As well as being one of the main places for scientific development, universities also play an important role in the cultural development of students. For this reason, universities represent the forward-looking picture of the countries. The university lives of the students continue with academic studies and cultural activities. While attending their classes, university students should also spare time for social, cultural and sportive activities. This is what academic life requires.
As a reflection of this requirement in our university,
IKU Student Clubs Union is established in order to allow students to spend their leisure time with vocational, scientific, social, cultural, and sportive activities. (In accordance with the Higher Education Law No 2547 article no 47, IKU Student Clubs Union, which started in 2nd of March, 1998 with the agreement of IKU Board of Trustees, aims to help its students spend their spare time with vocational, scientific, social, cultural, and sportive activities.)
Every student studying in Istanbul Kültür University not only stays as a university student but also promotes the environment in the university, behaves as an active member of the institution carrying the responsibility of this, and reflects the privilege of being “cultured” (a student of Kültür University).
The student clubs are established according to students’ interests and as a result of their own requests and organization. Some of the clubs are about business life, while others are about hobbies and arts. As a result, the clubs in the university has a diversity ranging from handicrafts to literature, music, theatre, sports, and economy.
Students of IKU have the right to join any club they want, take part and responsibility in them actively. The students in these clubs have the opportunity to spend their free time effectively and to canalize their energy positively into different activities. As a result of this, together with promoting the students’ academic knowledge, vocational skills and thinking, we also create them an atmosphere in which they can learn teamwork, leadership, and sharing.
Student clubs present congresses, seminars, conferences and conversations, which fit for the mission and vision of IKU, as well as tours, parties, sportive games, tournaments, and concerts during the academic year.

Head: Arzu KILIÇ
IKU Dance Club has been laid the foundation in the second semestre of 2002. The first and the most important aim is to make our students spend their free time and be social students.
The main aim of dance clubs, being attached to clubs’ community at university, is to increase student interest to social dances and make the university known more by the festivals and seminars on dance.
IKU Dance Club have had an important role since the day it was founded: It has developed itself with the support of university administration, and it has worked a lot to be beneficial for the university obeying Club’s Community Regulations. As a result of surveys, our club has started to give Latin and Argentina Dance courses. Thanks to the trainers, the best ones in their area, students can perform on the festivals with their own groups.
During 2008-2009 Academic Year, the club developed itself both in terms of its mission and its management. First of all, the dance courses from the previous year started again. Also, with the aim of the club’s development, brainstorming sessions were arranged and new ideas came out. Upon students’ demand, R&B courses started; the club developed itself a little more. The performer groups of these courses started composing new coreographies to be able to attend organization so that they will make the university known better. Our biggest supporters of our practises and of the preparation of new projects are Istanbul Kültür University and Club’s Community. Our university has provided us with a new dancing room so that we have the opportunity to work in a more relaxed environment. Also, it means that our campus has been enriched more.
Belly Dance courses have been started after the decision taken in the following meetings. Like the other dance courses, our course started with the best trainers in belly dancing.
