement between Istanbul Kültür University European Career and Workforce Unit and Lower Saxony State 'Deutsche Management Akademie-German Management Academy' (DMAN) was signed with a ceremony on January 20, 2022, with the participation of high-level government representatives in Germany.

Lower Saxony State President Stephan Well, Turkey's Ambassador to Germany Ahmet Başar Şen, Hannover Mayor and the first Turkish citizen Belit Nejat Onay to be elected mayor in Germany were present at the agreement ceremony to emphasize the support of the German government in the qualified workforce programme. The reflections of the IKU-DMAN agreement, which was covered in the German press, especially in Bild, on Turkey-Germany labor relations, internationalization in higher education, and the contributions of the labor agreement to education and employment were evaluated at the meeting held in our Ataköy campus. Our Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hanife Öztürk Akkartal, our Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult.  Bahri Öztürk, our European Career and Workforce Unit Coordinator Lecturer Nilüfer Köker and Martin Manzel answered the questions of the press at the meeting held on February 3, 2022.

“Solo Exhibition” which is the 13th solo exhibition of Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ, one of our academics from the Department of Art and Culture Management & IKUSAG Director, discusses the concept of liberty; city silhouette, skyscrapers and city life as its theme, opened its doors in Do Art Gallery to art-lovers. The exhibition, which contains 30 artworks in a total of our lecturer, is also published at NFT Platform simultaneously.

Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ’s exhibition which uses sometimes a rearing horse or sometimes a ballerina symbol is opened to visitors on January 29. In the exhibition, which is carried out in the Do Art Gallery, thirty artworks can be visited until February 12. Stating how she is happy by bringing the artworks of all these years with the art-lovers, our lecturer also said that the exhibition is also exhibited on NFT Platform. Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ also said, “It was an important step for me to be both on the artistic and international platforms. We also took an important step in order to present the Turkish Art and Turkish artists abroad, internationally.”

AN EMPHASIS TO METROPOLITANISM WITH HOOMAN THEME

Our lecturer uses Galata and Maiden’s Tower, skyscrapers and city silhouettes to present the metropoles. Along with these the figures which are called hooman and symbols of her creation, are located above the cities while creating a unit repetition. While Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ states these “hoomans” present the city chaos, on the other hand, she emphasises that these figures refer to loneliness among the crowds.

NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE COMPLETES EACH OTHER SIMULTANEOUSLY

Our lecturer who states mainly using negative themes and positive colours, said “I aim to impress the audience with positive colours I use while trying to explain a negative theme. Because the positiveness in that negative becomes more attractive.”

“BE MORE CONFIDENT” ADVICE TO ARTIST CANDIDATES

Assoc. Prof. Reyhan Uludağ said “Because as Turkish nation, we always miss this. We think ourselves as back burner. Honestly, there is nothing we cannot do or accomplish. However, we need to be innovative along with it. We need to act with technology. It is quite important.” while calling out the artist candidates to be more confident.

The BUKE team, including our Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering students Ezgi Topcu, Emin Kaan Güreşçi, Umut Kaya, Bahri Berkant İçöz and Okan Kartbaş, competed in the Renesas Virtual MCU Rally with their vehicles called IKURO.

This competition, which was held physically before the pandemic, has been held online for the last 2 years in the simulation environment created by Renesas.

The competition includes engineering faculty students and educators from universities all over Europe. The aim of the competition is to build a self-guided MCU robot in the Renesas Virtual MCU Rally simulation environment and optimize the software that automatically drives its vehicle along the white line on the track.

In addition, the teams with the best design are also given awards. Our university's team BUKE received the "3rd Best Design" award in the Renesas Virtual MCU Rally competition.

Described by the competition judges as "a vehicle with a soul and personality", "IKURO" has a design feature inspired by the caravan and adding creativity to this idea.

In this competition, which Istanbul Kültür University participated for the first time, our team was also congratulated by the members of the jury. We congratulate our team BUKE and wish them continued success.

