The students who are successful in the English Proficiency Exam skip the English Preparatory Class and start the first year. The English Proficiency exam will be given on 03 September 2009. The exam is prepared by the IKU English Proficieny Examination Committee.

Students are given a file by the Department of Student Affairs during the registration period, which includes information about the English Proficiency Exam. If the students who have enrolled at an English-medium deparment cannot  pass the English Proficiency examination, they have to attend the English Preparatory School. The students who want to learn English can also attend the English Preparatory Classes even if it is not compulsory in their departments.

The language of instruction is English in Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs. In addition to this, students can learn German or French as a second foreign language.
