We’d like to offer you a warm welcome to İstanbul Kültür University’s 2011 1st

Roundtable Organization entitled “GOING BEYOND THE HORIZON: CHANGE at

İstanbul Kültür University Foreign Languages Center”.

 

As Victor Frankl says,

 

“When we’re no longer able to change a situation, we’re challenged to change

ourselves”

 

What matters is how we change!

 

Change may come to you in trinkets and we hope it adorns your life gracefully.”

 

The main aims of this organization are to discuss better practices for TEFL, to share

various experiences from other institutions and find more effective practices in ELT in order

to meet tomorrow’s challenges in teaching English at İstanbul Kültür University.

 

We hope that this gathering would serve as a platform to share different experiences

and practices for development in terms of teaching English as a Foreign Language. Besides,

by means of this gathering, we can contribute to curriculum development, efficiency in

teaching, assessment, personal and professional development, curriculum development,

academic management and institutional development. We’d like to join our forces for joint

goals in this common platform.

 

This organization will be composed of five sessions and a panel at the end of the

day. The sessions and the panel will help us form a better understanding of each other’s

experiences and provide the necessary assistance to language learners in this changing world

of foreign language education.

 

Each session is divided into two parts. In the first part, fifteen minutes of presentations

will be given by Istanbul Kültür University’s Instructors. After that, forty five minutes of

speech will be delivered by academics from different universities.

 

After the fifth session, we’ll reach the last step of the program; there will be a panel in

which you can join the discussions with your questions, opinions and additional remarks.

 

We hope your contribution will enrich our program and help us realize the aim of this

organization.

In the 1st session, we’ll discuss Curriculum Development with our instructors and our

speakers Mehmet Atasagun and Diler Gültekin from Bahçeşehir University.

Welcome back. Let’s move on to the 2nd Session. The topic of this session

is “Efficiency in Teaching”. It will be handled by İstanbul Kültür University’s Instructors and

Yasemin Yurdakul from Kadir Has University.

Welcome back again. We’ll continue to our program with the third session. The topic

of this session is “Assessment”. It will be handled by İstanbul Kültür University’s Instructors

and Peter Holt from Sabancı University.