Neyir Tekeli, Academic Head of Aviation Programs of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Vocational School (MYO), and Lecturer Evren Yılmaz, an academician of Program of Flight Operations Management, met with HAVAŞ General Manager Mete Erna and Deputy General Manager Onur Kumtepe on Monday, 31 January 2022. A book presentation event titled "A Gift to Prof. Dr. Mehmet Fatih Köksal" was organized by the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Istanbul Kültür University. A Gift Book was presented to Mehmet Fatih Köksal, Head of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, at the event held in Ataköy Campus Seminar Hall 2 on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 14:00.

In order to support the creation of creative and innovative solutions focused on biotechnology and biological sciences and the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas between young people studying architecture and design and professionals who believe in lifelong learning, Kale Design and Art Center (KTSM) is launching the “Sustainable Solutions Inspired by Nature: Architecture and Design Perspective Program”. Applications for the program, which will be implemented with the support of Kalebodur, started as of January 19th. 

The January issue of the e-bulletin named "IKU Vocational School Student Platform", prepared by the students of Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School, is out.

An “Advanced Excel Education” organized by the Leadership and Management Club on January 28, 2022, Friday. In the education, which was conducted online, the skills such as;

- Practical and effective preparation methods of graphics,
- Scenarios,
- All text editing functions,
- Formula checks,
- Recognition of search and reference functions,

That are required to use Excel in an advanced and more professional manner, are gained to attendants.

Umut Bilir, a student of Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Computer Programming, successfully completed the 2021-2022 Academic Year Fall Semester at Escuela Superior de Ingeniería Industrial, Aeroespacial Audiovisual, one of our partner universities with Erasmus Learning Mobility, and returned to our university to continue his education in the Spring Semester. IKU Vocational School Program of Banking and Insurance Second Education Head Lecturer Dr. Ayşegül Berrak Köten's paper titled “Determination of the Relationship Between Non-Performing Loans and Profitability in the Turkish Banking System with Panel Regression Analysis” presented at the 10th Istanbul Finance Congress (IFC-2021), was published in the 14th volume of Press Academia Procedia (PAP).

Faculty of Architecture will hold a student design workshop on the 4th floor of Ataköy Campus between 7-9 February (10.00-17.00 hours) for the projects that won the Public Open Spaces Idea Project Student Competition at MODOKO.

IEEE IKU RAS Student Club will organize "Proteus Circuit Design Training" to inform Engineering Faculty students about virtual circuit design. The training, which will be given by Emin Kaan Güreşçi, a 3rd year student of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, will be held on Tuesday, February 8, between 16.00-17.30 on Google Meets.

Within the scope of university-industry cooperation studies, IKU Program of Fashion Design will open a booth at LINEXPO 2022 Istanbul Underwear-Hosiery Fair, where companies place trend collection orders and discover new brand-designers, between 9-12 February.

A workshop titled "Learners as the co-pilot" will be held in cooperation with the Department of Foreign Languages and the Professional Development Unit in order to increase the efficiency of the lessons. The training, which will be given by Duygu Erdoğan, will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 11:00, in the classroom numbered DFL/710 of the Department of Foreign Languages of Şirinevler Campus.

Could you briefly describe yourself? Who is Res. Assist. Çağrı Başdoğan in 2-3 sentences?

I was born in May 12, 1991, at Tekirdağ. After completing my elementary education, I went to Istanbul Erkek High School. After high school, I completed my undergraduate education between 2010-2014 at Istanbul Technical University, Department of Civil Engineering. Then again, I completed my graduate program in Istanbul Technical University Program of Earthquake Engineering. Presently, I have been continuing my doctorate education in the same program.  

How did your participation in Kültür Family evolve?

Towards the end of the summer of 2016, a sincere friend of mine from my undergraduate period came across the Research Assistant post of our university. He asked, “Won’t you consider applying it?” Actually, I wasn't looking for an obvious job at that time, but I always had the thought of continuing academically. I applied for the opportunity to work in an institution like Istanbul Kültür University, which I believe in its experience, tradition and culture in terms of education, business discipline and institutionalism. After that, everything went well and my career at Istanbul Kültür University, which has been going on since October 2016, has started.

What are the things that IKU adds to you?

I think the experience of being on the other side of the podium for an academic career has been my greatest achievement. However, seeing how important administrative duties are for the general functioning to be healthy, together with our academic burdens and duties, and seeing that the constructive and guiding attitude of our professors in all our studies facilitates our work is the most important thing that IKU has added to me regarding business life.
