İstanbul Kültür University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, was founded in 1997, aims to offer an up-to-date program with a balanced combination of basic science and technology that will provide our students with continuous development and success in their future career, to increase students’ problem solving and mathematical expression competence and to develop their skills in using analytical and model development tools required for the processes of design, performance measurement and evaluation, therefore to produce professionals in engineering and architecture fields who can be innovative, knowledgeable and skilful to meet the needs of national and international business environments of manufacturing, implementation, design and management. İstanbul Kültür University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture continued education, training and research activities until the end of the 2010-2011 academic year, in 23 August 2011 and published in the Official Gazette No. 28034 2011/2105 decree, The İstanbul Kültür University founded Faculty of Architecture, and our faculty name was changed to The Faculty of Engineering.
MÜDEK is an international evaluation system replacing ABET which, critically reviews the syllabi, staff, research activities, teaching process and physical facilities of a department with the purpose of accreditation. İstanbul Kültür University Faculty of Engineering Departments; Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering have been found to be of satisfactory performance during the reviews implemented in 2014 and is fully accredited.
İstanbul Kültür University, Faculty of Engineering conducts its training, teaching and research activities with 2594 students and a total of 80 faculty members including 16 professors, 11 associate professors, 19 assistant professors, 10 lecturers, 9 research assistants, 12 engineers and 3 chemists in 2016-2017 academic year.
The medium of instruction in department of Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering is English. Department of Civil Engineering began teaching Civil Engineering degree program in Turkish from the 2012-2013 academic year. Education programs are arranged in a way that gives the ability to manage complex events often found in engineering studies, improve problem solving skills, the ability to design, updated considering the international standards. For this purpose, basic science, professional skills and knowledge and culture courses in the program are arranged in a balanced manner.
Successful students have the opportunity to enroll in (earliest third and latest fifth semester) İstanbul Kültür University Double Major Programs. Minor Programs are also available to the students. Students also have the opportunity to take courses from graduate programs in order to enhance their knowledge in their field of study and to prepare for graduate studies. In their last year of their academic program, students can take three courses from one of the graduate programs upon the approval of the İstanbul Kültür University Senate. This provides a major benefit to our students who will continue their studies in the graduate program at İstanbul Kültür University. Graduate courses taken in the last year of the undergraduate program may be credited in the graduate program.
Adaptation of all lectures in undergraduate curriculum to European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) has been completed in 2001 to benefit our students from ERASMUS program which provides one or two semesters study in universities of European Union countries. All undergraduate curriculum has been updated in 2001-2012 academic year, has been aligned to the Bologna Process that aims to create a European Higher Education area.
