The Department of International Trade and Finance Turkish and English programs have been awarded a 3-year accreditation certificate by the Social Sciences, Humanities, Basic Sciences Accreditation and Rating Association (STARAK), which aims to raise the educational standards of universities in Türkiye.

In this year's graduation exhibition, Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School Program of Fashion Design senior students present their collections based on the theme of “essence.” Students aim to contribute not only to the fashion world but also to cultural sustainability with designs inspired by their personal identities, cultural heritage and inner journeys.

The collections shaped in the field of beachwear were produced during the practical training process carried out in cooperation with TrisaT Knitwear Workshop. Thanks to this workshop blended with sectoral experience, students had the opportunity to realize their designs in a professional environment.

The project process was carried out under the guidance of Lecturer Neslihan Tokat Ozan, Lecturer Nilgün Demirhan and Lecturer Mehmet Çağlayan, academics of the Program of Fashion Design. The collections, developed under the guidance of the instructors, present the individual expressions of the students with a strong narrative language, while pioneering the survival of cultural values through fashion.

The graduation exhibition reveals both the academic background and cultural belonging of the young designers with their creative works based on their essence.

The article titled “Analyzing the Impacts of Mucilage in the Sea of Marmara: A System Dynamics Approach Integrating Sustainability Perspectives,” co-authored by Assist. Prof. Duygun Fatih Demirel, our Vice Chair of the Department of Industrial Engineering, has been accepted for publication in the journal Ecological Modelling.

Within the scope of the “Workshop II” course conducted by Prof. Dr. Esin Kasapoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Gamze Alptekin, our academicians from the Department of Architecture, a seminar on wood materials and wood facade systems was held with the participation of Göksel Yıldız, General Manager at Novawood, as the guest speaker.

The Department of Educational Sciences held the "Career Options in PCG: Experience Sharing Meeting" on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Psychological Counselor Servet Şen, Clinical Psychologist Enes Boztilki, and Psychological Counselor Tolgahan Turan from Murat Educational Institutions participated in the event as speakers.

Various events were organized by the Program of Child Development in April 2025. First, Bağcılar Nursing Home was visited. Then, in cooperation with the TEMA Foundation, activities such as “Beylikdüzü Area Cleaning” and a LÖSEV Benefit Project were carried out. All these social responsibility efforts added value to nature, people, and the future.

The Department of Public Relations and Publicity organized an event titled “Marketing of the Future: Algorithms or People?” on Tuesday, April 29 within the scope of the “Internet Advertising” course given by Assist. Prof. Fatma Kömürcüoğlu. Begüm Kavruk, Head of Su6 Advertising Agency, attended the event as the guest speaker. Kavruk shared important information with the students about the use of artificial intelligence and data in digital advertising, and the place of algorithms in the marketing world of the future. 

In collaboration with the Department of Public Relations and Advertising and the Creative Club, the “Creative Workshop 2” event was held on Tuesday, April 29. Creative Director Recep Emre Koca, Art Director Ali Efe Özdemir, and Copywriter Can Salar from 9-16 Advertising Agency participated in the event as speakers. Our guests shared insights into developments in the advertising and agency sector, explained how business processes are managed within agencies, and discussed their professional experiences with students from the Department of Public Relations and Advertising. They also answered students' questions. During the event, students gained valuable information about preparing for a career in the sector.

Istanbul Kültür University Logistics Club visited the Sheikh Zayed Child Welfare Agency to boost the morale and motivation of children, support their needs, and provide encouragement.

Established in 1990 through a protocol signed between the Republic of Türkiye and the United Arab Emirates, the agency has received continuous support from the UAE since its inception. During the visit, Assoc. Prof. Gökhan Kırbaç, one of our faculty members, met with the UAE Ambassador to Ankara, Saeed Thani Al Dhaheri, and exchanged ideas.

Under the coordination of the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students Office, "Online Career Development Training" was held as two separate sessions on April 28 and 30, 2025. The first session, titled "Basic Level Microsoft Office Training," took place on April 28. In this session, participants were introduced to the basic functions of Microsoft Word and Excel, including methods for creating documents and tables, data editing techniques, and practical usage tips. The second session, held on April 30, featured training on “Basic Level Generative Artificial Intelligence Awareness and Applications.” Participants received comprehensive information on the working principles, application areas, and productivity-enhancing potential of generative artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Canva Dream Lab. Both sessions were conducted via the Microsoft Teams platform and were presented by Mert Efe Anğın from the Student Life and Clubs Coordination. Digital participation certificates were sent to students who attended the training.

The Program of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technologies hosted Serdar Gürelli, Human Resources Director at Omega Group, at our university on Tuesday, April 29, at 10.30 in the Incirli Building, Bakırköy Campus. In the event, Gürelli shared information about the job opportunities and new technologies in the air conditioning sector with students.

