If you are interested in a department other than your major, you may make use of the Double Major Program.
For instance, you study at the Department of Business Administration but intend to work in the field of Human Resources following graduation and thus require education in Psychology. In this case, taking advantage of the double major Program, you may study at and graduate from both the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Psychology at the same time.
Double majors award two separate bachelor's degrees.
There are some success criteria you are required to meet in order to apply to and graduate from the double major program.
Minor, on the other hand, is the program to which you may apply to improve yourself by taking courses from a department other than your major. Minors award graduates with a certificate denoting to their second department.
In Istanbul Kültür University, double major candidates who are eligible to graduate from the first department but fail to complete their second one are granted an extension of maximum two semesters subject to the decision of the Board of Directors of the Faculty/School of their second department.
Double major tuition fees, including for the extension, are set by the Board of Overseers. As per the decision of the Board of Overseers, no fee is charged for the two semester extension granted for double major and minor programs. However, the students who fail to complete the second department at the end of extension period are subject to the tuition conditions of their first department.
NOTE: Double major applications to the faculties and departments that are subject to a passing grade as required by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), the passing grade criteria need to be fulfilled.
