Program Objectives

Our department is aim to have graduates who are succesfull in their Professional lifes, either they work for production or service sector, in both national and international markets by offering them theoratical and practical knowledge. Our graduates can use their comprehensive education as a base and by integrating it with the knowledge that they gain in their proffesional lifes, they are able to become top level managers. Moreover, they are trained in such a way that they are always looking for improvements, eager to learn and able to develop new creative systems.


TC İstanbul Kültür University was founded in July 15, 1997 in accordance with the article number 4281 of the legislation. The Department of Industrial Engineering began to offer classes during the 1997-1998 academic year with Prof. Dr. Okay Eroskay as the founding dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and Prof.Dr. Tülin Aktin as the founding chair. The department of Industrial Engineering which began to operate in the main building of the Şirinevler Campus, has moved to its current location in Atakoy Campus in 2005.

Qualification Awarded

The requirement for the Bachelor of Science Degree in the field of Industrial Engineering is the successful completion of the formal coursework of minimum of 240 ECTS. Students enrolled in the program are also expected to complete a total of 40 workdays of industrial training during the summer breaks.

Language of Instruction

All courses are conducted in English. Students must have a minimum standard TOEFL score of 75 or should receive a minimum score of 80 in the Inter-University Foreign Language Examination (YDS) or its equivalent in a foreign language test accepted by the Inter-University Board. Students who are not able to pass the English proficiency exam are required to complete one year preparation class in English.

Admission and Registration Requirements

Industrial Engineering Program admits a pre-set number of students every year based on the results of the Central Placement Examination administered by OSYM. In this Central Placement process, the candidates are placed in the Industrial Engineering Department by OSYM on the basis of their LYS (Undergraduate Placement Examination) scores, their own preferences about higher education programs and the requirements and quota of these programs.

In addition, foreign students are also admitted to the two year programs and the undergraduate programs of Istanbul Kültür University as indicated in the guidelines of the application and admission for foreign students. Registrations of the students that are placed in the Industrial Engineering Department are carried out by Istanbul Kültür University Student Affairs Office according to the calendar set by OSYM.

Double Major–Minor Programs

In accordance with the guidelines of the Bachelor’s Degree Education-Training and Examination Regulations, successful students who are working towards a major degree in the Industrial Engineering Department can also apply for a minor program in another department Upon successful completion of the Industrial Engineering program, students are awarded with a certificate for this minor program along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering.

Successful students in the Industrial Engineering Department also have the opportunity to graduate in a double major program. The second major can be in the field of Business Administration, Economics or Computer Engineering. Students who meet the necessary conditions and fulfill the necessary requirements can graduate from both departments by acquiring two distinct Bachelor’s Degrees.

In order to graduate each student must complete an internship for minimum of 40 workdays. The time of this training should be outside the academic period (fall and spring) or must be approved by the Faculty Administration Council. The training which begins after the fourth semester should be conducted in accordance with the students’ fields of study and must be compatible with their engineering formation.

Grading Scheme

Students are granted one of following letter grades and/or symbols by instructor of the course for each academic year they are enrolled.



























G: Not sat for semester-end exam

P: Course continues

R: Repeated

E: Incomplete semester studies

T: Transfer

V: Withdrawal

Student who got one of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C grades as success grade, shall be considered as being succeeded that course. Student who got one of C-, D+, D, D- grades for a course, shall be considered as being succeeded that course conditionally. In the event that student must repeat the semester in which he got these grades, student shall be considered as being failed these courses. Student who got FD and FF grades for any course shall be considered as failed that course. Student who attended but not succeeded the course is granted FD grade; student who didn’t fulfill the attendance condition is granted FF grade. Procedures and principles applicable to enrollment, education and examinations carried out at the level of bachelor’s degree and associate degree have been determined by Regulations of Istanbul KulturUniversity Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree Education.

Graduation Requirements

The student must successfully complete all courses (equivalent of a total 249 ECTS) that take place in the four-year education plan. In order to complete all the courses in the program successfully, the student must have at least 2.00 on a 4.00 weighted grade point average. In addition, each student must have completed 40 days compulsory internship.

International Cooperations

ERASMUS is a European Union based program established to promote collaboration among the higher education institutions of European countries. It provides grants for joint projects and short term student and academic staff exchange programmes.  Students have the opportunity to study at a European Union institution and receive financial support during the academic exchange period (one or two terms/ 3 to 12 months).

Departmental Facilities

Industrial Engineering Department is located in Atakoy Campus. The faculty consists of 1 Professor, 2 Associaste Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 Lecturer, 8 Research Assistants.  Research interests of the members of the department cover a wide range in the field of Industrial Engineering. The department has a Computer Laboratory and Production and Measurement Technologies Laboratory, which are used for both education and research purposes.