The Department of International Trade and Finance will organize a summit titled "Green for Youth" where sustainability practices in different sectors, the effects of technology on the professional world and solution-oriented approaches will be discussed in depth. The event, where Sales and Digital Marketing Specialist Alp Eren Sarar will be a speaker, will be held on Saturday, May 3, between 09.20-16.40 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the Department of New Media and Communication, the New Media and Communication Club and the E-Sports Club, a talk titled "What Does Fiction Tell? Rhythm, Emotion and Narrative in Fiction" will be organized within the scope of the "Digital Video" course to provide students with information on sectoral trends and enable them to create fiction practically. The event, where Cinematographer Mahmut Aran will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, May 5 at 14.00 at the STF Mac laboratory in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students' Office and the English Language Teaching Club, a "Speaking Club" event will be organized for students who want to improve their English-speaking skills to practice the language with instructors. The event will be held on Monday, May 5, between 17.00-19.00 in the multi-purpose conference hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Construction Club will organize a "Civil Vision 25" event to support students' career planning processes. The event, where Hasan Can Özdemir (Arx Smart Minds Design and R&D Director), Şafak Çak (Designer), Sinan Türkkan (Chairperson of Artyol) and Sait Gürdap Babuç (Loya Group, Entrepreneur) will be the speakers, will be held on Tuesday, May 6, between 09.30-16.00 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building.

Our university's Occupational Safety Specialist (A), Cumhur Gültekin, will organize the "Safe Campus Seminars," where topics such as fire, earthquake preparedness, and healthy and safe living will be discussed. The seminars, which will be held on Monday, May 5 within the scope of Occupational Health and Safety, will take place at 10:00 in the 4A01 amphitheatre in the İncirli building on the Bakırköy campus, and at 14:00 in the C Block conference hall on the Bahçelievler campus.

The Department of Turkish Language and Literature will organize a trip to Aşiyan Museum on Tuesday, May 6, to give students a closer look at Tevfik Fikret's life.

In cooperation with the Department of New Media and Communication, the New Media and Communication Club and the E-Sports Club, the "Career Management in New Media-4: Alumni Panel" event will be organized where our alumni will share their experiences with our students. The event, where our alumni Social Marc Studio Agency Founder Şara Şimşek and Digital Content Producer Emir Mutlu will be speakers, will be held on Tuesday, May 6 at 13.00 in the classroom numbered AK ZA-3 in the Bakırköy campus Ataköy building.

In cooperation with the New Media and Communication Club and the Department of New Media and Communication, the "II. MediaVision Summit" will be organized to discuss innovations in the field of media and communication. The event, where Influencer Elif Irmak Engüzel, Digital Communication Specialist Simla Canpolat, Content Producer Zeynep Altınbaş and Content Producer Asude Günay Yıldız will be speakers, will be held on Wednesday, May 7, between 09.00-18.00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences will organize a "Career Summit" event to guide our students' career journeys by enabling them to establish connections with the business world. Many company representatives will take part in the summit, where our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and FEAS Dean Prof. Dr. Müge Çetiner will make opening speeches. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 7, between 09.00-16.00 at the Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall.

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences will organize student workshops on "CV Preparation," "Human Resources and Artificial Intelligence," "Understand Yourself: Recognize Your Future,“ and ”Give Direction to Your Career“ as part of the ”Career Summit" to be organized by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on Wednesday, May 7.

An event titled “Detection and Protection of Children at Risk: Practices in Germany, Portugal, and Türkiye” will be organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Law and the Center for Criminal Law Application and Research (CEHAMER). The event, where experts in the field will share their insights, will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 10:00 in the CEHAMER Twin Hall on the 6th floor of the Bahçelievler campus.

A panel titled “Here is the Woman, Here is the Power” will be held in cooperation with the Women's Solidarity Club and the Women’s Association in Business World to raise awareness about the challenges women face in various aspects of life. Representatives from the Women’s Association in Business World will be guest speakers at the event, which will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 11:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall, located in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus.

The Department of Special Education will host an event titled “Staying Safe in Education: Classroom First Aid Practices for Individuals with Special Needs” to provide accurate and effective first aid training for emergencies involving children with special needs. Lecturer Emin Aksan, Head of the Program of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Studies, will be the speaker. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 13:00 in Classroom 3 on the ground floor of the Küçükçekmece campus.

The Guidance and Psychological Counseling Application and Research Center will organize a seminar titled “Trauma, Trauma Intervention Principles, and Trauma-Focused Psychosocial Support Seminar in the Field” to inform students about types of traumas, symptoms, and psychosocial intervention strategies. Specialist Psychologist Elif Başak Aslanoğlu and Clinical Psychologist Eda Nur Alan will be the speakers. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 13:00 in Classroom 3C 12-14-16 in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

To foster interaction among its members, the IKU Geek Club will organize “Quiz Day” on Wednesday, May 7 at 13:00 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall, located in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

Students from the Program of Tourism and Hotel Management will participate in the “Career Days” event to be held at Burdock Hotel Istanbul, Autograph Collection, on Wednesday, May 7 from 13:30 to 17:00.

