Program Objectives

 The objective of the Tourism and Hotel management Programis to prepare candidates for leadership positions in hospitality and tourism industries through comprehensive curriculum that blends theory with practice to produce innovative solutions to real world problems.





Establishment

Istanbul Kültür University, Tourism and Hotel Management Program of Vocational School of Business Administration is founded in 1997, and took its first students in 1997- 1998 academic year and gave its first graduates in 1999.

 

The program has began its academic activities in Şirinevler Campus, along with the increasing number of students from the 2009-2010 academic year training continues in İncirli Campus.

 

 





Qualification Awarded

 

Students who have successfully completed all courses and had at least 120 ECTS, has the associate degree.

Admission and Registration Requirements

 

Taking students to programs of Vocational School of Business Administration, is made through central placement exam which is organized by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM).

In central placement, candidates is placed by ÖSYM through their Student Selection Examination scores and program quotas.

The students’ registration is made by the Student Affairs Office within the framework of the calendar set by OSYM.

Internship

 In today's global world, countries' development level is measured by their knowledge and trained human resources. Unemployment is the most important problems of Turkey at the beginning. In contrast to companies who need qualified staff is an issue just as important. The young population is one of the greatest wealth of our country to meet this requirement if we are to make educated and business people who know the work of educators. Business Vocational High School student at graduation requirement in all the business applications of the internship, students receive their education programs, in accordance with the selected organizations have gained business experience working in a certain period of time. This time, our school decided to be 40 working days, depending on the regulations. 

Internship, students work life programs, recognition and training offers the opportunity to see applications of their theoretical knowledge. 

Vocational High School students internship periods are typically periods of the sectors where they met. Students of the benefits afforded by this meeting;

To make contact with potential employers face in the future by providing students with an important job references, will make the future investment. 
Finally, internships, work-related experience is reassuring to employers as an indicator.

Students are granted one of following letter grades and/or symbols by instructor of the course for each academic year they are enrolled.

Student who got one of A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C grades as success grade, shall be considered as being succeeded that course. Student who got one of C-, D+, D, D- grades for a course, shall be considered as being succeeded that course conditionally. In the event that student must repeat the semester in which he got these grades, student shall be considered as being failed these courses. Student who got FD and FF grades for any course shall be considered as failed that course. Student who attended but not succeeded the course is granted FD grade; student who didn’t fulfill the attendance condition is granted FF grade. Procedures and principles applicable to enrollment, education and examinations carried out at the level of bachelor’s degree and associate degree have been determined by Regulations of Istanbul KulturUniversity Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree Education.







Graduation Requirements

 

In order to graduate from the program students must have at least 2,00 GPA out of 4,00 and 120 ECTS.





International Cooperations

 

For graduates wishing to continue their education abroad, Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School of Business Administration made agreements with Centennial College in Canada, and with Fort Hayes State University  in the United States. Also, students have opportunity to be exchange student and make internship abroad through ERASMUS Program.

Access to Further Studies

Undergraduate Education in transition, published in Official Newspaper No. 24676 dated19.02.2002 of Graduates of Vocational Schools Regulation on the continuation ofUndergraduate Education "in accordance with the principles of practice set by the Board of Higher Education, Vocational Schools programs, successful students who graduate from formal education degree programs related to the examination andmaking a transition to vertical placement operations are conducted by SSPC.

Program Activities

 Tourism and Hotel Management Program, students within the scope of the technicaltour Hotel Operations, Culinary Arts Academy, and visited some tourist companies. In addition, conferences and seminars in cooperation with companies operating in the tourism establishments are organized periodically.
