Program Objectives

The aim of Public Relations and Publicity Program is to train qualified, well-trained personnel who have ethical values and carry out the communication studies in accordance with scientific methods. In our program, doing practices in order to acquire skills is important as well as gaining institutional information.  For this reason, in the first and the second term it is the importance is on basic information and in the third and the fourth term it the importance is  on practical courses that will enhance the technical skills of the students. An internship is the important part of education.Training time is 40 business days.





Establishment

 

Istanbul Kültür University, Public Relations and Advertising program of Vocational School of Business Administration was founded in 1999, and accepted its first students in 1999-2000 academic year and gave its first graduates in 2002. The program has begun its academic activities in Şirinevler Campus, along with the increasing number of students, since the 2009-2010 academic year the education continues in İncirli Campus. In 2008 Public Relations and Advertising program’s name was changed with the Public Relations and Publicity Asst.Dr.Alev Ebin has been the director of the program since the establishment. Now Lecturer Fulya Aydın Berberoğlu is the director of the program.

Students who have successfully completed all courses and had at least 120 ECTS, has the associate degree.

Admission and Registration Requirements

Taking students to programs of Vocational School of Business Administration, is made through the central placement exam which is organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). In central placement, candidates are placed by ÖSYM through their Student Selection Examination scores and program quotas. The students’ registration is made by the Student Affairs Office within the framework of the calendar set by OSYM.  

The students graduated from Public Relations and Publicity Programme can do graduate transfer to related bachelor degree to move their vocational education to the highest level.

Internship

In the globalizing world of today, the development level of nations is evaluated by the  information and qualified human resources they possess. One of the most important problems of Turkey is unemployment. On the other hand, corporations in need of qualified employees are also an equally important issue. Therefore, one of the biggest duties of the educators like us , our young population, which is among the greatest resources of our country, up into educated and competent people. Within the scope of Vocational School of Business Administration, internship i.e. Workplace applications, which is amongst the graduation conditions of each student, are the work experience that our students acquire by working for a period of time at an institution chosen in accordance with the training programs our students acquire. This compulsory period of time is 40 workdays depending on the regulations of our school board. The internship gives our students the opportunity to get to know the business life and to see the application fields of their theoretical knowledge they obtained.

Student who got one of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C grades as success grade, shall be considered as being succeeded that course. Student who got one of C-, D+, D, D- grades for a course, shall be considered as being succeeded that course conditionally. In the event that student must repeat the semester in which he got these grades, student shall be considered as being failed these courses. Student who got FD and FF grades for any course shall be considered as failed that course. Student who attended but not succeeded the course is granted FD grade; student who didn’t fulfill the attendance condition is granted FF grade. Procedures and principles applicable to enrollment, education and examinations carried out at the level of bachelor’s degree and associate degree have been determined by Regulations of Istanbul KulturUniversity Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree Education.







Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the program students must have at least 2,00 GPA out of 4,00 and 120 ECTS.





International Cooperations

For graduates who wish to continue their education abroad, Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School of Business Administration made agreements with Centennial College in Canada, and with Fort Hayes State University  in the United States. Also, students have the opportunity to be an exchange student and make internship abroad through the ERASMUS Program.   





Occupational Profiles Of Graduates

This program provides students to be members of qualified contemporary human resources, to have new communication rules knowledge and workforce the public relations need, and use technology effectively and monitor new developments of  the Public Relations and Publicity





Access to Further Studies

Transfer to Bachelor Degree is determined by the Law in Offical Newpaper Dated 02.19.2002 and Numbered 24676. According to regulation on the continuation of graduates of vocational schools to Bachelor Degree and principles that the council of Higher Education determined, vertical transfer exam and placement of graduates of vocational school students to bachelor degree is executed by ÖSYM.  Students who graduated from Public Relations and Publishing Program can make the vertical transfer to bachelor degree to enhance their training to upper level. Departmental Facilities

 Istanbul Culture and University College of business administration Incirli Campus Vocational training is ongoing. Modern technology offers a possibility for students at this campus in a large computer lab. In İncirli Campus, we have updated PC labs, amfi salons for seminars.





Program Activities

In  Program  Public Relations and Publicity, students visit communications  areas, and some communication  companies. Also, some seminars are organized on  communication  skills, communication  activities.
