Our university is managed in the frame of higher education law code numbered 2547.

It started education in the academic year of 1997-1998 with 3 faculties and 2 colleges. Students are still being accepted to 32 higher education programmes in 5 faculties and 2 vocational schools. Additionally, Phd and master degree programmes are carried on in 14 departments in the Institute of Social Sciences and the Institute of Applied Sciences.

Research activities in İKU are also performed in research centers apart from faculties and institutions. Research centers are structured as institutions under rectorship. High disciplened research is done in these centers with the contributions of commercial and industrial institutions.

Participation and contributions of public and private institutions to the research studies of our university are highly appreciated. On the applied subjects, it is also believed that getting support from the qualified members of these sectors as academicians is beneficial.