The Department of Cartoons and Animation will host a talk titled “Beyond Render: Real-Time CGI and Its Future” to introduce students to the latest developments in real-time computer-generated imagery (CGI) technologies and their impact on creative processes. Artist and academician Murat Fırat will be the guest speaker. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 14:00 in the multi-purpose hall on the 2nd floor of the Ataköy building, Bakırköy campus.

The Department of New Media and Communication will host a talk exploring the representation of individuals with disabilities in video games and examining the concepts of social equality. The event will feature Prof. Jan Stasienko (AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow) and Prof. Agnieszka Dytman-Stasienko (University of Lower Silesia, Wroclaw) as guest speakers. It will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at 14:30 in the Design Factory, located in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Department of English Language and Literature, in collaboration with the English Literature Society and the Gender Equality Club, will organize a talk aimed at fostering closer communication between faculty members and students. Assist. Prof. İpek Kotan Yiğit, our Vice Chair of the Department of English Language and Literature, will be the speaker. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 15:00 in the multi-purpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building, Bakırköy campus.

To offer students a relaxing and enjoyable time, an Acoustic Live Music Concert will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at 15:00 on the ground floor of the Ataköy building, Bakırköy campus. The event is organized in cooperation with the IKU Youth Office and the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Istanbul Kültür University will host the “6th International Interdisciplinary Chaos Symposium on Chaos and Complex Systems - SCCS2025” between 08-10 May 2025 at the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus. The international symposium, which will be organized with an interdisciplinary approach, will bring together current research on chaos theory and complex systems in different academic fields. 

The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences will organize the “Gender of Migration: The Cross-Border Journey of Women’s Labour Workshop” within the scope of the IKU-BAP-01 2406 coded project titled “Women and Migration in the Turkic World”. The workshop, where experts in their fields will be guest speakers, will be held on Thursday, May 8, between 09.30-17.00 on the 6th floor meeting hall of the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with the Design Factory, Animal Protection Club, Mathematics-Computer Club, Photography Club, and Game Design and Development Club, an event titled “ANTS FUSION 2” will be organized to bring students together with companies in the digital game industry. The event, where Game Producer Ahmet Börekçi will be the guest speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 8, between 10.00-18.00 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) and IKUANTS TEKMER, the event “Bio-Innovation in Health Sciences Workshop” will be organized to inform participants in the field of biochemistry and biotechnology. The event will be held on Thursday, May 8 between 10.00-15.00 at INNSIDE on the B1 floor of Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Communication and Design will organize an event titled “Contemporary Art Talks: I Walk the Streets” to support students in their career planning journeys. The event, where Photography Artist Ulaş Beşoklar will be the guest speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 13.00 at the 1st floor multi–purpose hall in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of International Trade and Finance will organize an “Alumni Talk” to allow our graduates to share their experiences with our students. In cooperation with the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, “Vestibular Rehabilitation Seminar” will be organized to provide our students with the latest approaches and information specific to vestibular rehabilitation. The event, where Assist. Prof. Gamze Ertürk Uzunoğlu from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa will be the guest speaker, will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 14.00 in the CB 01-01 lecture hall of the Bahçelievler Campus.

The Department of Cartoon and Animation will organize an event titled “From Traditional to Uncertainty…” to enable students to evaluate the artistic production processes with a historical perspective. The event, where artist Akın Yaman will be a speaker, will be held on Friday, May 9 at 11.00 in the 1B 03-05 classroom at the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with the ELT Club and the Department of Foreign Languages Education, a seminar on “Peer Bullying in Classrooms” will be organized to raise awareness among prospective English Language Teachers about peer bullying that may be encountered in classroom environments. The event, where Kültür College Middle School Psychological Counsellor Şilan Ukay will be the speaker, will be held on Friday, May 9 at 13.00 in the Z-16 conference hall at the Küçükçekmece Campus.

The Program of Psychological Counselling and Guidance will organize an “Alumni Panel” to enable our alumni to share their experiences with our students. The event, where our graduates Psychological Counsellor Uğur Koç, Psychological Counsellor Meral Güner, and Psychological Counsellor Cansel Kırım will be the guest speakers, will be held online via CATS platform on Friday, May 9 at 14.00.

In cooperation with the Dean of Students Office Kültür Point and the English Language Teaching Club, a “Speaking Club” event will be organized for students who want to improve their English speaking skills to practice the language with instructors. The event will be held on Friday, May 9 between 17.00-19.00 in the multi-purpose conference hall in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

"Bruno,” a play about the life and ideas of Giordano Bruno, will be staged by the IKU Theatre Club on Friday, May 9, at 19.00, at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center.
