    Prof.Dr. Bülent TAHİROĞLU

    After Kabataş Highschool; in 1963, he graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law. The same year, he was appointed as the Roman Law assistant at Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He held the degree of doctor of law in 1969, with his doctorate thesis on "Roma Hukukunda Iniuria ("Iniuria in Roman Law" (Assault to the Physical and Moral Personality) that he drafted in Istanbul and Geneva (The thesis was published in the same year.). In 1972, he received diploma from the first section of the Strasbourg Faculty of International Comparative Law (Faculte Internationale pour I'Enseignement du Droit Compare). In May 1972, he succeeded at the public foreign language examination in French. At the end of his doctorate thesis on "Roma Hukuku' nda Furtum (Furtum in Roman Law) Hırsızlık, Dolandırıcılık, Emniyet Kötüye Kullanma" (Burglary, Fraud, Abuse of Confidence) drafted by benefiting from the libraries in Istanbul, Ankara and Italy, foreign language examination of doctorate in French, colloquium and examinations as trial courses; he became doctor in 1974. As he waited for a vacant position, He was appointed to the chair of Roman Law at Istanbul University Faculty of Law on 22.07.1976. Since 1974, he attended the congresses of International Society of Ancient Laws (SIHDA), International Academy of Comparative Law and similar institutions,at several countries upon various notifications. On the date of 17.09.1982, he was appointed as member of the Faculty Board and Administrative Committee of Istanbul University Faculty of Law. With his Professorship Thesis on "Roma Hukukunda Mülkiyet Hakkının Sınırları (Limits of Right of Ownership in Roman Law") that he drafted benefiting from the libraries in Istanbul and Paris and with his other pieces offered, he was promoted to professorship in 1984, as per the provisions of Law no. 1750 on Universities, in accordance with Temporary Article 8 of the Law No. 2547 on Higher Education. His second foreign language that he had success in professorship is Italian. He was appointed to the professorship position in Roman Law at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, by the Board of Higher Education on the date of 13.08.1985. From 1982, which is also the foundation year of Marmara University Faculty of Law, he gave lectures on Roman Law, Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution, Introduction to Law, History of Common Law. He was assigned as Associate Professor and Professor to give lectures on Civil Law and Code of Obligations for 10 years, at the Turkish Land Forces School of Munitions and Finance. He gives Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution and Basic Principles of Law courses at Marmara University Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty, and Droit Civil (Civil Law) course at the Public Law Department teaching in French at this Faculty, and Droit Romain (Roman Law) course in Galatasaray University Faculty of Law. In the 1986-1987 academic year, he gave Roman Law courses by proxy at Dicle University Faculty of Law. In the following years, at different times, he attended the educational activities of Istanbul University Faculty of Law, Vocational School of Press (Faculty of Communication), Dicle University, Selçuk University, Atatürk University, Erzincan Faculties of Law. Since the date of 20.09.1985, he served as the member of Faculty Board and Administrative Committee of Marmara University Faculty of Law. In the years 1991-1994 and 1996-1997, he worked as Vice Dean of the Marmara University Faculty of Law. In 19.09.1997, he was appointed as the Dean of Marmara University Faculty of Law. In 28.09.2007, he was once again appointed as Dean. On November of the year 2003, he was appointed to Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Law. He still keeps this post. New editions of the books titled Roman Law courses (Introduction to History, General Concepts, Procedural Law) (jointly with Prof.Dr. B.ERDOĞMUŞ) (4th, latest issue in 2005), Roman Law Issues (jointly with Prof.Dr. B.ERDOĞMUŞ) (4th, latest issue in 2005), Roman Code of Obligations (latest issue in 2005), Roman Law – Actuality (Translation from M.Villey) (latest issue in 2007), have been launched. He attended the International Society of Ancient Laws (SIHDA) congresses held in 2005 in Cologne (upon notification), in 2006 in Greece, in 2007 in Catania (upon notification).
