Like in all Turkish Universities, the graduate programs of İstanbul Kültür University are organized by the Institutes. There are two Institutes- Institute of Sciences and Institute of Social Scinces- under the roof of İstanbul Kültür University, a foundation University, established in 1997. The Institutes have PHD and Master Degree programmes. Most programs offer options of specialization in different areas through a wide range of elective courses.
The master programs can be with or without thesis. The thesis program corresponds to at least 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System)-credits. Its requirements consist of successful completion of at least 7 courses (at least 60 ECTS-credits), a seminar course, and a defended Thesis, respectively. The non-thesis program corresponds to at least 120 ECTS-credits. Its requirements consist of successful completion of at least 10 courses (at least 90 ECTS-credits) and a Graduate Project, respectively. Students can apply for PhD programs with an undergraduate degree or a master degree. The PhD programs for students with undergraduate degrees and with master degrees correspond to at least 240 ECTS-credits and at least 180 ECTS-credits, respectively. Their requirements consist of successful completion of at least 14 courses (at least 120 ECTS-credits) for students with undergraduate degrees and of at least 7 coures (at least 60 ECTS-credits) for students with master degrees, Comprehensive Exam, Dissertation Proposal, and a defended Dissertation, respectively. The PhD program durations vary between 7-10 semesters and the MSc program durations vary typically between 3-4 semesters.
Admission conditions for each graduate program offered by İstanbul Kültür University are determined by the corresponding Departments along with the specific requirements of the program.
